Explosion In 16 On Neva
Good evening, everyone, it's 12am. I'm monitoring 17 for all of you citizens out there North of Belmont. To be honest, I'm kind of reluctant to do it now, because of a few residents from Beat 1733 who made it their business to report me to their CAPS leaders, but whatever. I know there's other people in 17 who wouldn't do that to me. But I'm still standing by my word that I will no longer make posts about CAPS meetings. That's a done deal. Anyway, I'm staying up until about 5am or 6am to monitor, then I'll awake sometime in the afternoon to do 25. Also, tomorrow, I have a party I'm attending, from 1pm to 10pm. It's for a friend that I have to say goodbye to, since they're heading off to college. So, here's crime for today.

2:05pm - Ok, folks. I'm almost ready to get the 911 Seminar up and running, BUT, I do need some feedback from you guys. I need to know two things. One, what days and times are you available, and two, does anyone have any questions they'd like to ask at the event? If all of you want this Seminar, you will have to get back to me on these two questions. Please contact me by email. Thanks!

Just wanted to send some positive energy your way. I definitely appreciate reading your blog every day-- trying to stay up on crime in the neighborhood. I'm sorry you've got folks that are unleashing their negativity on you-- so just wanted to send some positive thoughts and encouragement your way!
Can you talk about this at your next community meeting? They say that up to 10% of Chicago cops are corrupt. So that is about 1,000-1,100 cops in the city. Also, the gangs & certain communities have a "no snitch" policy but don't the police have the same policy for themselves?
Thank you, Tallis :). I appreicate your positive energy. Please know that readers like you are the reason I keep going with this blog, no matter how much I want to give up at times.
Anonymous 10:10, you mean about the cops being corrupt, or something else? If about the cops, I'm sorry, but no. I do not want to bring anymore negative light to the meetings I go to than there already are. Most of the attendees already know we have corrupt cops. But, you and everyone else needs to realize that the corrupt cops are definitely a minority. And, as a wise Sergeant once told me, they do NOT reflect the department. It's a shame that a few bad apples have to ruin the whole department's image. I've meant corrupt cops in my time doing this blog, but I have met more cops who want to do the right things and protect/serve the community than corrupt ones. And I hope you will notice sooner or later that the working cops do NOT like their corrupt co-workers.
...the Diversey/Avers incident involved a known gang member who was circling on his bike in Koz Park...he has been targeted and shot at before, so the police came and either took him away or encouraged him to leave (not sure).
Why are these police transporting "mentals". This is a job for the ambulance and fire department. If the mentals get violent the ambulance people can shoot them with a heavy sedative to knock them out. These types of calls are wasting my tax dollars. Also, they need to stop the loud music calls. That is a issue with landlords.
Thank you for that info, Dawn. I'm sure they just asked him to leave the area, though.
Anonymous 12:04, probably because the police don't charge for the ride. I don't know for sure. And about the loud music calls, CPD Superintendent McCarthy has already said once he revamps the system, CPD won't be responding to those type of calls anymore.
...the guy in the park Friday was the same one who has been shot at twice (and hit once) on Avers this summer...he used to live at George & Avers...and his mom lives on the 3000 block...he seems to be hanging around again...saw him today at the park with his kids...uneventful... nice guy at times...but gang involved...and a target...so no go when it comes to the kids' safety...
