Crime blotter for January 27, 2009

Good morning, everyone, it's 10:28am. I'm in Computer class at school and the class is about to end, so I'll be back later. Stay safe! Here's crime for today below.

3:00 to 4:10pm - Nothing too major happened, other then the police being called to a Criminal Sexual Assault report (should've been attempted kidnapping) on the 2800 block of N Ridgeway. It happened to my sister at about 1:30pm today. She was walking towards Walgreens (at Diversey and Pulaski) when a Checker's (possibly) yellow cab, with some checkers on it, stopped her at around Diversey and Avers and the cab driver, a middle eastern man in his 30s with a white long sleeved T-shirt, tried to lure her into the cab. She ran towards Walgreens. She asked an employee there to call police but they did not. She came back home and my mom called police. Beat car 2546 responded but coded it out because the solo officer said he could do nothing unless he had a cab number which my sister did not get to see. So, to all females in the area, please be careful! The guy who did this is some kind of creep.

4:10 to 5:01pm - Stuff was happening, including traffic accidents at North/Springfield and Milwaukee/Davlin, an RD pulled at 3607 W Fullerton (Tony's Finer Foods), among other things.

5:02pm - 1) Burglar alarm. 2516 N Hamlin. The burglar alarm is going off. 2) Disturbance. 3940 W Fullerton. Male teenager with a dark blue hoodie refusing to leave. 3) Disturbance. 2550 N Pulaski. At the Marathon gas station. Someone was getting harassed.

5:09pm - Something went down in the coverage area, though I forgot what.

5:19pm - The first 5:02pm job is coded out 19Paul.

5:28pm - The second 5:02pm job is coded out 5Eddie.

5:38pm - Vicious animal. 3905 W Belden. A dog just attacked someone.

5:50pm - Burglar report. 2707 N Lawndale. No further information.

5:57pm - Beat 2505 is doing a check at Mozart Park.

6:04pm - Criminal damage to property. 3923 W Palmer. Male Hispanic, black jacket with white spots on it, ran west on Palmer when spotted tagging a factory at the location.

6:05pm - Parker. 1800 block of North Harding. Premits again.

6:20 to 6:26pm - Was not paying attention. Sorry.

6:28pm - Check the well being. 3720 W Armitage. Male screaming, like he's in pain, on the 6th floor. EMS refused.

6:39pm - Disturbance. 2703 N Ridgeway. Problem with male tenant.

6:40pm - I have to go eat now (yo tengo comer for those who read Spainish). I will be back soon.

7:00 to 7:22pm - Lots of stuff going on. A domestic-related fight broke out on the 2900 block of N Ridgeway. Two females fighting in the hallway of an apartment building. Then a domestic situation at 3118 N Harding. A supervisor was called to that one. Some other stuff also happpened. By the way, the 6:28pm job was coded out 19Paul. The man is okay.

7:23pm - I'm back from dinner but will be departing in a few minutes.

7:32pm - There's narcotics somewhere on 2525's Beat.

7:36pm - Car alarm. 4138 W Palmer. Possibly in the alley. No description of car, though.

7:53pm - Assist the citizen. 4012 W Armitage. Citizen needs some help.

7:56pm - I have to go now. Good night, everyone, and stay safe!

there are currently 6 squad cars (at least) at the scene of last week's shooting on Albany and Diversity. Anyone know what's going on?

Hmmm ... from what I collected on Zone 3's air (the 14th district), there is some sort of possible outdoor roll call happening there.

I was by there around 10pm and didn't see anything.

PS: Thanks for going to the trouble to post all this. As a concerned neighbor, I really appreciate the info!

Well, the anoymous commenter's comment came in at about 6:19 last night, so that was at least four hours before you were there.

By the way, you're welcome :-).

Tim:

Your sister did the RIGHT thing, and thankfully she is SAFE!

The people at Walgreens, however, are another matter. Your mom has the right to file a complaint with the manager there, for failing to help a person in need. They turned a blind eye to possible CRIME.

Unbelievable, Tim, but happy she's safe.

I'm thankful as well that she's safe. It took some convincing for her to call the police.

As for Walgreens, my mom has said that she might go down there and say some things for not helping yesterday.

The officer who responded (wasn't too nice about the job over the scanner. Made some kind of comment regarding it) said for my mom/sister to have a camera loaded and ready at 1:30pm today (time of incident yesterday) in case the cabbie has guts to show up in the area again.

maybe he was just looking for cab fare.

I don't find "come with me" just looking for cab fare. Besides, she never called for a cab and did not flag him down. I believe this cabbie was looking to kidnap her.

Sensationalist, what's that supposed to mean when you say that?
