Premise Check At YMCA

Good morning, everyone, it's 6:42am. Yeah, I know, it's early, but I needed to be up this morning for something. Anyway, I'll be here with 25 all day on this rather warm day. It'll be in the low to mid 70s today. Tomorrow, I'll be monitoring 14 all day. I think that should be real interesting because it'll be near 80. Here is crime for today.

8:09am - Beat car 2525 is doing a premise check at the YMCA, 1834 N Lawndale.

10:34am - Disturbance. 4444 W Fullerton. Caller came to the gas station to get property, but the clerk refuses to return it.

10:45 to 10:58am - I was napping. I'll probably nap again in an hour or two.

11:09am - Beat 6758Boy has a traffic stop at Armitage and Lawndale, and a female is needed for a search. Beat car 2525 is going, but she's coming from the far west end of the District, Diversey and Newland, to be exact.

11:17am - Traffic accident. Pulaski and Dickens. A blue MVP van with a plate of H386397 struck a vehicle. It's supposed to be at Cortland and Kedvale now.

11:19am - Beat car 2524 found the 11:17am offending vehicle and it's driver. He'll hold on to him until 2593 arrives there.

11:43am - A slow down is being given on the 11:36am job.

12:16pm - Disturbance. 3618 W Wolfram. At St. Hyacinth's. Teens hanging in the parking lot and the church can't start it's services because of it.

12:24pm - Parker. 3062 N Davlin.

About 1:03 to 1:49pm - I didn't pay too much attention, but from about 1:10-1:20pm, there wasn't anything in our area.

1:53pm - Backlog in 25 at 13:53 hours.

2:15pm - 1) Disturbance. 1627 N Pulaski. 2) Loud music disturbance. 4141 W Wellington.

2:33pm - EMS run. 3814 W Armitag e. Man swollen head to toe.

2:40pm - Did anybody else's power just turn off? Our power just went out.

2:58pm - Power outage. 2100 block of N Avers. It's not just my block, then. It's in the area.

3:23pm - The power's back on. Glad that didn't last too long.

3:46pm - EMS run. 2937 N Kenneth. Sick person.

3:52pm - Criminal trespass in progress. 2922 N Ridgeway.

4:06pm - Disturbance. 3149 N Springfield. Kids playing soccer in front of the big apartment building (just putting that out there since anybody could be calling from there, not just any particular person).

4:10pm - Burglar alarm. 3713 W Wabansia.

5:13pm - A unit has an on-view disturbance at 3170 N Milwaukee. Everything's fine.

5:15pm - There's some job at Diversey and Lawndale.

5:22pm - 10-1. Lockwood and Drummond. Off duty PO is calling in multiple shots fired.

5:23pm - Multiple calls for "Shots Fired" at the 10-1 location.

5:54pm - Disturbance. Ken-Well Park. People drinking.

5:55pm - Commerical alarm. 2850 N Pulaski.

6:03pm - Somebody's on a traffic stop at 3744 W George.

6:53pm - Disturbance. 1627 N Pulaski. Male panhandling in front of Walgreens.

6:54pm - Gang disturbance. 24XX N Ridgeway. They're loitering. Allegedly, there was a call here earlier, too. Funny, I didn't hear any calls for that block.

7:01pm - Domestic(?) disturbance. 2832 N Lawndale. Neighbors arguing.

7:06pm - I have to go eat. I shall return :).

7:30pm - I'm back :).

7:41pm - Domestic battery. 4042 W Oakdale. Boyfriend hit the caller.

7:51pm - Transport unit needed on the 7:41pm job for 2523. 2522 is going over.

Multiple units were needed, especially at Huron and Long. A taser was deployed at this fight. Dispatch is trying her abouslte best to keep calm with all of this going on. There was a shooting and stabbing, too. I can tell she's a bit stressed, though. I don't blame her one bit. 15 is one of the roughest districts in the city.

12:00am - I'm gone with 25 until Friday. Standby for 14...

Traffic Stop On Pulaski

Good morning, everyone, it's 12am. Today, I'm monitoring until my dinner. Anyway, it's going to be mild outside. It'll be around 60 degrees. We'll see what happens with that. But tomorrow is when we should really worry about the crime rate. It'll be in the upper 70s (really warm for this time of year). So, here's crime for this morning and afternoon.

12:10am - Beat car 2523Robert is on a traffic stop at 3031 N Pulaski. With that, I'm gone for the night. See you all in the morning :).

9:37am - I'm back. Good morning :).

10:07am - Recover stolen vehicle. 3715 W Fullerton.

10:21am - Traffic accident. Pulaski and Schubert.

11:53am - Criminal damage. 2450 N Lawndale.

12:40pm - Gang disturbance. 36XX W Shakespeare. They're loitering in front of the building. I'm betting it's either some Cobras or some IGs (both gangs are mapped for that area). I have the exact address but I won't give it out.

12:55pm - Disturbance. 3953 W Diversey. At Golden Nugget. Male panhandling IN the restaurant.

12:56pm - Suspicious vehicle. 2939 N Lawndale. Stripped blue vehicle is possibly stolen.

12:57pm - Landlord/tenant dispute. 3847 W Fullerton. Tenant causing problems.

1:02pm - Disturbance. 2020 N Hamlin. Very heated argument going on. It's getting "dangerous".

1:13pm - Now the 1:02pm job comes in as a male and female fighting. 2546 says they're not fighting. He's right in front of them and they are telling him assuming stories.

1:16pm - Burglary in progress. 2651 N Springfield. Two male Blacks just got out of a vehicle and are trying to pry open a window.

1:23pm - Total disregard given on the 1:16pm job. It's not bona fide. It'll be coded.

1:24pm - The 1:02pm job is coded for now. 2546 says if there's another call here, he's going back and locking up the male.

1:27pm - Assault. 3607 W Fullerton. At Tony's. Complainant was threatened by a male Black, 30s, who got into a maroon vehicle with a plate of K1119693 and fled towards Belden on Central Park.

1:31pm - They're calling back on the 12:40pm job. Now it's a battery offender that's wanted. She's heading towards Lawndale. She's a female White, 18-20 yrs old, blonde hair, 5'3 and 150 lbs.

1:48pm - Disturbance. Cortland and Springfield. Three males loitering on the corner. They're messing with street signs and being loud.

1:50pm - 10-1 at 1525 N Laramie. 2507Adam is yelling for help on the radio and apparently a citizen called 911.

1:51pm - It's a foot chase. Male Black with a white t-shirt running down North Ave., towards Leamington.

1:52pm - Officers are setting up a perimeter in the area, to make sure the guy doesn't get out of their reach.

1:53pm - The guy was involved in a fight. He's wanted for battery, perhaps to 2507A (because I wouldn't imagine a 10-1 being called for if it's only a fight)?

1:54pm - The guy's in custody, but there's still a fight on the scene. Back to covering only our area.

2:41pm - Criminal damage in progress. Springfield and Armitage. Two males in tanktops (it's not that warm out, guys) tagging a house between Harding and Springfield on Armitage.

2:50 to 3:35pm - I wasn't paying too much attention.

3:47pm - Some job at 2130 N Karlov.

4:32pm - Assist the citizen. 4404 W Fullerton. At International Foods. Female in her 80s says she's lost.

4:37pm - Vice complaint. On 2535's Beat.

4:40pm - That's werid. An umarked unit just flew west on Diversey from Ridgeway with lights and sirens. There hasn't been a job in this is immeadiate area for hours.

4:44pm - There's some gang activity in my immeadiate area right now. I observed five of them heading north towards George. They were looking at a woman like they wanted to harm her. They were also noisy and they definately looked they were ready for trouble. So, people living in the area of George and Ridgeway, use caution when out tonight. I think these punks are looking for trouble.

5:18pm - Beat 2561Eddie has an emergency. Springfield and Palmer. Possible male teen with a gun ran into a house on the corner. The teen's described as 5'7, grey shirt and grey cap.

5:25pm - I really think there is going to be some trouble tonight in this area. I just saw two of the five gangbangers I saw earlier again, on bikes.

5:44pm - Beat car 2522 had a job on Avers somewhere, but it's coded.

5:45pm - 1) Disturbance. 3069 N Milwaukee. Female causing problems in the store. 2) Traffic accident. 2519 N Pulaski.

5:52pm - Parker. 3911 W Belmont.

5:54pm - WTH? Dispatch just dispatched 2522 to the disturbance on Milwaukee, but 2523 was already assigned it. Dispatch reads out the narrative, that "seven men are in the store, not buying anything, loitering". But that job is for 2259 N Lorel, on 2515's Beat. Weird. Dispatch must either be sleepy or on something. I think it's the latter. 2523 recongizes this error and tries to tell the dispatcher, but she didn't listen.

6:08pm - 3069 Milwaukee is coded 19P. 2523 is heading to the 5:52pm job. Dispatch said she's not sure why her partner gave that job out to 2522 as well.

6:45pm - Gang disturbance. 24XX N Ridgeway. They're flashing signs.

7:04pm - I have to go eat. With that, I'm gone. But just for tonight. Good night, everyone, and please be safe :).

Reckless Motorbiking On Kearsarge

Good evening, everyone, it's 7:25pm. I'm finally back after taking two and a half days off from here. How are all of you doing, and did you miss me? Anyway, I'm monitoring until midnight, then I'll make a new post at that time and after the first call after midnight, I'll do some other stuff and then go to bed. Tomorrow, I'll monitor until dinner time. Back to the present, the sun's setting right now and it's in the mid to low 40s at the moment. We'll see what kind of crime happens with this kind of weather. Here's crime for tonight.

7:41pm - Reckless driver. 2900 block of N Kearsarge. Two kids on a 4-wheel ATV motor bicycle (I guess), circling the block.

8:00pm - Parker. On 2524's Beat.

8:18pm - Holding the offender. 3607 W Fullerton. At Tony's. Female being held.

8:32pm - Assist citizen. Diversey and Avers. Citizen needs help getting belongings.

8:46pm - Burglar report. 2951 N Lawndale.

8:47pm - An RD number has been pulled from the 8:18pm job. It's HS232122 with the event number is 15030.

9:14 to 9:25pm - Sounds like there is a 10-1 at Mayfield and Hirsch. Beat car 2531 responded to "Shots Fired" over there. As they did, I guess someone flashed a gun or fired a shot at the police, which caused officers to fire shots at the offenders. An offender was shot. A very rowdy crowd came out right after. Cars were needed for crowd control, as obviously, the people over there are mad with CPD. For the next several minutes, police/dispatch chatter followed. Update: An article is up on Chicago Breaking News regarding this.

9:33pm - Gang disturbance. 30XX N Monticello (exact address will not be given). They're loitering out there and the residents do not feel safe.

9:42pm - Beat car 2523Robert is on a traffic stop at 3144 N Monticello. I guess the gang disturbance is a code? They are the ones who responded.

9:48pm - There was a job at 3701 W Diversey, but it's coded by 2520.

10:34pm - Backlog in 25 at 22:34 hours.

10:37pm - Check the well being. Belmont and Central Park. Caller can't see well because they had too much to drink.

10:38pm - Domestic battery. 1736 N Central Park. Mom hit the caller.

11:08pm - Ambulance 80 is calling for a 10-1 at the 10:37pm job. Patient is fighting with paramedics. All available units are going. Supposedly, the guy's a mental.

11:11pm - A slow down is being given on the 10-1. There's not even an ambulance on scene.

11:12pm - Officers are questioning the fire call takers/dispatchers. The cops are clearly pissed about this. They clog up the air with comments (I would, too, if I were CPD in this situation). Beat 2520 wants Dispatch to have her supervisor to review the tapes of when this was called in. They're trying to figure out whether a paramedic or a citizen called it in. Needless to say, if a citizen called it in, they're in a world of trouble.

11:18pm - The patient from this 10-1 fisaco was taken to OLR Hospital. It'll be coded on CPD side's.

11:55pm - Parker. 2218 N Monticello. Premits.

Stabbing On Milwaukee This Morning

Now people are getting stabbed in our neighborhood. According to this article, a stabbing occurred in the 2100 block of North Milwaukee at about 4:20 this morning. Two men were engaged in an argument when a third man stabbed them both. One man is in critical condition after being stabbed in the chest at Illinois Masonic while the other guy was treated and released after being stabbed in the thigh. The offender was taken to Norweign after receiving a head injury then released and taken into custody.

Not known if this was gang related or not. But this sure does sound crazy. Any comments/info? Leave a comment here or email me.

Anyway, I'm feeling much better today. The toothache has gone down a lot, but it still throbs from time to time. Also, tomorrow, I'm taking a break from the blog. I'd like to enjoy my first day off. 7:43pm - Robbery. 4058 W Armitage. Caller was jumped on and had their money taken.

9:57pm - Battery. 3086 N Milwaukee. A beating just occurred inside Bristol's.

10:05pm - Violation order of protection. 1813 N Lawndale.

10:07pm - Disturbance. 3101 N Milwaukee. Allegedly, the bar refuses to serve the caller because of their race (they're not White or Polish).

10:15pm - Wanted from the 10:05pm job is a Renee Perez who is a male Hispanic. He's 43-45 yrs old, short hair, wearing all black. He fled in a 2-door Toyota with a temporary plate of 684L549.

10:16pm - An RD number has been pulled from the 10:05pm job. It's HS227599 with the event number of 17767.

10:17pm - Battery. 3031 N Avers. Complainant, who's possibly drunk, said someone slapped them in the face.

10:41pm - Suspicious vehicle. 2914 N Ridgeway. Five occupants in a black vehicle.

11:06pm - Shots Fired. 43X2 W Wrightwood. They're coming from a car that's ramming another car.

11:07pm - Couple of calls coming in on the 11:06pm job. Also coming in as Kildare and Wrightwood. This is from an accident. Smoke is coming from one car that hit a pole. Gangbangers are supposedly shooting.

11:08pm - A slow down is being given on the 11:06/11:07pm jobs.

11:22pm - Assault. 3801 W Belmont. At Dunkin Donuts. About five people, who allegedly know the caller, tried to jump in through the drive thru window to jump on them.

12:00am - I'm gone for the night. Have a good weekend, everyone :). I'll be back on Monday.

Burglar Alarm On Wrightwood

Good afternoon, everyone, it's 2:55pm. I'm home early today. That's because nearly all of the kids on my bus didn't go to school. I'm glad to be home, because it sure is cold outside. It's supposed to get into the 20s tonight. Anyway, I still have a toothache. Third day of it now. I'll be going to the dentist probably sometime next week. Also, tomorrow is my last day of school for a week. We've got Spring Break coming up, which I'm very excited for. Here's crime until 5:01pm (when I'll stop monitoring).

3:09pm - Burglar alarm. 3905 W Wrightwood.

3:37pm - Burglar alarm. 2X36 N Lawndale.

5:01pm - I'm gone for the night. Will be back tomorrow. Good night :).

Beat 2523 Meeting Last Night (3-24-10)

Good morning, everyone. Our Beat, 2523, meeting continues to grow. Even though it wasn't packed, there were still new faces at this meeting.

The old issue that was talked about from last month's meeting was the one on Avers (I'm being asked not to give out exact block numbers or addresses from this point on, and I'll explain why). With this issue, basically, the police have checked the issue out, and Sergeant Weiglein was going to issue citations on the building.

Now on to new problems:
  • On Hamlin, there's been some sort of activity going on with plywood being stolen off of a resident's building, among some other things, such as gang activity.
  • In an alley west of Pulaski, there's been dead animals found. They've had body parts chopped off. This may be some sort of ritual, according to a resident.
  • On Fletcher, there's been a new round of drug sales going on. And lots of it.
  • On Lawndale, there's been a problem with groups gathering in an alley for parties until the wee hours of the morning.
  • On Milwaukee, there's been prositution and some robberies.
  • On Kenosha, there has been lots of problems with teens coming by in cars, and then hanging out on the street/sidewalk, drinking in public and doing drugs. This issue did take up a pretty good portion of the meeting.
  • Around Diversey and Lawndale (not on our Beat) - Tons of gangbangers gather in front from 5-5:30pm, smoking blunts and stuff. They even hold up signs saying "Blunts 4 sell". This is in front of a store at that location.
  • On Haussen, there's gang graffiti, including the message "we run this 'hood".

Other observations:
> This is the about the address thing: Sergeant Weiglein and the Beat Faciliator have asked me not to publish exact addresses and blocks anymore on these reports, because residents fear retaliation from gang members and other criminals. This was brought to their attention by a resident. I just want to say, I truly apologize if I've made any of you fear retaliation and discouraged you from coming to these meetings. You should not have to live like that. I will also apply this to my reports starting now coming from the scanner regarding gang/narcotics activity. I completey understand how you feel. Like Weiglein said to me, if any of you really want addresses for these problems, go to the meetings and get them yourself. I will no longer provide them. It's not worth getting people hurt over it. And, for those of you who do blogs or have accounts on Facebook, Twitter, etc., if you're reporting on a problem, please, don't give exact addresses. We don't need idiot criminals hurting residents. But, I would appreicate it if people come to me next time with a concern about my blog first. It's not exactly nice just to go to the Beat Faciliator and the police and don't tell me about an issue.
> A resident, and a really frequent reader :), really exposed my blog at the meeting, in a good way. The person basically expressed what I do, and why I do it.
> Sergeant Weiglein has put in a request for somebody from the 911 center to come to the next meeting (April 28, 2010) to explain how the 911 operations work. They'll explain to the residents how the calls come in.
> The most incidents took place in the 2800 block of North Pulaski. The most crimes were, as usual, battery (16 reported incidents), theft (10 reported incidents) and criminal damage (8 reported incidents). The most incidents took place on Friday (12 reported incidents) and Thursdays (11 reported incidents). Most incidents took place on the street (20 reported incidents) and in apartments (11 reported incidents). The most incidents took place in the 4pm, 8pm and 10pm hours.

As usual, I thank everyone for being involved in this meeting. We can still make Avondale better, if we all do our part.

Thank you,
Timmy

Crime Blotter For March 24, 2010

Good morning, everyone, it's 5am. I'm not in such a good mood right now :(. I've been up half the night with a tooth ache. It's gone for now, but if it comes back, mom and I will try some things to make it go away, and stay away (hopefully). I'm not too sure if I'll be at tonight's Beat 2523 meeting, because of this and due to the fact my sister is feeling under the weather (and my mom is taking care of her). Anyway, it'll be in the mid 50s today. Here's crime for this morning before I leave and maybe for this afternoon/evening.

6:40am - I've been listening the whole time, and nothing has happened. Now it's time for me to go. Have a great day, everyone, and I may be back later, depending on certain stuff.

Gangbangers Beat On One On Harding

Good afternoon, everyone, it's 3:11pm. School was ok. It's nice outside. Temps are in the lower 50s and the sun is shining. Anyway, tomorrow is the Beat meeting for Beat 2523 from 7-8pm, for those of you interested. I have nothing else to say, so here's crime for this afternoon and early evening.
