Burglary To Vacant Building On Avers

Good morning, everyone, it's 9:45am. It's real cloudy this morning, with temps in the 70s. It's supposed to storm today. Strong ones possible, too. I just hope they aren't all that bad. Anyway, it was a restless night in the neighborhood. I didn't go to bed until 3 due to gang-related problems on my block. And from what I heard on the scanner, it was busy in the area. Well, I have nothing else to say, so here's crime for today.

10:37am - Burglary in progress. 2430 N Avers. Male Hispanic, heavy set just broke the glass of the door to the vacant building and just entered.

10:43am - EMS run. Belden and Keystone. Male in his 30s down on the southeast corner. Not sure what happened.

12:41pm - Parker. 25XX N Ridgeway.

12:48pm - Threatening suicide. 24XX N Springfield. Female is trying to kill herself by taking an overdose of pills.

1:18pm - A 25th District unit has a stop on the 2800 block of N Springfield.

1:57pm - Disturbance w/ a mental. 23XX N Monticello. Male sitting on the porch, talking to himself.

2:00 to 2:20pm - There may have been a call or two in the area, but things were loud over here, so I couldn't really hear the radio. Sorry.

3:21pm - Disturbance. 31XX N Hamlin. Problem with the drunken neighbor.

3:25pm - Suspicious person. 19XX N Hamlin. Male lurking around the house.

3:53pm - Loud music disturbance. 30XX N Monticello.

4:01pm - A unit is doing a premise check at Koz Park. Event number is 12880.

4:30pm - Narcotics. 3701 W Diversey. Male Hispanic, gray t-shirt, blue jeans and sunglasses is doing hand-to-hand transactions to cars pulling up on Lawndale.

4:34pm - Criminal trespass. 1650 N Central Park. Male keeps going into the foreclosed home and is using the alley as a bathroom.

4:41pm - Reckless driver. Armitage and Pulaski. Person driving a red truck with a trailer attached to the back of it. Trailer has four small children in it. Caller is afraid someone's going to get hurt. Heading towards Dickens on Pulaski.

5:04pm - Some call in the area.

5:17pm - The 3:53pm job is calling back.

5:36pm - Beat car 2525 has a street stop on the Kedvale side of the Nixon school.

5:58pm - 1) Assault in progress. Wellington and Avers. 2) They're calling again on Monticello.

6:29pm - Battery in progress. 24XX N Lawndale. Male beating on female.

6:57PM - 025 simulcast and units on citywide 26XX N. Kostner gets them a kidnapping in progress when the mother of the teenage female victim is notified that her missing daughter who was previously reported missing in this case is being forced into the stated address. Mother says she is enroute to scene. Thanks to Wandering Wind for obtaining this call for me.

7:15pm - Beat 2573 needs an ambulance at the St. Hyacinth's Carnival, Lawndale and Wolfram. Male in his 50s is having chest pains.

7:17pm - Loud music disturbance. 2300 block of N Kedvale.

7:37pm - Disturbance. Fullerton and Kostner. Block party.

7:42pm - The 7:37pm job is coded. There's no block party going on in that area.

8:05pm - Gang disturbance. Diversey and Lawndale.

8:09pm - Gang disturbance. 31XX N Monticello.

8:16pm - Beat car 2523 needs another car at the 8:09pm job. It's no emergency though. 2521 is going over.

8:25pm - Suspicious person. 1900 block of N Hamlin. Male Black with a black shirt and jeans and a male Hispanic with long hair keep walking up and down Hamlin. A burglary happened recently so the caller's concerned.

8:45pm - Assault in progress. Fullerton and Central Park. Male Hispanic, white baseball cap, white shirt and blue jeans is shouting threats at passerby. Headed east into 14, towards Drake.

8:53pm - 1) Sex offense. 23XX N Kedvale. Man exposing himself in the alley. 2) They're calling again on that Lawndale and Diversey gang disturbance. Oh boy, this is gonna be a LONG night over here...

9:12pm - 1) Barking dog. 26XX N Hamlin. 2) Suspicious person. 41XX W Barry. Male keeps throwing rocks at the caller's windows.

9:34pm - And again, ANOTHER gang disturbance at Diversey and Lawndale. Seven to 10 males standing on the corner, loitering and what not. They're supposed to be by the carnival. That's it, I'm kicking into special coverage of the carnival for the rest of the evening, until midnight. Too much nonsense going on over there. My monitoring will be in this color. My boundaries for the coverage will be Ridgeway to the west, Schubert to the south, Central Park to the east, and Milwaukee to the north. If anything else happens over there tonight, I'll be covering the carnival in its entirety. Carnival runs from 2pm to 11pm tomorrow.

10:18pm - Hold the phone on the St. Hyacinth's Carnival coverage. Getting a couple of reports of "Shots Fired" on the 3100 block of N Lawndale. Seven shots fired.

10:19pm - Person Shot. Belmont and Lawndale. Male shot.

10:20pm - Getting a description on the Shots Fired incident. Four male Hispanics, two with black shirts and two with white shirts, were involved. They're Latin King gang members and were shouting "King Love!".

10:25pm - Someone's definitely shot at Belmont and Lawndale. Person is on 17's side. Some officers from 25 are helping 17 to locate a possible second victim and a crime scene.

10:28pm - Supposedly, shots were fired from a brick house near the intersection of Monticello and Belmont.

10:34pm - A unit is looking for some witnesses from the shooting. Meanwhile, someone said there were four shots fired.

10:39pm - 17th District officers are saying something about 3626 W Belmont.

10:40pm - Information for the CPD. Belmont and Milwaukee. Man with a child just ran into the restaurant. Might have something to do with the shooting.

10:46pm - Not hearing anything else on the shooting, so I'm back to just covering the St. Hyacinth's event.

11:00pm - The carnival is letting out now. Will be listening for anything from there.

11:30pm - So far, so good. Not hearing anything.

12:00am - I'm gone for the night. I'll see you all in the morning. Due to the incidents that were occurring tonight at St. Hyacinth's, I'll be covering it from 9:30pm to midnight, but if anything major happens there before then, I'll start immediately. Have a good night, everyone.

Large gang hangout house at 2821 on Avers. They party inside all the time. It's funny, they just lock the door on the inside to keep the cops out.

Timmy, are people still bullying you about your publication here? If so, please let us know and we will be more than happy to show up at some beat meetings to stand up for you!!

If they wanna scream and yell at you, they can get the same treatment from other community members who will not let you deal with it alone! It really takes a truly insecure, immature bunch of people to treat you the way they have been. You're doing great, Timmy!

Omg if people keep bring the same issue up , it's never going to stop ! Change the subject please!!!! Time for neighborhood and community talk . Talking about the same issue will lead to instigating and more non-sense from commentors. Everybody who comments are entitled to their opinion and noone should be getting bullied not Timmy or commentors. Whatever happened to people rights of freedom to speak? It doesn't look this way on this blog.it looks like people just want to pick at eachother and only a onesided mind on here! Everyone needs to relax and listen to one another, not eat eachother up for their opinions ! The community is not going to get better if people are nitpicking at stuff that's not pertaining to the community.

Undergrounded, I could've sworn I did. I recall replying to you saying I wasn't sure if I could take the offer. If I didn't, I apologize. But nevertheless, send a line to me about the information you want to provide me about the job. My email address is weatherboy58@hotmail.com.

I'll have my reply to the rest of your post and everyone else's in a second...

Anonymous 3:50, thank you for your defense, and compliment. I appreicate it. I'm currently not getting bullied at this time. You're right, it does take someone truly immature to treat me the way they have been, even though I've been trying for the last two and a half years of helping the community. I just hope they realize sooner or later that I am only doing this for the good of the community. However, as Undergrounded has said, I think that coming to the CAPS meetings in a group just to defend me will make it hostile and then we'll all probably end up getting banned from coming. I appreicate your effort, but it might hurt the community more than help.

Anonymous 5:42, I have to agree with you here. We should all stop bringing up this subject and please move on. It was nearly two weeks ago when this happened, and I'm over it for the most part. As I have said, I just won't be returning to that particular CAPS meeting unless I get a number of requests from people. And, you are right that we need to have some neighborhood and community talk here. Don't know if the rest of you see what's happening around the area just east of Koz Park, but the way things are getting, we're in a world of trouble here.

Undergrounded, thank you for your thoughtful opinion on this post. I agree with you wholeheartedly, that people coming to defend me at meetings will do nothing but make this issue get bigger, and then the CAPS people will have all the more reason to ban me from their meetings (certainly not sure if they're trying to get me to not attend their meetings, but who knows). I am quite fond of going to the different meetings in the community, and if I were not allowed to come anymore, I would honestly be a bit upset because I wouldn't be able to communicate with supporters and fellow community members. Thank you for writing to Commander Flores about the service I provide and your recommendation for 14 to commend me. Did you get a response from them? I agree that young people these days really get a lot of negativity. Some deserve it, but most don't, and it isn't right that those who make a one-time mistake get that kind of attention. You are absolutely right about what you said regarding my reaction. I was hurt and felt betrayed initially, but I've just trying to go on with my life. No use of letting that drag me down.
