Parker On 1732's Beat, Irate Man @ CVS On Addison

Good morning, everyone, it's 8:47am. It's a sunny morning with temps in the lower 30s, and today will be near 40 with sunshine. Average weather for late February. Anyway, I'm covering 17 today from now until 9:30pm, and then tomorrow night from 9:30 to midnight, I plan on concluding my coverage of 17. I also plan on monitoring 25 tomorrow afternoon after I get home from class, but we'll see. This is the last week that I'm going to be able to monitor regularly for a few weeks, because I have mid-terms coming up in school in about two weeks so I need to be ready for those. So with that said, if anyone out there has a scanner and would like to do monitoring for me once or twice a week (preferably twice, early in the week too) for the next few weeks, please just let me know. Lastly, I know I keep talking about this, but I ask that all of you please, please, PLEASE vote on the poll to your right. I've extended it until the 1st, which is Friday. I have this poll going because I want to get an idea of where my readership comes from so I can determine which areas I need to cover more and where I need to put the word out more. Okay, I'll stop talking now, LOL. Here's crime for today.

9:34am - Parker. On 1732's Beat.

1:44pm - Disturbance. 3411 W Addison. At the CVS. Irate male customer refuses to leave and the cashier is by herself, and fears for her safety

2:07pm - Beat car 1732 has a traffic stop at School and Milwaukee Ave. He's getting a municipal on the Beat after that.

2:20pm - FBI Tip. 5129 W Belmont. Coming over from Zone 12. There's supposed to be three males who are running towards LeClaire on Belmont with guns and they're chasing another guy. They just ran into the Subway there then came out and ran through Planet Fitness. They're calling this an FBI Tip since this is down the street from Foreman, and I'm writing it down because of the fact it's near Foreman.

2:21pm - Couple of more calls are coming in over on Belmont. This sounds kind of serious.

2:23pm - A slow down is being given on Belmont. Beat 1661Boy is on scene and doesn't see anyone or anything yet.

2:24pm - Okay, I'm assuming everything on Belmont is fine. But just so you all know, there's been quite a few calls for gang disturbances near Foreman today and Beat 1620 is actually anticipating some violence after school. I'll be listening for further. Until then, back to our community.

2:37pm - Traffic accident. 3929 W Addison.

4:02pm - I think there was a call in the area, but I forgot to write it down. Sorry guys.

5:45pm - Beat car 1732 has a traffic stop at Elston and Roscoe.

7:18pm - I'm going to go eat. I'll be back in a little bit.

7:48pm - I'm back. Good evening, everyone.

10:14pm - FYI to everyone, but there was a gang disturbance at about 4:30pm this afternoon on the 2800 block of N Ridgeway. Three male Hispanics in their late teens to early 20s were observed shouting gang slogans, throwing up gang signs, playing a real loud rap video on a cell phone and at one point, they picked up something off the ground and threw it across the street. I live on the block and I saw this occur, so I promptly called 911. I think they might've heard me through an open window so they instantly left. Police arrived in a minute of the call, saw no one and drove down the block, then coded it. I'm hoping this was just an isolated thing and that this isn't the start of something new on my block like it was in the last few months of 2011 into most of last year. In any event, to those who live around Diversey and Central Park, keep your eyes peeled for any activity.

10:15pm - I'm going to go for the night. I'll be back tomorrow night. See you all then, and have a good night, everyone!

In areas that don't have as much readers, I want to put my emphasis on covering those areas and start getting the word out about my blog to those parts of the community. Girl Being Threatened @ Diversey/Western/Elston, Gangbangers Tag Garage On Richmond

Good afternoon, everyone, it's 4:15pm. It's a cloudy afternoon with temps in the 30s, and tonight will remain cloudy. I'm monitoring 14 this afternoon into this evening, to make up for what I didn't do on Wednesday. I'm feeling somewhat better today, but I'm still tired. I'm just really burned out from everything and over-thinking things, but I'll be okay sooner or later. I'm not going to let any of this stuff stop me from blogging today. By the way, to the residents of Beats 1411 and 1412, I apologize for not making it out to your CAPS meeting last night like I said I would. I'm sorry, but as I have been the last two weeks or so, I've had no energy to do anything. I will make it up to you guys though, later on this year (in April or June, I haven't decided yet) and will show up for sure. Well, enough for me, here's crime.

Wanted from the shooting are two cars, one a red Chevy Trailblazer and the other a dark blue car. The shooter from the red Chevy is a male Hispanic with long black hair. The victim is okay, but is being taken to Illinois Masonic by ambulance 20. The victim is a gang member, an MLD to be exact from Barry and Spaulding, and the offenders are OAs, so this is gang-related. The red Chevy Trailblazer fled in the west alley of Sawyer towards Belmont. An RD number has been pulled from this and it's HW149370 with the event number of 12910.

BREAKING NEWS: EveryBlock, Popular Neighborhood Site, Closes Down/Community Appeal From Tim

Good morning, everyone. I have some very unfortunate news to bring to all of you this morning. Fortunately, this is not about my blog this time, but it's still bad news that deserves to be mentioned.

The popular neighborhood news site, used throughout all of Chicago actually, has shut down as of today. Personally, I'm saddened by this news, as I'm sure many of you are. EveryBlock has been a great site of information for many people, including me. We've made some great things happen in the community with EveryBlock, and EveryBlock is where I've gotten quite a bit information on regarding our community when news regarding crime breaks. Again, I stress that this is a sad situation, but that does not have to end our community involvement whatsoever.

I encourage all of my fellow EveryBlock bloggers to bring people here, to the crime blog, to read on the latest happenings about crime. As all of you know, I promote discussion (reasonable, constructive discussions, of course) about our community and I encourage people to talk about things going on in our neighborhood and what we can do to make our community better. I encourage everyone to attend CAPS meetings, I promote block clubs, etc. But this is NOT about me. This is about the well-being and safety of our community, and I cannot stress that enough. So with that said, I know at least a few of you are off-edge lately due to my lack of updates in the last few weeks, and that's where this idea can come in: For those with police scanners, why not make contributions to this blog? Even if you don't have a scanner, I welcome any kind of information anyone has on crime or neighborhood happenings to post here, but I do prefer those with scanners so that the community can follow what is happening in real time. And, the best thing about being able to post here? I don't ask you to make regular contributions. You can do what is best for you and your schedule. If you have some free time overnight to post, great! If you don't, mornings and afternoons can work just as well. If you are interested in helping make your community a better place by means of blogging here, do not hesitate to reach out to me. I am very reachable by both the blog's email and my personal email address, and a few of you do also have my cell phone number. I can even meet up with anyone who's interested in person. But the important thing is here, even with EveryBlock's unfortunate closing, please DO NOT stop the community involvement. If anything, this should motivate us even more.

For more information on EveryBlock's closing, please visit their goodbye post on the EveryBlock site. And, if you have any questions, comments or concerns for them, please don't hesitate to reach out to them. Also, if you have anything you'd like to ask me about this, I encourage all of you to contact me.

Let's continue to strive to make our community a better place for ALL in 2013!

Good morning, everyone, it's 8:50am. It's a cloudy morning with temps in the upper teens, and today will be mostly cloudy with temps in the lower 20s. I hope you all are ready for this weather system coming in later tonight into tomorrow morning, because it's going to impact your rush-hour commute. From what I'm hearing, we're supposed to be getting three to six inches of snow overnight tonight into tomorrow, then more snow's coming in Tuesday. This is making up for all the snow we haven't had, I guess. Anyway, I'm monitoring 25 today from now until 12:52pm, then I'll come back after my dinner. I have no interest in the Superbowl this year, so I won't be watching it. Whatever team you're rooting for, may the best men win. Lastly, I plan on covering 14 tomorrow. Street Lights Out @ Belmont/Milwaukee Ave., Loud Music On Springfield

Good morning, everyone, it's 2:17am. It's a snowy morning with temps in the mid teens, and today will be snowy with temps around 20. Average day for early February, I guess. By the way, I know I haven't really been posting lately, but this second semester of college has me really busy. I have four classes, so that's eight hours of coursework each day. I also have other personal things I'm doing and working on, so that doesn't help. But I'm going to try my very best to blog at least three times a week this month, if not everyday, for this month. March will be a very limited month for my blogging, at least for the first half of the month, as I have mid-terms to worry about. The end of April and beginning of May will also be a period of very limited blogging, for finals. I'm not sure what my monitoring schedule is going to be for May through August yet, as I'm not sure if I'm going to take any summer classes or work just yet. I'll know by the end of this month or in March. Anyway, today, I'm monitoring 25 from now until my dinner, and I'm monitoring 25 tomorrow from after my dinner until a little after midnight. 7:12pm - I have to go eat, and with that, I'm gone for the night. I'll be back tomorrow morning at 8:50am. See you all then, and have a good night, everyone!
