Update From Tim/Opinion on Archives

Hello, everyone! I hope all of you are doing well and have had a wonderful year so far! As we come to a close for the year of 2015, I wanted to say that I miss all of you. I sincerely apologize for all of those out there who were let down by my announcement in July 2014 when I announced that I was ending this blog. I am hoping that the neighborhood outside of my immediate area has been very quiet and despite my absence from being involved, things continue to improve. To give a brief update on what I'm doing nowadays and everything, I have earned my Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice as of May 2015 from Wright College, and completed my first semester at Northeastern Illinois University a few weeks ago. I am obtaining my Bachelor's Degree in Justice Studies. With being a part-time Testing Specialist (proctoring tests) at Wright College, it changed my mind a lot on what exactly it is I want to do. I am planning on going into the Higher Education field or in a related field so that I can have a career in that sector, serving students. I have a number of plans and time will just have to tell what God wants me to do (I am a born-again Christian for those who did not know, and not ashamed whatsoever to admit it). My time management skills are getting a bit better, but I still have a lot of obligations to fulfill. Lastly, I still have a LOT of archives from this blog from months and years ago, going back to June 2013, to listen to. Which brings me to the point of doing this post.

I wanted to get an idea on your opinions regarding the archives I have yet to do, spanning from 2013. In your  honest opinion, should I or should I not do them? Your feedback would REALLY be appreciated. If I get a majority of comments indicating no, I will no longer pursue this. It will greatly free up my time, and it may actually put me at a step closer in coming back to do this blog at some point in 2016. If yes, I should do them, I will begin to work on them this week. Please, do take the time to express any feedback you have.

With that said, here is the latest status on whether this blog will permanently end or not. In all honestly, I do not have much time right now to keep the blog updated daily or even once a week. There is simply too much I still need to get done. Though, with me being on break from school and work for the summer until January 12th, there is a good chance that I will be able to catch up on a lot of archives as well as personal things. So with that said, if everything works out the way I plan for it to, I plan on making a full come back for this blog by March or April of 2016. By that time, I also want to begin putting my foot back in the door of neighborhood involvement. Since I ended this blog a year and a half ago, I have not attended any community meetings or CAPS Beat meetings.

If anyone wants to at all help keep this effort, or to even contribute ideas, please do let me know. I will still be checking my crime blotter e-mail address (avondalelscrimeblotter@gmail.com). The Facebook page was deleted due to inactivity, but if and when I make a come back, I will create a new one. I will also have a Twitter account. The blog will NOT be deleted, as I want to keep it up to give people an idea of how things have happened over the years, and there is possibility that I may return in the near future. I truly want to have this effort keep going. There are not many words I can describe to say how I would feel if there was another strong leader who could take charge and pick up from where I left off. I want this momentum to be revived and brought back to my original vision of being a neighborhood voice, to unify people and keep each other informed.

Hoping that you and your families had a joyful and peaceful holiday season, and here is to a great 2016! Happy New Year!!

Truly Yours,

Update From Tim/Archive Statuses

Hello, everyone! I hope all of you are doing well and have had a wonderful year so far. I sincerely apologize for all of those out there who were let down by my announcement in July 2014 when I announced that I was ending this blog. I am hoping that the neighborhood outside of my immediate area has been very quiet and despite my absence from being involved, things continue to improve. To give a brief update on what I'm doing nowadays and everything, I have earned my Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice as of May 2015 from Wright College, and will be starting at Northeastern Illinois University in Fall 2015 to work on obtaining my Bachelor's Degree, though Criminal Justice is not a field I really want to go into anymore. With being a part-time Student Ambassador/Clerical Assistant at Wright College, it changed my mind a lot on what exactly it is I want to do. I am planning on going into the Education field or in a related field so that I can have a career in that sector, serving students. Though, I may also go into a career related in Criminal Justice. I wanted to let all of you that as of this evening, I am going to FINALLY begin posting calls and/or posts from archives I have during the time I blogged.

With that said, here is the latest status on whether this blog will permanently end or not. In all honestly, I do not have much time right now to keep the blog updated daily or even once a week. There is simply too much I still need to get done. Though, with me being on break from school for the summer until August and only working 20 hours a week presently, there is a good chance that I will be able to catch up on a lot of archives as well as personal things. So with that said, if everything works out the way I plan for it to, I plan on making a full come back for this blog by August. By that time, I also want to begin putting my foot back in the door of neighborhood involvement. Since I ended this blog last year, I have not attended any community meetings or CAPS Beat meetings.

Please find below the list of archives I will be starting today, June 13, 2015:
  • Monday, June 17, 2013 from 1:28pm to 8:28pm (Zone 12)
  • Wednesday, June 19, 2013 from 12:58pm to 4:12pm (Zone 1)
  • Tuesday, June 25, 2013 from 9:42am to 2:18pm (Zone 3) -- possibly [?].
I also plan to work on additional archives within the next few days. Most likely, I will work on another archive or two tonight, and then work on quite a few on Monday, June 15th.

Happy New Year! (2015)

Good morning, everyone, and Happy New Year to everyone!!! It's 12:00am. Yes, I am blogging, but for this evening only crossing into the first few hours of this morning as we celebrate the new year of 2015. Now that we're going into 2015, our best days are still yet to come. It's time to ring in a new year of new ideas, new opportunities, new energy, etc. I have confidence that our neighborhood will only continue to improve even more and that more community involvement will come. As far as my status of doing this blog goes, I still do not have much time to regularly update nor do I feel like I have enough passion to resume this blog regularly. I am honestly hoping that I am inspired to update this blog again on a regular basis this year, and being confident that I somehow will, I will return sometime this year, most likely between March and June. Before I come back, I will give advanced notice and will prepare to make a full comeback. Until then, please enjoy this overnight coverage. I will be covering 25. I am unfortunately not able to listen to 14 and 17 at the same time. What I plan on doing is getting my subscription renewed for RadioReference by next week, and when that happens, I will start to listen to archives. With that, here's crime for first day of 2015.

12:06am - Shots Fired. 29XX N Lawndale.

12:09am - Per Beat 2599, Dispatch is to read out the calls of "Shots Fired" and keep them on their board until officers are available to check out each individual call. There is simply too much going on right now, especially in 15.

12:14am - 1) Shots Fired. Armitage and Karlov. In front of the bar. 2) Shots Fired. Harding and Belden.

12:26am - Shots Fired. Palmer and Springfield.

12:38am - Shots Fired. 25XX N Lowell. In the alley. Lots of gunshots heard.

12:46am - Suspicious vehicle. 29XX N Springfield. Burgundy minivan with temporary plates with two or three guys inside is trying to hit other vehicles, last seen heading towards George on Springfield.

12:48am - Assault in progress. 30XX N Haussen Ct. Male in a gray Taurus hit several vehicles and now several people are outside, surrounding the guy's vehicle and threatening him. One person is holding the subject.

1:02am - Check the well being. 28XX N Springfield. Female arguing with a guy over a phone line.

1:15am - Battery in progress. 2500 N Central Park. Twenty people fighting in the alley between Central Park and Drake.

1:30am - Loud music disturbance. 36XX W Palmer. Party on the 2nd floor.

1:36am - Speed chase. Speed chase. Beat 1567Adam has a car taking off from them at Central and Lake. It is a sliver Lexus with a has a plate of E152119. Headed west towards Parkside on Lake St. Not sure what he's wanted for.

1:37am - East on Kinize towards Laramie. Wanted for possible DUI.

1:38am - West on Ohio from Laramie. About 15 seconds later, 1567A has the car curved over at Race and Lockwood. There's a few units on scene now. Back to regular neighborhood coverage now.

1:39am - Beat 2530Robert just heard a few loud reports southwest of 23XX N Harding. Per Beat 2520Robert, there were a few calls of "Shots Fired" near Springfield and Palmer/Dickens.

2:02am - This concludes my coverage of New Year's Day and of our neighborhood. Over the next couple of days, I will be back to do archives from 2013 as I need to desperately catch up on those. And at some point this month, I will try my best to also start doing archives of 14 and 17 from New Year's Eve (from 10pm to 12am) and New Year's Day (12am to 2am). Other than that, I will not be regularly blogging for a while. I truly hope all of you have enjoyed this coverage and have had also appreciate looking back on the archives. I wish all of you well, and wish you and yours a very prosperous, healthy, safe and happy 2015!!! Good night everyone!
