Good afternoon, everyone, it's 3:26pm. I don't even want to talk about school, because all hell broke loose today. I'm not even going to say what happened, but I'll say that it should've never happened and that the person (an adult) involved suffers disciplinary action. So, anyway, I have to stay after school tomorrow for a Student Government meeting, my first meeting of 2011. I won't be home until around 5, then I'll take a nap until dinner, then I'll come back here. So, here's crime for this afternoon and evening.
4:33pm - Assist the city. 4034 W Palmer. Someone from the city needs help evicting some people from an apartment.
6:33pm - I have to go eat. I'll be back soon.
6:46pm - I'm back.
6:53pm - Burglary in progress. 2309 N Ridgeway. Someone's in the caller's apartment.
6:58pm - Burglar alarm. 2010 N Central Park. At Funston school. Assembly hall stairs motion.
7:10pm - Battery in progress. 4343 W Wrightwood. At Kelvyn Park High School. Two basketball players fighting.
7:12pm - Another call just came in from Kelvyn Park. There's a fight breaking out between two basketball teams, in the school gym.
8:26pm - Beat 2546 has five gunshots being fired at Wrightwood and Avers. They're checking it out.
8:27pm - White van involved. It's heading towards Koz Park.
8:28pm - Multiple 911 calls coming in for "Shots Fired". Schubert and Monticello, the 2600 block of N. Hamlin, the 2700 block of N. Ridgeway.
8:31pm - The victim's saying the shooting occurred at Lawndale and Schubert. 2546 is going over to check for a crime scene.
8:32pm - Officers are asking dispatch to notify 14, 16 and 17 about this incident. I think there was some more chatter about the incident.
8:33 to 8:35pm - I stepped out of the room to make a phone call regarding the whole incident.
8:36pm - The shooting's going to be gang related. The victim is an Orchestra Albany gang member.
8:38pm - 2550 had a light brown Toyota take off from him at Diversey and Hamlin, going south on Hamlin.
8:48pm - Dispatch is assigning 2552 to help 2546 canvas the area and look for shell casings. And, regarding the shooting, no one is shot, but the victim's car windows were shot out. An Evidence Tech will be ordered.
8:54pm - Just got a call from a neighbor who says there's cops all over on the 2700 block of N Ridgeway.
8:56pm - Police Helicopter #2 wants an event number for 1700 N Harding. They're just flying over. Event number is 14605.
8:57pm - Beat car 2523 thought they had the Toyota that took off on 2550 in the alley behind 3031 N Milwaukee, but it's not the car.
9:01pm - I have to go. I'll be back tomorrow evening. Good night, everyone.

Did you hear they got more cops in 025. Yet why is it they down all their late rapid (6pm) cars down on directed missions instead of helping our area with crime problems? Most of these cars just drive around not even stopping for hand wavers.
Maybe the CAPS office can do something of this? But probably not. Years back they had a Sgt. Whiteside who ran those 6pm cars and he wouldn't let them help our area at all.
Oh, and by the way the sheriff does evictions, not the cops. But folks don't want to pay for that service.

I just did a story on Scooby, everyone. Even though I've never met Scooby before, he's a great dog.
Luke, those missions are supposed to help specific areas with crime problems. And, 2546 was a mission in our area when this shooting occurred, and they stopped doing the mission to go check it out. Oh, and about the eviction, I'm aware the sheriff does it, but I just copied down what I heard, and CPD was called to do this one.
