Important Announcement -- PLEASE READ

Hi, everyone. I have some very, very awful news for all of you. And I'm being forced to make this decision immediately. As of now, August 14, 2011 at 5:46pm, the blog will have to stop. My family no longer has money to pay any of our bills (because of cuts in the government), and we are most likely going to move to another state. I am so sorry, everyone. I really wish there was a way I could continue the blog. I will also have to end my involvement in the community.

I will come back if and when our situation improves, but until then, I have to end the blog. If we do end up moving, I probably will most likely not be back with this blog. I would just like to thank everyone for ALL of the support over the last two and a half years, all the great things some of you have done for me, and just everything. You don't know much I appreicate all of the support. You guys will forever be in my heart. So on that note, I am going to tell all of you to please, please, please, please keep up the good fight for the community, and I hope to be back soon. Love to all, and God Bless.

Sincerely,
Timmy

P.S. I've decided to reveal exactly what was cut from me. Because of my autism, I was getting Social Security benefits. But they were cut, because apparently I'm no longer disabled to them.

Oh man, I am really sorry to be seeing you go. Best to you and your family, and whatever community winds up being your new home is going to be the richer for it.

WOW Timmy I know we are all so sorry to hear about this, not just the blog Timmy, but about your family's hardships. If you or your family need help please let us all know. Love, Erica @ Wrightwood & Monticello

As a longtime reader, I'm really saddened to hear about your situation. Your long hours of hard work have been extremely valuable to the community, and we can't thank you enough. Good luck with what comes next.

If I have read correctly, Timmy is 18 and has Autism. It is remarkable - his maturity - and willingness to engage in all types of public, emotionally charged, and community based endeavors. For an 18 year old and for someone actively dealing with something like Autism. Any grown people giving him grief here should really check themselves and take a good look at where the real frustration is coming from. I wish you luck and admire your will, Timmy.

Timmy - your blog has been so moving and valuable to me since I moved into this neighborhood (Diversey & Pulaski) four years ago. I have total confidence that you will be successful wherever you go next. Keep on keeping on! Thank you Timmy!

Andrew, thank you for your wishes. It was a pleasure doing this work, and it is admittedly a bit emotional for me to let go of.

Erica, thank you. I appreicate it. I am saddened to be leaving as well.

Anonymous 8:39, thank you. I appreicate all of you reading my blog over the last two and a half years. This blog has opened doors for me I thought I would never see opened.

Dr P., thank you. Though this was the wrong post for your comment (you meant the last post, to those three people who don't like this blog), I really appreicate your defense towards me. Yes, I am 18 and I am autistic. It's a shame those people didn't see me for who I really was, but that's all right. This blog is a thing of my past, at least temporary. I hope that if I come back, they will realize they valued my reporting and miss it.

Anonymous 9:35, thank YOU for reading and thank you for your support. I truly appreicate it. I am hopeful I will have as much impact as I did here in my next community/neighborhood.

Anonymous 9:41, thank you. I will miss all of you as my readers and fellow community members. And thank you for the prayers, we need them.

I think things will turn around for you. It seems that good people will receive something good in return. Hang in there. With the possiblity of you being gone can I ask what I could get to hear 14. I have apps on my phone but 14 has been blocked for a long time. Sorry to ask again since I know you have answered this in the past. Thank you for your hard work.

it's a shame that our government decides who receives benefits and this is truly a tragic event.

with that being said, it just shows all of us a wake up call that something needs to definitely change because it seems that the people who truly need the financial help are the ones who are losing it.

as an old resident of logan square, I always enjoyed reading your blogs because it gave me updates about my old neighborhood and albeit that a lot of the news was pretty disappointing, I was still glad to read information through here and your posts on facebook.

I wish you and your family luck wherever you relocate to, if you do end up relocating. don't ever give up hope, I will be praying for you all.

Tim, I've been delighted to be a contributor to your blog, and it is because of you that we now have an active, viable community block club in my area. My heart will be with you wherever you land, and I hope we will never lose track of each other.

If any of you readers have been reading this blog, and would like to get your community organized, please contact your district police agency and ask how you, too, can start a block club, or you may drop me a line at ravinmavenpost@gmail.com and I'll be happy to steer you in the right direction. The community awareness that Tim has brought here means most when it is translated into action ~ let's get started! ~ProdigalOne

Timmy... Thanks for your involvement with the community. Your effort is not in vain. Please have your Mom appeal your case with SS office.

Anonymous 10:43, that's what we're hoping for. We really are. I'll try my very hardest to keep hanging on to hope. To answer your question in regards to 14, unfortunately, RadioReference took it offline sometime ago, because of a lot of issues with the feed. I don't know of anywhere else that could provide the feed. But I do hope that if I'm gone for a long time, that someone will come along and will take over the day-to-day functions of this blog. Thank you for being a reader, and take care.

fluxifyme, that's exactly the same thing my family and I were talking about last night. People who don't deserve the benefits are thriving from it, and half of those people don't have anything mental and physically wrong with them. And someone like me with a brain condition gets cut from it. It's bad enough we were struggling before to pay the bills, but now we can't pay them at all. So we're going to move in with some other family members out in Kentucky. I agree that there definitely needs to be a wake up call with this whole system. Thank you for being a reader, despite the disappointing news I've had to offer about the area a lot of times. Thank you for wishing us luck, also. We're really trying to hold on to the last bit of hope we have. It's going to be hard, but I think we may pull through it sooner or later. Take care and thank you for reading again.

Anonymous 2:06, thank you for being a reader. I appreicate it. And, it was no problem working with the community. It felt great to be making a change. Now I just hope that someone will come along and will continue the efforts I've done. Best wishes to you also, and take care.

Undergrounded, I'm sad to be departing, too. I really enjoyed providing this coverage for everyone, and I appreicate all of the readers I've had, including you. About your offer, I would take it up if I knew we weren't moving soon, but I'm pretty sure we'll be gone from Chicago in a matter of weeks. Mom excepts us to be somewhere else by mid September. You better believe we're appealing. We absolutely need our benefits, and it isn't right that they did this. I offer my best wishes to you as well, and take care. Once again, thank you for being a reader.

Oh, ProdigalOne, how I'm going to miss you! I can't thank you enough for all of your help you've provided me over the last year or so. Words cannot express my gratitude I have for you. And I feel so happy that you guys are such active neighbors. I'm really glad to see some of my work I've done here actually impact the community. I will never forget about you guys and will keep in touch often. If we do come back to Chicago, you will be one of the first people I tell. And, yes, to all of you, what she said about the block clubs is true. Please do contact either her or your local district to help get organized. They could help you.

Anonymous 8:46, thank you and no problem. Thank you for being a faithful reader. I appreicate it. Best wishes to you also, and I hope that I do return sooner or later. If I don't, I hope someone will step up to fill my shoes.

Anonymous 10:16, no problem and thank you. I appreicate knowing that my effort was not in vain. My mother is appealing as I type this. Thank you for your prayer. We need all of the prayers we can get. Take care.

Timmy, on behalf of Shortwave America and partner PCJ Media / PCJ Radio, and Media Network Plus...YOU are a treasure to your local community and more than that, you are a shining example of the proper use of radio communications resources for news reporting. All of us named above know how heavily you contribute to your city, to its quality of life, and encourage you to forge forward to achieve all you were meant to achieve.

It would be great to see you keep up your work here, but if not, you can have something to show for it. Your approach to all of the problem solving concerns is an inspiration. Most people would have started letting emotion get the best of them. Keep making all of us proud!
