3:00 to 4:10pm - Nothing too major happened, other then the police being called to a Criminal Sexual Assault report (should've been attempted kidnapping) on the 2800 block of N Ridgeway. It happened to my sister at about 1:30pm today. She was walking towards Walgreens (at Diversey and Pulaski) when a Checker's (possibly) yellow cab, with some checkers on it, stopped her at around Diversey and Avers and the cab driver, a middle eastern man in his 30s with a white long sleeved T-shirt, tried to lure her into the cab. She ran towards Walgreens. She asked an employee there to call police but they did not. She came back home and my mom called police. Beat car 2546 responded but coded it out because the solo officer said he could do nothing unless he had a cab number which my sister did not get to see. So, to all females in the area, please be careful! The guy who did this is some kind of creep.

My observations on school

Hello, everyone. I've decided to make a special post just for this week, being finals and all. Here are my observations.

January 20: On Tuesday, things were pretty whacked up with the schedule change for the week but considerbly calm. Other then some loudness and a kid getting arrested for I don't know what (seemed pretty intense since there were about six cops near the kid and one officer yelling at the kid), it was pretty calm.

January 21: I've decided to be positive for today. On Wednesday, when I went to English class to do a test, I observed all of the kids in there doing their test and really paying attention to it. So, good job to them and hope all their finals go well.

January 22: Being positive again. On Thursday, I observed crowds of kids heading to their classes and other kids doing what they were told. Good job to all of those kids!

Girl cuts herself at Ames school

Good afternoon, everyone, it's 3:05pm. Well, I was not here for this morning because I was in a rush, LOL, but I'm here now. Anyway, I have word that some kind of shoot out happened at Diversey and Lawndale last night. A good source of mine tells me that a van's windows were shot out in this shooting and the police were litterally driving by as it happened, so they chased the offending car down Diversey to Ridgeway, where they made a right and made a left in the north alley of Diversey. That is where the red unmarked unit lost the offender. Also, today was my final day of testing, so I'm glad for that. So, in conclusion, here's crime for this Thursday afternoon.

2:46pm - EMS run. 1920 N Hamlin. At the Ames school. Girl cut herself at school.

2:52pm - Battery. 3943 W Diversey. Someone hit someone.

3:03pm - Sounds like either the 2:46pm or 2:52pm job was coded out 19BoyFrank.

3:10 to 3:29pm - Breaking news. Large fights are breaking out all over. First one broke out at Michelle Clark High School, 5101 W Harrison. Large group of people were throwing objects and fighting. 1576Sam called for back-up on that one. That one was broken up and four are being taken into 15th. Second one breaks out somewhere in 15. No word on that one. The third and final one (for now) broke out at LeMoyne and Linder. One of the 25th district cars said there were 25 people breaking into groups and walking in all directions. At that fight, people in a car pulled up and pulled a gun out on the crowd then fled north on Luna from the fight. This stuff is insane. I'm waiting on the big crowds to build up around here because I have a feeling they might.

4:05pm - Gang disturbance. 3628 W Shakespeare. Group of gang members doing "whatever they do" (quoted by dispatch).

4:26pm - Battery. 3636 W Wolfram. At the church. A priest is with a male who was beaten up.

4:32pm - Person calling for help. 3033 N Monticello. Female calling for help. An argument could be heard in the background.

5:07pm - A flash is given out from the 4:26pm job. A male 2, possibly Hispanic, 5 feet tall, wearing an unknown coat, sunglasses, blue jeans, with cheese (or keys) dangling from his jean pockets destroyed some church property and beat the crud out of someone. Police are going to tour the area for this offender.

5:13pm - Burglar alarm. 2853 N Pulaski. Alternative something. No further.

5:15 to 6:07pm - Took a nap, so of course I didn't hear anything.

6:08pm - One of the Beat cars needs a unit to drive in a vehicle for them at Schubert and Hamlin. Beat car 2543 said they will do it.

6:20pm - All of the rapid response cars coming out at 18:00 (6:00pm) hours in 25 are heading to Belmont and Central Park for a joint roll call with the 14th district at 18:45 hours.

6:39pm - Disturbance with a mental. 3603 W Cortland. A male needs to go to the hospital.

6:40pm - Battery in progress. 3700 W Belden. Group of males got out of a car and started fighting.

6:43pm - I'm going to go eat. I'll be back.

7:01pm - Beat 2550 says that there is going to be a combined mission with the 14th district tonight. Boundries are Belmont to the north, Central Park to the east, Armitage to the south and Konster to the west. All rapids that started at 18:00 hours will be used in this mission and they can take jobs. The 2563 team will also be in this mission.

7:20pm - I'm back from dinner.

7:30pm - Assist the police. 2504 N Monticello. Dispatch is putting the narrative on the PDT since it seems difficult for her to read it.

7:36pm - 1) Battery in progress. 4343 W Wrightwood. At Kelvyn Park High School. There's a group fight taking place. 2) Parker. Somewhere on 2523's beat.

8:25pm - I'm going to go for a little while to do some other things, but I will be back :-).

Around 9:35pm - A 10-1 happened at 1535 N Central. Huge fight broke out and someone started fighting with police which at that point, an officer on Beat car 2531 called a 10-1. Multiple units rushed to the scene and Beat 2543 took the offender to the 25th district for processing.

Around 9:50pm - Something went down on George (sounded like a street fight) in the coverage area. Not sure what though.

Well, I have another day of testing at school and my schedule is as follows: 2nd period from 8-9am, Division from 9:04-9:34am, 5th period from 9:38-10:38am (my lunch period), 8th period from 10:42-11:42am, Unknown period (lunch for the 4th, 6th and 7th period kids) from 11:46am-12:30pm, Gym from 12:34-1:20pm then it's time to go home at 1:30pm. Anyway, I'm getting word from a good source that there was a foot chase on Ridgeway last night, somewhere on either the 2800 or 2900 blocks. The police were chasing a man who ran from them on Springfield and made his way over to Ridgeway. I'm guessing the guy was caught because it's said the officer was handcuffing the guy a minute later with tons of police cars pulling up. There's not an exact time on when this happened, but it was probably after I went to bed at 7pm last night. Well, here is crime for this morning (from now to when my bus comes) and this afternoon.

6:23am - One of the Beat cars does a premise check at 1747 N Springfield, the pumping station.

4:54pm - Injured person report. 3143 N Milwaukee. At the Taco Bell. A female fell and got injured as she exited a CTA bus.

4:57pm - Recover stolen auto. 3927 W Belden. A '95 Buick needs to be recovered.

5:03pm - The lady from the 4:57pm job does not need a report. 19Paul.

5:12pm - Domestic disturbance. 3704 W Fullerton. The brother is fighting the caller and other people in front.

5:23pm - The caller on the 5:12pm job seems to have relocated to Hamlin and Dickens in a white van.

6:00pm - Suspicious vehicle. Schubert and Springfield. A vehicle has been sitting there for a long time.

6:10pm - I have to go eat dinner.

6:32pm - Reckless driver. North and Pulaski. Car keeps slamming on the brakes. Looks like whoever's driving is trying to cause an accident.

6:34pm - Gang disturbance. Hamlin and Altgeld. Ten gang members with bats. They look like they're waiting for someone. Also, I'm back from dinner.

6:35pm - Beat car 2524 saids they just shagged the 6:34pm group from Altgeld and Avers.

6:52pm - I have to go do some stuff before bed, so I will be back tomorrow. Good night, everyone, and be safe.

Shooting at Diversey and Albany last night

Yep. The title's right. There was a shooting last night at Diversey and Albany. From the two emails I recieved about it, it happened at about 6:30pm by the store. From what I'm gathering, two gang members were shot. A total of six shots were fired, I'm told. It is not known if the vitcims were just wounded or if they died. It's also not known if the shooting was gang related but I will try to gather information on it.

It seems the non sense of shootings has started up again. This is like the third shooting, I believe, in about three weeks in the neighborhood. It's getting out of hand again. Why are these shootings happening? Gang related stuff, a grudge, boyfriend/girlfriend issues or all of the things listed? I think everything listed, but whatever it is, it has to stop. For crying out loud, the shooting happened on a special holiday. It also took place about two or three blocks from the Blue Line station at Milwaukee and Kedzie, where tons and tons of commuters are at almost every minute of each day. Imagine if this happened at the station. We would've had a major mess on our hands.

I really hope the offenders are caught and arrested. This kind of non sense shouldn't be happening. If you really want to shoot someone, go to a war zone or something and battle it out there.

- Thank you,
AvondaleLoganSquareCrimeBlotter

UPDATE, at 6:19pm: I'm told that one vitcim was shot in the arm, leg and face and is due for plastic surgery while another vitcim was shot in the head and is in critical condition.

UPDATE, 1/23/09: The incident is confirmed to be gang related. I'm told that this incident did not "start" at Diversey and Albany, but "ended" there after a police chase. Also, the vitcim that was shot in the head is now brain dead.

UPDATE, 11/24/09: I recieved a comment from someone claiming to be a relative of one of the vitcims. They're saying the vitcim wasn't a gangbanger. They allege he was saying "hi" to some of his friends when he was shot.

Inauguration day

Good morning to all of my readers. It's 6:50am. Today is a real big day. Not just for me, but for my entire country. Today is Inauguration Day 2009. That means our new president, Barack Obama, will be put into office. I surely hope with him there is change in this country. Anyway, another reason why this is a real big day is because I've got testing today (my very first test to this extent of my high school career). I've got testing today, tomorrow and Thursday. My peers and I in my classroom get to leave school at 1:30pm (everyone else leaves at 11:45am, but the stubborn bus company will not send the buses earlier than 1pm) so I'll be home by 2:30pm. My observations on school

Hi everyone, this week has been one of the most non-violent (with the exception of Monday) weeks I've seen at Sullivan since September. That's good to see.

January 13: On Tuesday, we went on a field trip to the Muesum of Surgical Science. It was pretty nice. When I got back to school, though, I saw a paddy wagon parked out in front. Probably to break up more fights/take kids in.

January 14: On Wednesday, it was actually quite calm. Other than the loudness (wasn't actually too loud) at times and possibly one fight, it was calm, so that was good to see.

January 15: On Thursday, things were very calm for some reason (good thing though). I observed no altercations/fights whatsoever.

January 16: On Friday, nothing much was going on. There were some altercations and possibly a fight or two (little fights at it), but nothing too major. Glad it's TGIF, though.

- Thanks,
Avondale/Logan Square Crime Blotter

P.S. My next observations of school will be coming Thursday.

My observations on school

Hello everyone, this week wasn't too out of control.

January 6: On Tuesday, we went on a field trip to Lincolnwood Town Center to shop around and learn how to spend money (which I almost missed, due to oversleeping). It was pretty interesting, to me anyway. When I got back to school, we just did circle time then went home.

January 7: There was an assembly regarding school safety.

January 8: On Thursday, things got crazy in the afternoon. In the morning, it was pretty calm (with the exception of an altercation or two), but in the afternoon, things started exploding. Two girls were fighting on the 1st floor hallway as I was returning to my classroom from my 7th period class, but that's not all. One boy almost knocked over some people running up the stairs from a girl. Now here where things really get crazy. One of the aides in my classroom (I will not reveal his name out of privacy/protection) was monitoring the hallways and when the second bell rang, he walked up to a boy still getting stuff out of his locker and told him simply (not in a mean or nice way) to get to class. The boy snapped. He was yelling at the aide, telling him things like "don't tell me what to do!" and other things. As the altercation drew out, it got louder. The boy started to threaten the aide and walk up to him, trying to hit him, screaming profane words and "whatcha gonna do?!" at him while the aide just remained calm and kept telling him to go to class and stop acting out. After a minute or two, security was notified of what was happening and they came. When security tried to restrain this boy and to take him calmly to the police room (since he was going to be arrested for threatening a CPS employee), he started to fight with them, so they called in for police. Two officers came over and when they tried to handcuff the boy, he was still fighting with them, so it took at least eight or nine officers to restrain him. He probably got put in either a cage car or a wagon, because from where I was sitting in my classroom, I saw through the classroom door window that at least four officers were leading him out and the aide was talking to another officer. That sure was crazy, and I only witnessed about 15 seconds of it (the rest of it was either heard from someone else or hearing it from my classroom so nobody complained that I was being nosy or standing there too long).

January 9: On Friday, things were calm compared to Thursday afternoon. While going to/coming from/in my classes, I only observed the here and there argument and an incident of disrespect towards a teacher (it got on my nerves, but it wasn't nothing compared to Thursday afternoon). Otherwise, things were calm. In other news, I helped one of my teachers cook the food for movie day in the classroom along with three other students.

January 12: Today, Monday, things were so insane that it wasn't funny. A major brawl broke out shortly after noon, at about 12:10pm. I have no clue on many people were involved in the melee, but it was huge. Security couldn't get it under control. Even the police had to call for back up. I'm guessing the fight was stopped after a few minutes. Other then the brawl, I observed a teacher being cussed out by a student, more disrespect to a teacher, arguments, etc. I'll be glad if we go on our field trip tomorrow (may be cancelled to the forecasted blizzard). I'll get to escape from there.

- Thanks,

Cops try to prevent group fights last night

Good morning. It's 6:42am. Besides the large group gatherings/fights (in the area of Barry and Monticello) last night around here, nothing else really happened. Wait, I take that back. A reader over at "Broken Heart" really pissed me off this morning. On Craig's post yesterday (about my observations at Sullivan), this guy decides to talk down on my disabled peers and myself, about why we went to a shopping mall (to learn how to SPEND MONEY, perhaps?) and about how we go on weekly trips. Personally, that's nobody's business on why we go. If you want to know so much, come travel with us weekly. I explained to this guy, scarcastally and in a very pissed off mode, why we do this. He isn't going to like my response, but too bad. He should have never asked in the first place. He should've only discussed what goes down at my crazy school instead of deciding to talk down on my disabled peers and I. We don't deserve that treatment. We've never done anything to anybody. Here is crime for today.

7:34pm - I'm back. It looks like there's been a shooting at Dickens and Konster. Person was shot in the leg. Crime scene was found at 2054 N Konster.

8:03pm - I have to go now. Good night everyone. I'll be back tomorrow. It's been rather quiet around here today.
