Disturbance On Spaulding, Fireworks On Sawyer

Good morning, everyone, it's 12am. As you all know, tomorrow is the 4th of July, which is Independence Day for our country, and we all know what that means. On the bright side, we get with our friends and/or families for cookouts and family reunions. But unfortunately, there are also bad things that happen on the 4th, which would be drunken fights, M80s, and sometimes shootings. So due to the unfortunate stuff, I'll be monitoring 25 all day tomorrow, and I won't be taking a dinner break. Instead, I plan on taking a break during the early afternoon, and I will begin blogging a bit later than usual. I'll start blogging at 9:30am. So, regarding today, I'll be monitoring 14 until 3:01pm, then I'm switching back over t0 25 for the remainder of the day. With that, here's crime for today.

12:00am - Disturbance. 16XX N Spaulding. Group of males drinking.

10:11am - Assault in progress. Unity Park. Man and woman having a heated argument. Not sure if it's a domestic or not.

10:52am - Assault. 3110 W Armitage. At Walgreens. Two females came in, threatened people and told everyone they'll be back.

11:07am - DOA. 29XX N Kedzie.

4:05pm - Loud music disturbance. 27XX N Ridgeway.

4:14pm - Assault. 38XX W George. Caller was threatened over a parking space.

4:29pm - They're calling back on the 4:05pm job. Beat car 2523, who responded the first time, is coding it yet again. Also, the 4:14pm job is coded.

5:02pm - Speed chase. Speed chase. Narraganset and Wrightwood. Tan van heading north about 40 mph, took off from Beat car 2521. Heading north.

5:03pm - East on Diversey from Narraganset.

5:04pm - 2521 lost him at Wellington and Narraganset. The car's possibly wanted for unlawful possession of a weapon. The van might be a Dodge.

5:05pm - A citizen just flagged 2521 down. The van just went north on Melvina from Belmont. Heading towards School. Zone 1 is being notified. Also, 2521 says that the van was at Rils Park when it took off. A male Hispanic, 5'7 to 5'10, 145 lbs, white t-shirt and tan shorts had a long dark object in his hand, that possibly may have been a shotgun or a pistol.

5:06pm - I'll continue to listen closely to the developments from this speed chase, but for now, back to only our area.

7:18pm - Speed chase. Speed chase. Monroe and Leamington. Heading south. It's a 2006 white Jeep Cherokee with a temp plate 834K396. This vehicle is wanted for shots fired, possibly at the CPD. There was a 10-1 called in the 11th District at Monroe and Killpatrick as a result of this. The driver allegedly lives on the 1700 block of N Kedvale. Though, the van registers to an address on the 900 block of N Laramie.

7:21pm - Oh my god ... an officer was struck. No, not shot. But this van did drag an officer down the street. The officer appears to be ok, though. All units are advised to use extreme caution. The driver is probably armed, and this car can go very fast.

7:22pm - The van was just called into 911 by a citizen. It was last seen heading south on Central from Congress, possibly heading for the Eisenhower Expressway. It was going at a high rate of speed.

7:25pm - The 15th District has a unit going to Loretto Hospital to check for any gunshot victims from the Monroe and Killpatrick incident.

7:26pm - Beat car 2523 is on the 1700 block of N Kedvale now, looking for the offender. Meanwhile, they're getting some jobs.

7:28pm - Alright, I'll closely monitor this situation, but I'm going to switch back to only our area for now.

8:06pm - There's an EMS run on Pulaski, a call on Lawndale and a call on Harding. Dispatcher was too fast for me.

8:39pm - Shots Fired. 18XX N Harding.

8:40pm - Person Shot. 30XX N Avers. Man shot.

8:41pm - Multiple tickets of a "person w/ a gun" are coming in on the 3000 block of N Avers. Two men with guns are on the block and just shot someone.

8:42 through 8:50pm - CPD didn't find anyone shot, but there was chatter about the calls. They're looking for two men, one with long black hair. They may have fled in a Ford Mustang east on Wellington towards Hamlin from the scene. Currently, CPD is investigating and is talking to some witnesses.

9:07pm - Fireworks. 2400 block of N Lowell.

9:30pm - Battery. Milwaukee and Central Park.

With the price of fireworks why not just shoot off your shotgun in the air? Both are illegal in the city, but the cops don't enforce it...

Ah, yes another 4th of July is near. When did all the fireworks nonsense get started? It's really out of hand nowadays. Why is it folks who don't have ten cents to rub together seem to go all out on those explosive devices? The next day you'll find paper crap, rocket sticks everywhere.

Maybe Raum Emanuel shouldn't have cancelled the fireworks spots at the lake? Not everyone had a chance this year to go see them at Navy Pier because it's was going to be packed. So what do you think people are going to do? They're going to get their own fireworks and blow them in their neighborhoods. It's summer time and people simply just want to have fun and amuse an audience of people on the 4th of July. So what if theirs sticks and papers on the ground. Street cleaners will do the jobs and just pick a broom and dust pan and clean it up. People complain for the stupidest stuff. Hello it's summer time and everyone should expect what's going to happen when the 4th of July comes! There was sticks and papers flying in to our yard from 3 different neighbors houses and not once did we complain or get pissed about it! People stop complaining about petty stuff like that! As for the Gypsies, I had a experience with them and DO NOT trust them! Bunch of free loading scammers! Why the heck do those people think they have to act like that!? At, least their stereotype matches! They are rude as hell..

I just don't understand why people are spending huge amounts of money on illegal fireworks.

Yes - many of them do the Gypsy Scams. The honking and the screaming from 10pm to 2am is not normal behavior. Unloading items and things in the dark at 2am is suspicious. Temp tags on the vehicles year round is illegal. People on the block need to keep note and watch. Thanks and keep watch!

Peter, we are experiencing exactly what you have described! Temp tags on the truck and tickets practically every day but no boot! Screaming, yelling and double parked at all hours but especially between 10pm and 2am. Speeding down the street while children are playing and backing into the neighbors cars when parking! One neighbor caught them hit his wife's car and of course, no license and no insurance. They have two Min Pin Dogs that run around and nip at people's feet because of course they are not on a leash. I could go on and on and on! It is non stop ! By the way, has anyone see an older model, two tone brown pick up truck that looks like they might be junking or scrapping? Vehicle involved in burglaries in the neighborhood! Keep an eye out!
