Anyway, I have a reader who was harassed last night at Belmont and Central Park by 10 to 15 gangbangers. Not good. I'll be watching that intersection closely today, since there was about three or four calls over there last night. So, here's crime for today.
9:01am - Traffic accident. Pulaski and Palmer. Spanish speaker required.
9:49am - Violation order of protection. 3750 W Armitage. Boyfriend's violating the order.
9:51am - Calling all units. Calling all units. 10-1 situation at the 9:49am job. All available units are asked to go.
9:52am - There's a runner on this job. He's running east on Armitage.
9:53am - Beat 2544 is yelling that it's not a 10-1 situation. A slow down is being given.
9:54am - The offender's in the back of 3708 W Armitage.
9:57am - The offender is a male Hispanic with long black hair.
10:44am - Disturbance. 1627 N Pulaski. At Walgreens. Panhandler.
10:57am - Auto Theft. 4100 W Fullerton. At U-Haul. A trailer was just taken.
11:02am - EMS run. Avers and Wellington. 33 yr old female having a seizure.
11:05am - The 11:02am job is bona fide. Engine 91 and Ambulance 32 are on the way.
11:10am - Reckless driver. 2415 N Harding. A car with a plate of A1782234 jumped the curve and is now parked in a city parking lot.
11:44am - An RD number has been pulled from the 10:57am job. It's HS133550 with the event number of 06348. Also, another trailer was stolen on Tuesday but they didn't bother calling it in.
12:08pm - Person w/ a knife. 3952 W Wabansia. 17 yr old sister has a knife.
12:34pm - They're calling back on the 12:08pm job. Now the niece is tearing up the place.
1:20pm - Vicious animal. 4326 W Schubert. Large dog running down the block.
2:28pm - Beat 2563Boy gets some sellings on the 20 sector.
2:35 to about 3:40pm - I haven't been paying attention. Sorry. I was waiting for my mom and sister outside of my house to come in with some groceries, and what happens? Well, some guy who I assume is a drug dealer, comes up to me and asks me "what the fuck you lookin' at!?!", "why you lookin' at me like you gonna do something!?", "get the fuck out of here!" and stuff like that. I explained to him I was just waiting for my mom and sister, and he keeps telling me to get out of here. I ran back into my house. I told my mom about it when she came in two minutes later. At about 3:25, we called 911 to report this. The operator forwarded us to a call back officer to do a report over the phone. We explained to that operator what happened and she said there legally wasn't anything to do a report on. So then, unhappy with that response, I call the 25th District station and ask Officer Morales on the desk to please send a cop over. She's like "you have to call 911" and I told her I did but they wouldn't send out anybody. Her response was "it must not be an emergency then!" and I said I was threatened. She told me to call 311. What good will that do? Half the time, 311 doesn't even pick up the phone! So what do I do? I called 911 and the police station and they wouldn't do anything for me. So now I'm really pissed off at both the Chicago Police Department and OEMC. Screw them, as far as I'm concerned. Why can't I ever get a cop when I need them!?!! But all of these stupid ass domestic disturbances make it through, and here I was threatened! This guy came real close to me. But now I have a question for all of you: should I go down to the police station and demand to get a report and to speak to a supervisor or the Watch Commander? Or should I just let this go? I'm scared and I'm afraid this guy may come back to kick my ass. If this happens, I'm fighting back. Why call the police? They don't do anything!

6:16pm - Gang disturbance. Belmont and Lawndale. 15 of them out there in the alley. They're drinking, smoking and harassing people. Dispatch says 17 received a "Battery in progress" call there earlier so caution is advised.
6:20pm - Someone's moving around in the 6:15pm business, according to the alarm company.
6:24pm - A key holder just arrived on scene on the 6:15pm job.
6:28pm - Uh oh. Beat car 2534 has a foot chase from the 6:15pm job. Male Hispanic, brown jacket with a hoodie is running out of the business and is heading towards the railroad tracks.
6:29pm - The guy's running on the tracks. Sounds crazy.
6:31pm - The key holder and his son jumped over a gate to continue to chase the offender.
6:32pm - The key holder and the son haven't been located. Not good.
6:33pm - Beat 2546 has the offender in custody just behind Ames Middle School.

7:05pm - Beat 2550 is requesting K9 to come over to the 6:15pm job. Dispatch is ordering them right now.

Female Gets Hit At CTA Bus Stop
Good afternoon, everyone, it's 4:08pm. School was ok. But now, it's the weekend and I'm ready just to relax after a long week :). Anyway, I received a reply from Alderman Colon a bit earlier from last night's email. He thanks me for "valuable community service" I provide for our area. He also tells me that they've had issues in that area before and are working to resolve them. Colon tells me he will contact the 14th, 17th and 25th District Commanders about the issue. I think this is very good news. I'm impressed with Colon getting back to me in such a timely matter. So, here's crime for this afternoon and evening.
4:13pm - Battery in progress. Diversey and Pulaski. Male Hispanic wearing black is hitting a female at the bus stop.
4:39pm - Shots Fired. 2154 N Springfield. Someone shot at the car as the caller was driving by. Nobody has been injured in the shooting.
4:43pm - A slow down has been given for the Springfield call.
5:00pm - Gang disturbance. Belmont and Central Park. Teen thugs hitting cars (I'm assuming with snowballs. That's they're most popular weapon. I should know). They're also flashing.

There were 10 of them trying to pull a guy out of his car and there was one with a black mask over his face who looked like he was trying to pull out a pistol. Teen Boyfriend Causes Problems On Shakespeare
Good afternoon, everyone, it's 3:25pm. I'm ticked off this afternoon, but not about school. I'm ticked off about punks in this neighborhood. The ones that hang out around Belmont and Central Park. Why do they feel the need to constantly throw snowballs at our school bus as we're coming down Central Park?? If it isn't them, it's the brats (yeah, that's what they are) from Reily doing it. I'm sick of this. I'm emailing Ald. Colon and the 17th District Police Commander about this. There needs to be squad cars present over there. It's complete uncalled for this to be happening everyday. Well, here's crime for this afternoon and evening.
3:22pm - Domestic disturbance. 3730 W Shakespeare. Problem with the 14 yr old daughter's boyfriend.
3:41pm - Assist the PO. Armitage and Keystone. Off duty PO has someone on the ground who may have a gun.
3:43pm - A slow down is being given for Armitage and Keystone. It was a fake gun that a kid pointed.

4:28pm - Check the well being. 4445 W Barry. The 8 and 11 yr old neighbors went upstairs with some guy who claimed to be their uncle. Caller wants to make sure nothing happened to them.

4:33pm - Beat car 2523 lets Dispatch know that they made contact with the kids' mother. They're calling the caller back.

7:07pm - I just checked Google maps for Hamlin and Belmont, and there appears to be no Moblie gas station at that corner.
7:10pm - A slow down is given on the 7:02pm job. An officer is saying the same exact thing I said, there appears to be no Moblie gas station there. The only thing over there is Dunkin Donuts. Beat car 2523 will drive around for a few minutes in the area to locate a Moblie gas station.

Small Group Of ASPIRA Kids Fight
Good afternoon, everyone, it's 2:59pm. I'm home earlier than usual. That's because there was light traffic. School was ok. It's just good to be home. Anyway, tonight we're getting freezing rain which may form some ice. Doesn't sound too good, does it? Well, anyhow, here's crime for this afternoon and evening.
3:02pm - Beat 2578Sam is coding out a fight at Harding and Barry. There was a small group of ASPIRA kids going at it, apparently. The crowd seems to have dispersed.
4:15 to 4:57pm - I didn't pay attention. Sorry.
5:10pm - Domestic Battery. 4141 W Barry. 23 yr old boyfriend named Lawrence hit the caller.
5:11pm - Beat car 2524 gets a gang disturbance on the PDT.
5:37pm - Zone 12 is having a problem with their radio. The 25th District is on Citywide 6, 460.250, for now until the problem is corrected.
5:42pm - The problem appears to be corrected. 25 is back on frequency 460.425, the regular Zone 12.
6:03pm - Robbery. 3006 N Kostner. Female was beaten down by two male Blacks who took the caller's purse and fled east on Wellington.

Reckless Driver In E. Logan Square/Avondale
Good morning, everyone, it's 5:00am. I'm only monitoring 14 until 5:28am this morning, then I'm going to get ready for school and go there. I'll be back with 25 this afternoon. Today will be sunny but only getting up to about 30 degrees. Anyway, like I said last night, we all should help donate something to the people of Haiti. They really need all of the help they can get. Here's crime for 14 for the next 28 minutes, and crime in 25 for this afternoon/evening.

5:04am - Now the car is at Western and Logan, running lights. Heading towards Diversey on Western.
5:06am - The employees of the gas station at Western and Fullerton are holding the offender.

Good morning, everyone, it's 7:42am. I'm monitoring 14 until 9:30am, then I'll turn the radio back to 25 until 2:44pm, then I'll monitor 14 again from then until 3:05pm, then I'm taking a break until 5:49pm. After that, I'll return with 25 until 6:47pm. Today is supposed to be in the 30s under cloudy conditions. I hope that maybe the temps and the colds may keep crime down on MLK day. It needs to be peaceful on a day like this. Also, I may fall asleep on some occassions today. I've only had 3 hours of sleep (I couldn't sleep last night). So, here's crime for today.

3:02pm - Suspicious person. 2800 block of N Troy. Male White, black hat, white hoodie and black jacket is heading south towards Diversey, checking out the cars. About a half minute later, Beat 1484 says he may have the guy stopped.

Traffic Accident On Harding
Good morning, everyone, it's 9:05am. I'm back with 25 on this foggy, cloudy and (currently) cold day. Right now, it's 22 degrees, but it's supposed to get to be about 35 degrees and sunny. We'll see how it goes. Anyway, tomorrow is MLK day. I hope there's peace tomorrow because MLK day stands for peace. So, here's crime for today.

12:02pm - The caller's calling back on the 10:58am job. Now they want a supervisor. Beat 2573, who responded originally, says that the caller was supposed to relocate to Irving Park and Sawyer, where the other parent lives with the kids and call the police from there. Sounds like a bunch of unnecessary drama if you ask me.

10:29am - The 10:07am job is coded 19Boy. They searched the entire property but no offender on scene. However, the city does need to come out and board up the property.

Group Jumps One On Milwaukee
Good afternoon, everyone, it's 3:47pm. Today at school was actually pretty fun. Well, today's warm outside. It's 40 degress right now. Anyway, those Reily kids were acting up again. They were fighting in the 3200 block of N Central Park, and a group of three attempted to throw snowballs at our bus at School and Central Park. They didn't do it but they did begin walk up to our bus in a threatening matter. So, here's crime for this afternoon and evening.
3:47pm - Battery. Milwaukee and Belmont. Group of male Hispanics jumped on one. A few calls came in. The offenders fled east on Belmont in a sliver van with a plate of 8445428. EMS is refused.
3:58pm - Battery in progress. Monticello and Belmont. Gangbangers fighting over a chick.
4:31pm - Both jobs are coded 5Boy. No vitcims found.
4:35pm - They're calling back on the 3:58pm job. The chick was jumped by a male Hispanic, 15, black hoodie with the street name of Dwayne. He's a Latin King. He also jumped the caller's son, brother and husband along with some other Latin Kings. The chick is about 14 yrs old. Bunch of drama if you ask me.
4:54pm - The 3:58/4:35pm vitcims were found. I'm not giving out the location due to the fact this involves gangbangers.

Knife, Gun Pulled Out On Fletcher
Good morning, everyone, it's 5:50am. Today is going to be a bit warmer than yesterday (good thing because I'm getting sick of the cold weather). We'll see what happens with that. Anyway, lots of progress is being made on Beat 2523. At this month's meeting, we'll have a speaker regarding the drunks on Milwaukee, and we'll also have a minister from St. Hyacinth at the meeting. I encourage everyone living on this Beat to go to this meeting. It's on the 27th starting at 7pm. Here is crime before I leave for school this morning and this afternoon/evening
5:51am - Person w/ a knife. 4160 W Fletcher. Someone pulled out a knife and is threatening to kill someone.
5:56am - Not sure if this is related, but there's a man with a gun call at 4115 Fletcher. Male Hispanic standing on the porch, screaming, with a gun.
6:00am - One officer thinks these two jobs are related. They seem to have called on each other.
6:13am - The 5:51am job is coded 19P. The people living there are just on some nonsense this morning. Beat car 2523 will not respond to anymore calls there for the rest of the day.

Good afternoon, everyone, it's 3:43pm. I feel so grateful that I have a blog where so many people appreciate me. It feels so nice to have people behind you and supporting your efforts. Burglar Alarm On Ridgeway
Good morning, everyone, it's 7:45am. A change has come to the Chicago Police Department. Now all of the districts seem to be on the same shift times as the 13th and 14th Districts are. I confirmed it as I turned on Zone 12 at 12am because Dispatch was calling cars like "2522Robert" when 2522 wasn't a Robert unit before and they didn't come out 'til 12:30am. The new shift times are in the comments section of this post. I find this change to beneficial because we'll get two man units earlier in the afternoon now, but at the same time, some night units are one man, so we won't have as much officers at night as we did before. So, here's crime for today.
8:41am - Burglar alarm. 2815 N Ridgeway.
8:42 to 8:49am - Beat car 2521 arrives on scene on Ridgeway at 8:42am. At 8:43am, 2524 pulls up. At 8:45am, 2523 pulls up. The three officers check the building. Then, at 8:48am, Beat car 2521 leaves the scene. A minute later, Beat cars 2523 and 2524 pull off. The job is coded 14Paul.

Good afternoon, everyone, it's 3:43pm. School was rather crazy today with some fights. But I'm not describing it, as this is a blog for our community, not where I go to school at. Anyway, it's supposed to get cold this weekend, which hopefully may drop crime a bit. Oh! Tomorrow, I'm monitoring 14. Also, I'm taking a nap until dinner. 3:59pm - Battery report. 2200 N Hamlin. At Mozart. Two kids, who are younger than 10 years, were beaten up by a 6th grader.
4:19pm - Disturbance. 3837 W Fullerton. At Salvation Army. The employees are holding the caller for stealing something when he didn't.
4:22pm - Apparently, there's a problem with gangbangers at 3140 N Hamlin. Beat car 2523 has a handwaver regarding gang members.

3:59pm - Battery report. 2200 N Hamlin. At Mozart. Two kids, who are younger than 10 years, were beaten up by a 6th grader.
4:19pm - Disturbance. 3837 W Fullerton. At Salvation Army. The employees are holding the caller for stealing something when he didn't.
4:22pm - Apparently, there's a problem with gangbangers at 3140 N Hamlin. Beat car 2523 has a handwaver regarding gang members.
4:49 to 7:31pm - I was having a nap. Need the sleep :).
7:40pm - Burglar alarm. 2815 N Ridgeway.

Good evening, everyone, it's 5pm. I'm glad to be home. School was good, but it was a headache traveling in the snow. Coming home wasn't so bad but going to school was a nightmare. I won't have to deal with that until the morning :). Anyway, I passed my constitution test, with a 79 percent score! I'm so glad. I was scared I wasn't going to pass. Well, here's crime until I go to bed at 8pm.

Two Intoxicated Males Arguing On Wrightwood
Good afternoon, everyone, it's 3:40pm. School was pretty good. Took a test as a requirement to graduate from high school (why they make us take the test in 10th grade is beyond me) but it was pretty easy. That's because it was a History test (and that's my favorite subject in school).
3:49pm - Disturbance. 3635 W Wrightwood. Two intoxicated males arguing.
3:55pm - Battery in progress. 2443 N Kildare. Group of kids beating on one in the alley.
4:06pm - Info for the police. Fullerton and Kildare. Male Hispanic, skinny, black hoodie, smoking a cigerette was involved in the 3:55pm job. It's believed that he's beating someone into a gang along with some others.

4:57pm - Domestic disturbance. 3747 W McLean. 17 yr old VS mom.

Crime Highlights Of 2009
All right, folks, I'm here with another post. This one is for the crime highlights of 2009 for this neighborhood.
1) January 3, 2009 at 3pm - Jose Zuniga and a accomplience fire two gunshots at Schubert and Monticello, right on Monroe School grounds. I called 911 on Zuniga after spotting him on my block. Unfortunely, he was never arrested.
2) January 6, 2009 at 7:55pm - Large group gathers at Barry and Monticello. Multiple calls for gunshots nearby at Ridgeway and Milwaukee.
3) January 19, 2009 at 6:30pm - Two alleged teen gangbangers were shot at Diversey and Albany. One of them was reportedly brain dead. The brain dead teen was allegedly just saying "hi" to his friends, according to one of his relatives. One angry commenter expressed real anger towards Alderman Rey Colon (35th).
4) February 7, 2009 - Two shootings occurr with a block radius on George. The first one occurred at 3820 W George at about 2:30pm. A guy was shot once in the leg. Blood and bullets were found. Large fights broke out five times after the shooting. The second shooting happened at 11:23pm. A guy who lives on my block was shot in the stomach or back.
5) February 5 and 19, 2009 - Two incidents of rape happen in Logan Square. The offender was the same on both incidents. He was later caught. The first incident happened on the 2300 block of W Moffat and the other one happened in the 2100 block of N Maplewood.
6) March 4, 2009 at 7:40pm - Shooting on the 2800 block of N Troy.
7) March 7, 2009 at 12am - Big brawl erupts at 2957 N Milwaukee from a party.
8) March 17, 2009 at 7:21pm - Police come across a street fight at Diversey and Harding. Back-up was requested. The fight was domestic related. Also, there was a big fight at Harding and Barry. A 40 yr old female was injuried during the malee.
9) March 22, 2009 at 5:45am - A man gets shot near Koz Park, in the 2700 block of N Harding. He was innocent.
10) March 30, 2009, after 8pm - Huge gang fight breaks out in Koz Park. Over 100 people were involved.
11) April 9, 2009 at 6:02pm - A driver had pulled out his gun to people driving on the Kennedy Expressway throughout Avondale and Logan Square. The offender was caught and arrested an hour later.
12) May 6, 2009 at 9:48pm - Four to five gunshots fired around Wolfram and Lawndale. Then, there were Shots Fired all around Beat 2523.
13) May 19, 2009, just after midnight - Five or six gunshots fired at Lawndale and Wolfram or Diversey. Possibly gang-related.
14) May 28, 2009 at 2:40am - Shots fired around Kedzie and Wellington. Four to five gunshots. Possibly gang-related.
15) May 29, 2009 at 7:53pm - Two males get shot at Hamlin and Lyndale. One man was shot several times in the arm. The other guy had graze wounds. He was released several hours later and then brought into police custody for questioning. Possibly gang-related.
16) June 6, 2009 at 1:30am - The first murder in Logan Square occurrs. No details on it. 2700 block of W St Georges.
17) June 7, 2009 at about 4:45 and 9:54am - Gunshots fired in the area southeast of Milwaukee and Ridgeway. Then, lots of gunfire heard in the 2800 block of N Ridgeway.
18) June 13 to 15, 2009 - Lots of gunfire in the southern Avondale area again. On the 13th at 6:35 and 8:44pm, three gangbangers, named Tony Vasquez, Jose Perez and Eddie Chavadara, fire a series of gunshots into the 2900 block of N Hamlin. It's believed they were looking for someone. On the 14th at 2:09am, two gunshots heard at 3650 W. Diversey, and George and Lawndale. Then three gunshots in the 2800 block of N Ridgeway. On the 15th at 2:35pm, there were two gunshots followed by people screaming at Diversey and Ridgeway. Quite a few officers came and investigated.
19) June 20, 2009 at 8:23pm and all night - A huge fight breaks out from the Puerto Rican Festival at St. Louis and Fullerton. Someone was battered enough to recieve an ambulance ride to the hospital. Also, there were lots of violence along Fullerton in the 3800 block with crowds of people looking to harm people.
20) June 25, 2009 from 8:52 to 12:00am - Lots of calls for gang disturbances at George and Springfield. Two men were causing major problems on the street over there. Also, there was multiple gunshots fired in the area of Diversey and Ridgeway.
21) July 1, 2009 at 1:05pm - Gang fight erupts at Fullerton and Avers. They beat up a male by Salvation Army.
22) July 3, 2009 at 9:11pm - A group of people had a fight at Diversey and Ridgeway. It was pretty bad, as a female was beaten up.
23) July 12, 2009 at 3:46pm - A 23 yr old man was stabbed in the chest in the 2900 block of N Springfield during an altercation with two males. The attack was possibly gang-related. The vitcim, fortunely, lived through the attack.
24) July 15, 2009 at 10:10pm - There was a murder in the 2900 block of W Palmer. No information on it, however.
25) July 19, 2009 at 7:40pm - A 16 yr old boy was shot in the back in the 2900 block of N Gresham. He was standing on a porch with his gangbang friends (the vitcim was a gangbanger) when a rival gang member came by and shot him. Five to six gunshots were fired.
26) July 20, 2009 from 5:02 to 6:55pm - Two gang fights break out at Koz Park. The first one involved 15 teen female gangbangers. They were dispersed. But, at 6:55pm, all hell broke loose at the park. Anywhere from five to 100 people started fighting. Multiple units went as there nearly 20 calls on the fight. Three people were badly beaten. One of the vitcims had to go to the hospital. Also, there was a teen fight at Diversey and Pulaski at 5:27pm. At 6:02pm, a group of gangbangers gathered between Diversey and George on Ridgeway. Also, and lastly, there were gunshots fired at Wrightwood and Springfield.
27) July 21, 2009 at 1:56am - Shots fired at 3915 W. Wrightwood, Fullerton and Pulaski, 2700 N Harding and 3907 W Wrightwood. About 15 shots were fired with three vehicles doing the shoot-out. An automatic weapon was used. Possibly gang related.
28) July 28, 2009 at 7:57pm - Multiple 911 calls for Shots Fired at 2921 N Gresham. Four to five shots fired. Two vehicles involved. Possibly gang-related. It was coded out later.
29) August 8, 2009 at 6:29pm - Three males get shot at Armitage and Humboldt. One person has been shot in the arm, one person has been shot in the leg and one person has been shot in the torso (waist area).
30) August 18, 2009 at about 9:30pm - A woman was sexually assaulted near Western and Armitage. The offender followed her off the train from the Western Blue Line stop. He then grabbed her and placed an object to her next, then robbed and sexually assaulted.
31) August 23, 2009 at 10:28pm - Multiple calls for gunshots fired at Diversey and Harding. Bona fide. Three Cobras were shot at by a blue van. No crime scene found, however.
32) August 25, 2009 at 12:47pm - A man is viciously beaten in Koz Park by ten guys. He had two small children with him. There were ten offenders who did this. They were never found.
33) August 27, 2009 at 4:36pm - Big gang fight breaks out in the 1800 block of N Lawndale. Bats and sticks were used. Units had to call for back-up.
34) September 2 to 4 - Three days of uncontrolable behavoir at ASPIRA High School, 3986 W Barry. On the 2nd, there was a "Person Wanted" call regarding a female student in the main office wanted for Battery. I guess that envolved into a huge school fight, as Beat 2574 had to call for back-up. It got so bad to where they had to send a wagon and make several arrests. On the 3rd, Beat 2574 responded to another "Person Wanted" call regarding a female student in the main office wanted for Battery. No incident unfolded on that day, fortunely. But then it got real insane. Here's why. On the 4th, school administration found a threatening letter. Police were called. An unloaded gun was found in the school. The school had to be evacuated.
35) September 9 to 11 - Several days of violence around Wrightwood and Lawndale. The first incident was on the 9th at around 7:55pm with a big gang fight in the 2600 block of N Lawndale called in by an off duty PO. On the 10th, they gathered at the corner of Wrightwood and Lawndale and had another fight. This was around 5:15 in the afternoon. For a couple of hours afterward, gang disturbances followed near Fullerton and Ridgeway. On the 11th, there was group of 10 that gathered with sticks in hand at 5:31pm. About 15 minutes later, they had another fight.
36) September 15, 2009 at 11pm - One man was shot and another beaten at Diversey and Lawndale. This happened during the Mexican Pride parade. Not sure if it was gang related or not. The media actually covered this shooting. As the gunshots went off, people were sent running for cover.
37) September 22, 2009 at 6:53pm - Hostage situation at 2452 N Harding goes wrong when police shoot the offender. But, he asked for it when he raised his gun at them. The situation was domestic related.
38) October 15, 2009 at 2am - A 17 yr old is shot to death in V Live Club, 2047 N. Milwaukee, after an argument with another guy who pulled out a gun and shot the vitcim. The club had served people under 21 on this night, but fortunely, they supposedly were not allowed drinks. Also, there was a beating outside of the club, which Chicago Police said was unrelated. This sparks a debate in my comments section.
39) October 25, 2009 at 1:45am - A guy gets shot in the buttocks at about Shakespeare and Lawndale. He was hanging out with some guys over there. This was most likely gang related.
40) October 31, 2009 at 6:46pm - Multiple calls of Shots Fired come into 911 for Belmont and Monticello, and Central Park. Not even a minute later, a pregnant woman turns up shot in the back at 3137 N Monticello. The woman lived and the baby was unharmed, thankfully. Also, a 18 yr old male was shot in the right thigh. The people who committed the shooting were Latin King gang members.
41) November 8, 2009 at 4:15am - A 24 yr old man was beaten to death in his home on the 3300 block of N Harding. The vitcim was found with multiple assault wounds. This is believed not to be gang related.
42) December 8, 2009 at 9am - A 14 yr old kid was shot in the head walking to school with his mom in the 3400 block of W Armitage. The person who shot the vitcim is a gang member. The vitcim himself is also a supposed gang member. He's with the IGs. He had just gotten out of jail for armed robbery and was heading to his school to re-enroll since being expelled.
43) December 15, 2009 at 12:20pm - A 32 yr old man is killed at Diversey and Avers as two vans chased each other in a supposed gang related incident. The vitcim was riding his bike when one of the vans hit him. They bike was reportedly thrown across Diversey. The suspects fled the scene, not even bothering to check on the vitcim, so the incident was ruled as a Homicide.
There you have it, the 43 crime highlights of this neighborhood for the year of 2009. There are probably more but I don't remember or know about them. 1) January 3, 2009 at 3pm - Jose Zuniga and a accomplience fire two gunshots at Schubert and Monticello, right on Monroe School grounds. I called 911 on Zuniga after spotting him on my block. Unfortunely, he was never arrested.
2) January 6, 2009 at 7:55pm - Large group gathers at Barry and Monticello. Multiple calls for gunshots nearby at Ridgeway and Milwaukee.
3) January 19, 2009 at 6:30pm - Two alleged teen gangbangers were shot at Diversey and Albany. One of them was reportedly brain dead. The brain dead teen was allegedly just saying "hi" to his friends, according to one of his relatives. One angry commenter expressed real anger towards Alderman Rey Colon (35th).
4) February 7, 2009 - Two shootings occurr with a block radius on George. The first one occurred at 3820 W George at about 2:30pm. A guy was shot once in the leg. Blood and bullets were found. Large fights broke out five times after the shooting. The second shooting happened at 11:23pm. A guy who lives on my block was shot in the stomach or back.
5) February 5 and 19, 2009 - Two incidents of rape happen in Logan Square. The offender was the same on both incidents. He was later caught. The first incident happened on the 2300 block of W Moffat and the other one happened in the 2100 block of N Maplewood.
6) March 4, 2009 at 7:40pm - Shooting on the 2800 block of N Troy.
7) March 7, 2009 at 12am - Big brawl erupts at 2957 N Milwaukee from a party.
8) March 17, 2009 at 7:21pm - Police come across a street fight at Diversey and Harding. Back-up was requested. The fight was domestic related. Also, there was a big fight at Harding and Barry. A 40 yr old female was injuried during the malee.
9) March 22, 2009 at 5:45am - A man gets shot near Koz Park, in the 2700 block of N Harding. He was innocent.
10) March 30, 2009, after 8pm - Huge gang fight breaks out in Koz Park. Over 100 people were involved.
11) April 9, 2009 at 6:02pm - A driver had pulled out his gun to people driving on the Kennedy Expressway throughout Avondale and Logan Square. The offender was caught and arrested an hour later.
12) May 6, 2009 at 9:48pm - Four to five gunshots fired around Wolfram and Lawndale. Then, there were Shots Fired all around Beat 2523.
13) May 19, 2009, just after midnight - Five or six gunshots fired at Lawndale and Wolfram or Diversey. Possibly gang-related.
14) May 28, 2009 at 2:40am - Shots fired around Kedzie and Wellington. Four to five gunshots. Possibly gang-related.
15) May 29, 2009 at 7:53pm - Two males get shot at Hamlin and Lyndale. One man was shot several times in the arm. The other guy had graze wounds. He was released several hours later and then brought into police custody for questioning. Possibly gang-related.
16) June 6, 2009 at 1:30am - The first murder in Logan Square occurrs. No details on it. 2700 block of W St Georges.
17) June 7, 2009 at about 4:45 and 9:54am - Gunshots fired in the area southeast of Milwaukee and Ridgeway. Then, lots of gunfire heard in the 2800 block of N Ridgeway.
18) June 13 to 15, 2009 - Lots of gunfire in the southern Avondale area again. On the 13th at 6:35 and 8:44pm, three gangbangers, named Tony Vasquez, Jose Perez and Eddie Chavadara, fire a series of gunshots into the 2900 block of N Hamlin. It's believed they were looking for someone. On the 14th at 2:09am, two gunshots heard at 3650 W. Diversey, and George and Lawndale. Then three gunshots in the 2800 block of N Ridgeway. On the 15th at 2:35pm, there were two gunshots followed by people screaming at Diversey and Ridgeway. Quite a few officers came and investigated.
19) June 20, 2009 at 8:23pm and all night - A huge fight breaks out from the Puerto Rican Festival at St. Louis and Fullerton. Someone was battered enough to recieve an ambulance ride to the hospital. Also, there were lots of violence along Fullerton in the 3800 block with crowds of people looking to harm people.
20) June 25, 2009 from 8:52 to 12:00am - Lots of calls for gang disturbances at George and Springfield. Two men were causing major problems on the street over there. Also, there was multiple gunshots fired in the area of Diversey and Ridgeway.
21) July 1, 2009 at 1:05pm - Gang fight erupts at Fullerton and Avers. They beat up a male by Salvation Army.
22) July 3, 2009 at 9:11pm - A group of people had a fight at Diversey and Ridgeway. It was pretty bad, as a female was beaten up.
23) July 12, 2009 at 3:46pm - A 23 yr old man was stabbed in the chest in the 2900 block of N Springfield during an altercation with two males. The attack was possibly gang-related. The vitcim, fortunely, lived through the attack.
24) July 15, 2009 at 10:10pm - There was a murder in the 2900 block of W Palmer. No information on it, however.
25) July 19, 2009 at 7:40pm - A 16 yr old boy was shot in the back in the 2900 block of N Gresham. He was standing on a porch with his gangbang friends (the vitcim was a gangbanger) when a rival gang member came by and shot him. Five to six gunshots were fired.
26) July 20, 2009 from 5:02 to 6:55pm - Two gang fights break out at Koz Park. The first one involved 15 teen female gangbangers. They were dispersed. But, at 6:55pm, all hell broke loose at the park. Anywhere from five to 100 people started fighting. Multiple units went as there nearly 20 calls on the fight. Three people were badly beaten. One of the vitcims had to go to the hospital. Also, there was a teen fight at Diversey and Pulaski at 5:27pm. At 6:02pm, a group of gangbangers gathered between Diversey and George on Ridgeway. Good morning, everyone, it's 12:00am. Happy New Year, everyone!!!! It's finally 2010! I'm excited and hopeful for this new year. I'm hoping it brings alot of good things. Anyway, there's been 4 gunshots on my block about two minutes ago. Already. I called it in to 911. The call taker wasn't too happy that I called it in. She said it's New Year's. I told her I understand that it'll be a while before the police arrive. Well, anyway, I will be making a second post tomorrow morning regarding crime highlights of 2009 for this neighborhood. Here is crime for this first day in 2010.
12:14am - Shots Fired. Barry and Central Park. 6 heard.
12:20am - My call for Shots Fired just came out. 2561Eddie is assigned but is coding it out. I can't really blame them because it's way too busy. There's at least 10 shots fired calls in the district.
12:28am - 1) Shots Fired. 4155 W Barry. 2) Open door. 3135 N Lawndale. 3) Disturbance. 3167 N Milwaukee.
12:29am - Shots Fired. 2125 N Kedvale. Heard in the gangway.
12:31am - Attempt suicide. 3942 W Barry. 20 yr old brother.
12:36am - Shots Fired also being called in at 2121 Kedvale. A guy in a black hoodie was in the back with three other guys. He fired four shots.
12:43am - Fireworks. Fullerton and Lawndale.
12:45am - The 12:43am job is coded. Also, the RD numbers are now HenrySam (HS).
1:27am - Reckless driver. 4355 W Belmont. Going east into Avondale is a car that's going real fast and hit some people? Wow.
1:28am - Traffic accident. 2126 N Hamlin. Gangbangers crashed into the caller's car and now there's a disturbance on scene.
1:35am - Check the well being. 1606 N Harding.
1:44am - Suspicious person. 3720 W Armitage. Male at the door. Caller's unsure what he's going to do.

9:30am - Beat 2510 is on scene at 2523's disturbance. A supervisor from CTA needs to come out with another employee. Sounds like a CTA driver is in trouble .... ;).
9:33am - And that CTA driver is probably going to jail. They're requesting a cage car for a transport.
9:43am - Vicious animal. George and Pulaski. Loose dog just chased the caller and their dog. The loose dog resides at 2840 N Harding.
10:05am - Domestic disturbance. 2606 N Hamlin. Couple fighting.

5:15pm - A 17th District unit has an on view domestic at 3038 N Monticello. They're asking for a 25th District unit to come assist. One officer says they should handle it alone. Dispatch agrees. 2523 will head over.
5:18pm - 2523 is given a disregard from the 5:15pm thing.
5:19pm - Now that 17th District unit wants a supervisor to bring over a car seat. 2530 has one and will. 2540 was also asked to bring another one but didn't reply.
5:26pm - Domestic disturbance. 3110 N Milwaukee. A couple in an apartment are making loud noises, which leads the anonymous caller to believe they're domesticating.
5:50pm - Person w/ a knife. 2032 N Karlov. Drunk boyfriend has a knife.
5:51pm - Disturbance. 3119 N Haussen. Drunk guy sleeping in the hallway.
6:35pm - Parker. On 2523's Beat.
6:43pm - I have to go eat. I'll be back soon.

7:45pm - A unit has a traffic stop at Wrightwood and Tripp.
9:05pm - Check the well being. Lawndale and Milwaukee. Male not dressed for the weather, crawling on the ground and just passed out.
10:17pm - Shots Fired. 2917 N Ridgeway. One heard with two males running towards George.
10:48pm - Not sure what happen with the shots fired, but I'd like to say this, there was a very good police response :). I observed the Beat car, a wagon and an unmarked unit come down here about four minutes after the call came out. But to the idiot who had their car doubled parked in the middle of the street, YOU SHOULD'VE MOVED IT. The police had to get through for an emergency. If I were one of the cops, I would've wrote you a ticket right on the spot. Or I would've pushed your car with my squad car.
10:49pm - Shots Fired. Ridgeway and Oakdale. Caller says they were shot at as they were going to their car, but they don't want to speak to the police. But they gave their name. Why'd you call then? Unless you want to talk, it's a waste of time looking for an offender. The alleged offender is a male Hispanic gangbanger.
11:02pm - Check the well being. 4418 W Fullerton. Female with a baby says she's got nowhere to go.
12:00am - I'm going to go. I'll be back after my dinner tomorrow night.

7:45pm - A unit has a traffic stop at Wrightwood and Tripp.
9:05pm - Check the well being. Lawndale and Milwaukee. Male not dressed for the weather, crawling on the ground and just passed out.
10:17pm - Shots Fired. 2917 N Ridgeway. One heard with two males running towards George.
10:48pm - Not sure what happen with the shots fired, but I'd like to say this, there was a very good police response :). I observed the Beat car, a wagon and an unmarked unit come down here about four minutes after the call came out. But to the idiot who had their car doubled parked in the middle of the street, YOU SHOULD'VE MOVED IT. The police had to get through for an emergency. If I were one of the cops, I would've wrote you a ticket right on the spot. Or I would've pushed your car with my squad car.
10:49pm - Shots Fired. Ridgeway and Oakdale. Caller says they were shot at as they were going to their car, but they don't want to speak to the police. But they gave their name. Why'd you call then? Unless you want to talk, it's a waste of time looking for an offender. The alleged offender is a male Hispanic gangbanger.
11:02pm - Check the well being. 4418 W Fullerton. Female with a baby says she's got nowhere to go.
12:00am - I'm going to go. I'll be back after my dinner tomorrow night.
