Fight @ Belmont/Central Park, Traffic Stop @ Rockwell/Belmont

Good morning, everyone, it's 2:54am. Sorry for being gone for a couple of days. Got extremely busy Wednesday and Thursday, then went out of town to Milwaukee yesterday. Had a very relaxing time in Milwaukee, which was much needed. Anyway, I'm monitoring 17 this overnight until 7:21am. I'll be monitoring 25 tomorrow. Speaking of tomorrow, tomorrow will be the first day my new summer schedule will go into effect for this blog. As many of you are probably aware, every year from June to September, I go on an all day everyday monitoring schedule, or at least try to, and this summer will be no exception. Although, I will have to warn you guys now, there will probably be some days I don't monitor in the summer, especially from mid June to late July. In addition to a summer class that I'm taking starting next Thursday that meets on Tuesdays/Thursdays from 8am to 10:40am, I will have Student Government responsibilities as well as be working, as I was hired for a summer job at my school. I'll only be working part-time during June and July as registration is not all that busy and the fact I'm taking a class, but I'll be full-time in August until classes for the fall starts, when the job ends. I'm sorry to be going on and on, but I do want to let all of you know so you are not caught off guard. With that, here's crime for this overnight and early morning.

6:38am - Beat 1795 has a traffic stop at Rockwell and Belmont.

"Take Back Our Neighborhoods" Rally

Hello everyone! I hope everyone is well. I'm writing this post to see if anyone else got an e-mail Wednesday evening from their Alderman's office, letting us know about the "take back the neighborhood" campaign that Emmanuel wants the residents to do (for the sake of the community, I'll hold back my personal opinion) tonight, Friday, May 23rd from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. I know this is on very short notice for many, but what do all of you think about just gathering a bunch of residents and walking the streets of SW Avondale and NW Logan Square, particularly around the Koz Park area (where this area seems to have most of its problems)? I'm open to suggestions or anything else anyone else may have.

By the way, on the same subject, we had a relatively large brawl between some Cobras and what probably was a rival gang Wednesday night on the 2800 block of N Ridgeway Ave., around 11:30pm. I observed at least 12 to 15 males running through the street, fighting and throwing bottles. I called 911 right away and a couple of other people did too, with one person even reporting that there were shots fired. About five or six of those guys came out of a sliver car (couldn't tell the type of car) and then that car came back a few minutes later and picked up the same guys and then went south on Ridgeway to Diversey. I didn't get to see which direction it went on Diversey.

Appreciate your feedback in advance. I'm all ears!

Sincerely,
Tim "Timmy" Granzow

Update, 2:13am, 5/24/2014 - I've decided to blog those calls regarding the gang fight that occurred. There were at least two calls (I made one) on the 2800 block of N Ridgeway for a gang fight going on. My call reported bottles being thrown and the other one reported six male Hispanics fighting and they reportedly fired three gunshots. Additionally, a description was given. One had on a gray shirt and a ponytail. Two others had on black shirts and some others had on white shirts. That was a very accurate description, might I add. These calls were dispatched at 11:34pm. At 11:35, a call was dispatched about a man in his 20s, in a white tanktop running towards George on Ridgeway. CPD arrived at 11:36pm and had one stopped.

Traffic Stop @ North Ave./Winchester, Car Parked On Corner @ St. Louis/McLean

Good morning, everyone, it 12am. I'm monitoring 14 today from now until about 12:30am or so, then again from about 8am to 12:08pm, and then I plan to monitor 14 again after 3:38pm to 8:54pm. Cold day for this time of year with temps in the lower 50s, and with rain at that. Anyway, I wanted to announce to all of you that I applied for a summer job at my school as a Student Ambassador and I'm happy to report that I have the job. I start in mid-June and this job will go until late August, the Saturday before school starts. I'll be working 100 hours total with this job, with 50 of the hours that need to be done in August, as that is the busiest time for students registering for fall classes. The other 50 hours need to be done in June and July, and I'm sure the hours will be divided up further. So what does this mean for the blog? In addition to a morning class I'm taking on Tuesdays/Thursdays starting June 5th and with doing some work in Student Government, I'll be working 5 to 10 hours a week on campus, which means I still will have time for the blog, but not as much as I initially thought I would. In August, I'll probably have some time to blog as well, but probably not all day everyday. In other words, we will see how this summer goes. I'm hoping I can blog a lot more than I did last summer. With that, here's crime for today.
