More shots fired in Avondale last night

This is one post I can confirm. At about 9:48pm last night, my mom woke me up to tell me she heard 4 to 5 shots fired on the street. Of course, I was half asleep, so I didn't really know what was going on and I kind of thought it was a prank until I heard more calls of shots fired in the boundries of Diversey-Springfield-Central Park-Barry. I heard lots of sirens not even a minute later. I had to go back to sleep, though, so I could get rest for today.

Does anybody else know what went down last night at about 9:50 in the neighborhood? I don't. Well, whatever happened, I'm betting it was gang related.

If anybody has any comments to share regarding these shots fired, please feel free to send them. You can email me personally as well. My email is on my profile.

UPDATE: A commenter says that they sounded like they were coming from Wolfram.

I heard the shots as well and was hoping you had heard what was going on. It my angle as though they came from Wolfram Street.

I didn't hear the shots, but my mom woke me up to let me know. She said they sounded like they were coming from Hamlin, though I wouldn't doubt at all that they were shooting on Wolfram. I know a girl who lives at Central Park and Wolfram who likes to cause problems. There's also gangbangers living at the house at about 2830 N Lawndale.

Central Pk. and Barry is all Latin Kings and this year the activity has picked up. There's been an increase in graffiti and they are deep, on that corner. Problem is that it's the border of 14, 25 and 17 th Districts and in comparison to other areas, it's not as busy. People need to start attending the Beat meeting because the East side of Central PK is the 14th District and the West side is the 25th District and then the other side of Belmont is 17......see the problem?
Also an increase in activity on the 2900 blk of Ridgeway and Police brass, Dugan was walking the streets just a few weeks ago because of the increase in activity.
Keep the phone calls coming to your aldermen and 911........Don't let up...

First off, Concerned Citizen, I'd like to thank you for your comment. Shots fired should get alot of people commenting because it's a serious issue. Second, yeah, I agree with you that the activity at Central Park and Barry has picked up.

The graffiti issue has really pissed me off. They've been tagging the bar at Diversey and Ridgeway for about 4 months now and the bar owner hasn't done anything about it. He needs to call it in and have it removed. Recently, they've gotten houses on my block and just three days ago, I discovered graffiti on our mail box in front of the house.

I also agree with you about the border. It doesn't help and I do see the problem. That's why I think Avondale should be made into one police district. On the radios, I would have two neighborhoods (Avondale and Logan Square for example) on one radio frequency.

I've also noticed an increased police presence on the 2900 block of N Ridgeway, especially on the north end (towards Milwaukee).

One thing I do disagree (respectfully) with is, however, calling the aldermen. Alderman Reboyras (or however his name is spelled) seems to be a mute. I've never heard him speak on the media before. I've also sent him an email in December in which a POLICE SUPERVISOR replied. Come on now, aldermen. It's not up to that supervisor to reply to me. YOU, aldermen, should be repling to me.

I will keep on calling 911, however, for any incidents.

RE:garding the graffiti issue. Just an FYI tip for EVERYONE. You can call graffiti into 311-- regardless of who owns the property. You can call every day about the same address until it gets removed. You just need to have the exact address before you call.
Hope this helps everyone.
