More gunfire in Logan Square. Not uncommon these days. It's almost a daliy thing. Anyway, a man was shot in the neck on the 2500 block of W Cortland at 3:15am yesterday morning, according to this article. The man was in the back of his friend's car, with three other people, when two guys came up to the car. The two groups got into it, some thug pulled out a gun and beginned to shoot at the vehicle. The man in the back seat was shot in the neck and was seriously injuried. His friend, the driver, drove him to St. Mary's. The vitcim was then transfered to Stroger.
Like I've been saying, we're gun happy in this neighborhood, and we're in for a real long summer.

Isn't Cortland South of Armitage, and therefore, part of Humbolt Park? Anyway...I'm not surprised by this type of crime happenning there. That part of Cortland is predominantly Section 8 housing. I hate to say it, but poverty seems to breed the problems we are attempting to combat. So many of these kids are unsupervised by parents that are working to provide a better life for their kids- which is part of the problem. Ironically, those kids are having kids of their own, but passing hatred, criminal mentality, and a warped sense of reality to their own kids.
No, Cortland's in Logan Square (at least from the city maps I follow and what I've been told by officals). Anywhere south of Bloomingdale is supposed to be Humboldt Park. But I do cover a bit of Humboldt Park (up to North Ave.).
I'm not surprised either. I have been saying the same thing for a while now regarding the section 8 housing over there. Unfortunaley, poverty is a issue here (but I think maybe even the good people who live in it think the same way).
For the kids part, I agree 100%. I see it played out at my school everyday, and it's really unfortunate.
I heard gunshots last night near Belmont/Milwaukee (Friday night around 3am...this seems to far away to be the same thing.) Any tips?
Natalie, yeah, it's too far away to be the same thing. And, it wouldn't be the same thing because this incident happened on the 28th of May.
