New Police Commander In 25th District

There is a new Police Commander in the 25th District. I went to the 25th District page to look at the latest crime in the area yesterday morning, and on the front page I saw something which stood out. Robert Lopez was no longer the Commander. Now, a man by the name of Richard Batrich is the acting Commander (which means he's not offical yet, or that they're trying to find someone else). Why would I bring this up, you ask? Well, this is news. This is eventful for those of us who live in the 25th District.

There is not an offical reason for Lopez being gone. But, according to this article, he suddenly retired due to the fact he was possibly demoted from Commander to lieutenant (2590/2599 on the radio) because there is a serious crime problem which needs to be addressed, and he didn't give Sup. Jody Weis an answer why there's the problem.

All I have to say is this: Welcome, Mr. Batrich. I wish you good luck, and I hope you can do a much better job at addressing crime than Mr. Lopez did (he didn't address it good, in my opinion).

UPDATE, 3/6/10: A man by the name of Carlos Velez is now the offical Commander of the 25th District, according to the CAPS website.

The 14th District also has a new commander. Her name is Linda Flores. What's up with all of these new commanders lately?

Anonymous, since you seem to know about Velez (no scarcasm intended here), can you tell me a little bit about him? Like, what was his job before Commander?

I wish good luck to Velez, too.
