Good morning, everyone, it's 12:19am. Today, I'm going to be monitoring 14 on the scanner. It's going to be near 60 degrees today, so this will be my first time monitoring 14 when it's (kind of) warm out. Here is crime for today.
12:17am - Suspicious vehicle. North and Milwaukee. Male Hispanics in a brown van are acting suspicious, doing weird stuff and bothering the caller.
12:26am - Stripping the auto in progress. Kedzie and Avondale. Someone's stripping a vehicle.
12:27am - EMS run. Kedzie and Milwaukee. At the bus turnaround. 56 yr old male is passing out.
12:28am - DUI driver. Sacramento and Logan. A blue Honda has a drunk driving who is swerving in and out of traffic. The car is heading south on Sacramento, but now the car is in an alley. The driver is relieving himself. Also, this is the last call I'm covering for a few hours while I sleep. Good night, everyone, and I'll be back in the morning.
9:25am - I'm back. Anyway, multiple calls for shots fired at 2539, 2535 W and other addresses on Cortland. Male Hispanic with a black hoodie and a design on his head fired some shots. He's fleeing eastbound.
9:26am - Still getting calls on the 9:25am job. Multiple units en route.
9:27am - More information on the 9:25am job has came out. Now a black van is following the shooter.
9:28am - Beat car 1431 has the black van stopped at Bloomingdale and Talman. He's got a few units with him and has recovered a fully loaded gun.
9:29am - Beat 1431 is asking if there was anybody shot or shot at.
9:30am - Beat car 1434 says there may a bullet hole at 2539 W Cortland.
9:32am - Beat 1431 is running a plate on the van.
9:33am - Beat car 1431's plate comes back clear and valid.
9:34am - Beat 1411 asks for a gang and narcotics mission event number. Boundaries for this misson are Central Park-Belmont-Wrightwood-Sacramento. The event number is 06028.
9:35am - 1) Parker. 2145 N Humboldt. No further information. 2) Beat car 1431 asks for a two man unit to transport a car into 14 for him. Dispatch says there is no two man units except for 1471, the wagon, but they're on a transport.
9:36am - Beats 1412, 1414 and 1431 are going to transport the car into 14.
9:37am - Open window. 3129 W Armitage. At the Subway. It sounds like one of the back windows are open and that some subjects may be attempting a burglary.
9:41am - Beat car 1424 asks dispatch if there are any vitcims from the Cortland shooting. Dispatch replies no.
9:42am - Beat 1434 tells 1424 that there is no vitcim. Also, a couple of guys were shooting at each other near the vacant lot by the empty house. However, all callers were anoymous.
9:44am - Beat car 1423 asks if there's any other history at the 9:37am job. Dispatch is looking.
9:50am - It sounds like that the Cortland shooter may have been arrested.
9:56am - Parker. 2648 W George. A caddy is blocking the garage. It's coded out 6Paul for now.
9:57am - Suspicious vehicle. North and Humboldt. A grey vehicle is sitting in the middle of the street.
10:01am - An RD number has pulled on the 9:37am job. It's HR216685 with the event number of 06030.
10:07am - Hold up alarm. 2881 N Elston. Hold-up alarm at the Campbell/Elston food market.
10:12am - Everything is ok at the 10:07am job per 1410. The owners are going to call the alarm company since they didn't sound the alarm.
10:13am - 1) The 10:07am job is coded out 1Paul. 2) Beat 1422 says there was a break-in at the business next door from the 9:37am job.
10:15am - The alarm's going off again at the 10:07am job.
10:21am - Domestic disturbance. 2213 N Rockwell. Domesticating with the boyfriend.
10:37am - Domestic disturbance. 1750 N Spaulding. Apartment 306. The ex-boyfriend is refusing to leave.
10:41am - Parker. 1610 N Damen. Six meter violators.
10:47am - The 10:21am job is coded out 1Paul.
11:26am - Narcotics. Whipple and Wabansia. Male Black, 6 feet tall, brown hat, shaven head and who's last name is Gaddy is walking back and forth selling crack. The crack is in one of his pockets.
11:27am - Beat 1434 is doing a community concern on the 2300 block of W Bloomingdale.
11:34am - Beat car 1433 needs a female for a search at the 11:26am job. A female, 1413, is coming since she was orginally assigned to the job with 1422.
11:43am - Beat 1471 is doing a check somewhere on Milwaukee.
11:46am - Beat car 1433 is dispersing two from the 11:26am job.
11:54am - Theft in progress. 1616 N Artesian. One female White and two female Hispanics are in the vacant buliding, stealing stuff.
11:56am - Beat 1420 is in the back of the 11:54am job.
12:00pm - A slow down is given on the 11:54am job.
12:07pm - Domestic disturbance. 3453 W North. The mother was hitting the caller while they were holding their baby.
12:12pm - 1) Assault in progress. 1645 N Spaulding. The 2nd floor tenants and their friends, in a group of about 20, are threatening the caller. Possibly gang related. 2) Landlord/tenant dispute. 1833 N Kimball. Having a problem with the tenant. 3) Traffic accident. Milwaukee and Spaulding. A female Hispanic that is driving a green car hit a maroon car.
12:23pm - Loud music disturbance. 2500 N Milwaukee. Guys in a yellow vehicle are blasting the music so loud that 2) Parker. Somewhere on the 2800 block of W Palmer. No further information. 3) Parker. 3080 W Palmer. A car is blocking the street.
12:37pm - They're calling back on the 9:35am job.
12:39pm - Beat car 1413 gets a hand waver at Diversey/Kimball/Milwaukee from a citizen that says there's a gas leak at Milwaukee and Allen. 1413 is going to see if this is bona fided.
12:44pm - Gang disturbance. North and Maplewood. Gangbangers hanging out by the alley on Maplewood just off North. The car that is assigned to the job says they hang out there all the time.
12:49pm - Beat 1413 codes the 12:39pm hand waver as 19Paul.
12:59pm - Beat car 1413 gets a parker on the beat after lunch.
1:02pm - I'm going to go for a while. I'm going to enjoy the beautiful day. See you guys a later.
About 4:20pm - I'm back. There is a traffic accident at Belmont and Kimball with injures. It's being sent over to 17 since it happened on their side.
4:32pm - Gang disturbance. 2854 W Lyndale. 10 gang members are loitering. One who is named Max Garcia has on a black shirt and he's sitting on a bike. He and another gang member are known to have guns.
4:33pm - Traffic accident. 2300 W Bloomingdale. One driver refuses to give information.
4:35pm - Disturbance. 1801 N Washtenaw. Group of kids refusing to leave the premises.
4:36pm - Person wanted. 2839 N Central Park. The person who slashed the tires at this location is sitting on the steps a few doors down.
4:41pm - Beat 1414 is running the Max guy's name from the 4:32pm job.
4:46pm - Max Garcia comes back clear from 1414's stop.
4:47pm - EMS run. Wabansia and California. Male possibly having a seizure on the corner. Paramedics want police present.
4:51pm - Disturbance. 1908 W Armitage. Male Black with a tan shirt and coat is loitering. He also broke a bottle.
4:52pm - Robbery. 3334 W Armitage. Male Hispanic with a black jacket and knife just robbed a female. He fled west on Armitage.
4:54pm - Beat car 1413 needs a Spainish speaker at Fullerton and Kimball.
4:55pm - The 4:52pm job is an attempt Robbery. The offender displayed a knife and wanted money, but didn't get any.
4:59pm - Burglar report. 1816 N Campbell. No further information.
5:00pm - Person w/ a knife. 3029 W Belden. Apartment G1. The grandfather's got a knife and fighting with the son.
5:09pm - Parker. 26XX W Fullerton. No further information.
5:12pm - EMS run. 2712 W North. There is a sick man. EMS requesting the cops, as usual.
5:14pm - The 4:52pm job is not a Robbery, but an Aggravated Assault. The RD number is HR216288 with the event number of 13167.
5:16pm - Wanted for the Aggravated Assault from the 4:52pm job is a male Hispanic, 35-40 yrs of age, 5'7, 130-140 pounds, black hair with a fade, black sweater and green khaki pants. He is intoxicated. Beat 1413 thakns 1406Henry and 1441 for their assist.
5:23pm - Beat car 1405 is doing a park check at Haas and Holstein parks.
5:25pm - Criminal damage in progress. Wrightwood and Sawyer. Male is tagging the buliding.
5:28pm - Beat 1431 asks for an auto Theft mission event number on the beat. It's 13863.
5:30pm - Beat car 1441 asks if there's a complaint on the 5:25pm job.
5:31pm - 1) Beat 1414 has a traffic stop at 2425 N Calforina. 2) Holding the offender. 2656 N Elston. At Target. They're holding a male for Theft. Note: I shop at that Targe every now and then.
5:32pm- Disturbance. 1708 N Campbell. People working on cars.
5:34pm - Beat car 1422 asks for a premise check at 1753 N Drake. The event number is 13962.
5:37pm - Gang disturbance/Narcotics. Wabansia and Whipple. Four gang members causing a disturbance and selling drugs.
5:40pm - Beat 1406Henry has four on the hood from the 5:37pm job.
5:43pm - Beat car 1406H asks for a premise check at 1657 N Whipple.
5:52pm - Traffic control. Elston and Damen. A car broke down and now it's backing up traffic. Until a tow truck shows up, the caller's asking for traffic control.
5:56pm - Information for the police. 1651 N Whipple. A male Black with a multi-colored sweater retrieved drugs from the yard.
5:58pm - One of the units has a stop at Wabansia and Humboldt.
6:08pm - Parker. 2400 block of W Cortland. Premits.
6:10pm - Disturbance. 2412 N Milwaukee. Intoxicated male refusing to leave.
6:12pm - Car alarm. Nelson and California. Alarm on a red van has been going off for 3 hours now.
6:14pm - DUI driver. Diversey/Milwaukee/Kimball. Drunk driver going north on Milwaukee from Diversey and Kimball. It's a red Chevy van with a plate of 385NDB.
6:19pm - 1) The 6:14pm job is coded out 19Boy. 2) Beat 1411 codes out the 6:12pm job as 19Paul because the owner's going to try to fix the car alarm.
6:20pm - Gang disturbance. 3567 W Palmer. Gang members gathering and small children are present. 2) Disturbance. 2600 N Spaulding. Male Black on a cell phone disturbing the caller.
6:23pm - Beat car 1411 is on a traffic stop at XX24 W George.
6:26pm - Beat 1411's plate comes back clear.
6:30pm - Reckless driver. Fullerton and Western. Sliver Honda with a plate of G989407 is driving too fast.
6:34pm - Disturbance w/ a mental. 3566 W Dickens. 16 yr old son has not taken his meds.
6:39pm - Beat car 1410 needs a Spainish speaker at Milwaukee and Armitage. 1441 says they'll go. They code out their job, the 6:34pm job, as 19Paul.
6:41pm - One of the units is writing a tow on a car from 2859 N Milwaukee.
6:44pm - Beat 1412 states that the 6:41pm tow is from the 6:14pm job. They're going to take all of this into 14.
6:46pm - Beat car 1410 tells 1441 to disregard his request for a Spainish speaker. 1434 showed up.
6:50pm - Beat 1442 pulls an RD number for a Robbery that occurred at about Armitage and Sawyer. There was no call(s) about this, so I guess this was from a hand waver.
6:51pm - Disturbance. 3227 W Fullerton. Couple of kids running through the buliding.
7:02pm - Disturbance. 1758 N Albany. Kids throwing rocks at homes from the railroad tracks.
7:03pm - Holding the offender. Kedzie and Moffat. A 10 yr old is being held for throwing rocks. May be related to the 7:02pm job.
7:04pm - Beat car 1441 asks for a call back on the 6:51pm job. Dispatch replies that she'll try the number.
7:05pm - Check the well being. 2430 to 2461 W North. No further information.
7:06pm - No answer on the call back on 1441's job.
7:18pm - Beat 1441 has a traffic stop at Belmont and Drake.
7:20pm - Suspicious person. North and Maplewood. 10 male Blacks and Hispanics walking down Maplewood were looking into a window. Caller believes the males are suspicious and wants them dispersed.
7:22pm - Burglar alarm. 3428 W McLean. Garage door.
7:26pm - 1) Beat car 1441 is inquiring about a gang disturbance at Belmont and Central Park. They say they think that gang members were kicking cars and stuff. They believe it's on 17's side, but they're not sure. 2) Beat 1423 gives 1421 a wave off on the 7:20pm job.
7:28pm - Beat car 1423 codes out the 7:20pm job as 19Edward.
7:29pm - Beat 1441 codes out the Belmont and Central Park gang disturbance as 19Paul.
7:38pm - Parker. 1805 N Campbell. Black Nissan blocking driveway.
7:41pm - Alarm. 2238 N Elston. One of the motions are sounding.
7:49pm - 1) Disturbance. 2000 N Humboldt. A very drunk male Hispanic is heading south on Humboldt. He's wearing a black coat and dark pants. 2) Disturbance. Belmont and Kimball. Male Black is in the street, pandhandling in on-coming traffic.
