Serious Accident On Diversey/Green Dolphin Club To Be Investigated

Good morning, everyone. According to Chicago News Report, a serious accident occurred in the area of the 3300 block of W Diversey at about 2:48am this morning. An exact location is not known, but officers were blocking traffic at Diversey/Spaulding and Diversey/Milwaukee/Kimball, so there is a guess that the accident happened in the intersection of Diversey and Christina. This accident is serious because, reportedly, a woman was thrown through a windshield of a van, but somehow managed to take off. According to witnesses, before fleeing the scene, she allegedly told them the vehicle was stolen. Officers ran the license plate and said the Chevy van belongs to an owner on the 2500 block of W Moffat Street.

Anyone have insight on this accident?

Also news today in our community, also a report from Chicago News Report, is that the Green Dolphin Street Club located at 2220 N Ashland will undergo an "investigation", so to speak, by Alderman Scott Waguespack (32nd). Why is this happening? Because of several shootings and stabbings that have occurred at this club in the last few months. The latest incident happened just this Monday with a woman in her 20s getting shot in the back in front of the club. There were two previous incidents there, in 2010, on September 6th and November 14th. In the September 6th incident, a man was shot and several people were injured. In the November 14th incident, a man was stabbed with a broken beer bottle by two other men. So, being the caring and reporting person he is, Timothy Fitz of Chicago News Report reached out to Alderman Waguespack. He did get a response. Elizabeth Gomez, an employee of the Ward 32 office, responded to Fitz's e-mail and said that Waguespack was working with CPD, the Liquor Control Commission, and the Department of Buildings to address the problems with the club. In conclusion to this report, Fitz and Waguespack will have a conversation about this club, and I'm hoping there are results from it. I'll be watching Chicago News Report for updates.

Anyone have thoughts/opinions to this? Send your comments here, the Facebook page OR my e-mail. But keep it clean. That is of the utmost importance, and I will NOT accept any comments that I suspect to be irrelevant or plain stupid.

It's a bummer about Green Dolphin Street. When I was younger, that was where my friends and I would go to dress up, drink fancy drinks, check out jazz, and take girls salsa dancing.

Sounds like it was a nice club back in the day, so then I'd have to agree it's a shame.

I guess GD cancelled jazz and closed their restaurant, and became a flat-out nightclub. Unfortunately, clubs tend to have fighting, and drunk people and crazy parking problems. I can see why the alderman is taking a closer look.

Isn't that a transgender club?
