Two Large Pit Bulls Running Through W. Logan Square, Motorcycle Gang On Milwaukee Ave.

Good morning, everyone, it's 9:41am. It's a mostly sunny morning with temps in the upper 60s, and today will remain this way with temps getting real close to 80. I'm monitoring 25 today from now until 3pm, then again from 9:30 to midnight. Tomorrow, I plan on covering 25 from 6:33am to this time, then from 3 to 9:30. It still feels really good to be on vacation from school. I'm enjoying my time off, as I go back to school June 5th. I'm taking a morning summer class on Mondays/Wednesdays until the end of July. It's a computer class, so it should be interesting. With that, here's crime for portions of today.

9:52am - Vicious animal. Palmer and Avers. Two large pit bulls running through the area.

9:54am - Beat car 2524 is giving Beat car 2525 a disregard over there, she thinks this is related to her call she had a little while ago at Hamlin and Wrightwood, so she'll check this one out too.

9:55am - I heard this call on Zone 3, in 14, but there's a report of the "motorcycle gang" converging at 1890 N Milwaukee Ave. We have about 100 motorcycles parked on the street. They're probably getting ready for some sort of event.

10:00am - 2524 is on a traffic stop at Palmer/Avers now.

10:03am - 2525 needs another car at Diversey and Avers. He's got a few stopped. Beat 2544 is headed over.

10:11am - 2524 is coding the job as a 19Boy. She returned both of those pit bulls to their owner on the 3700 block of W Palmer.

10:15am - A unit has a traffic stop at 3056 N Milwaukee Ave.

10:17am - Parker. 42XX W Wrightwood. Car blocking the driveway.

11:27am - Disturbance. 36XX W Oakdale. Group of males drinking in the alley.

11:34am - Beat 2506Adam has a street stop at 4407 W Diversey.

12:08pm - Disturbance w/ a mental. 41XX W Belden.

1:44pm - Beat 2582 is doing foot patrol on Fullerton from Kilbourn to Central Park. Event number is 09109.

1:51pm - 2544 is on a gang suppression mission from Springfield to Pulaski from Armitage to North Ave.

2:37pm - Gang disturbance. Kilbourn and Wrightwood. They're on the corner, flashing signs.

3:00pm - I'm going to go until 9:30. I'll be back then, everyone, and have a great afternoon!

9:30pm - I'm back. Good evening, everyone.

9:31pm - Gang disturbance. Kilbourn/Wrightwood.

9:38pm - Disturbance. 3167 N Milwaukee Ave. At the Burger King. Man causing a ruckus inside, refuses to leave.

10:27pm - Just FYI, everyone, but at 5:24pm this afternoon, but there was a report of "Shots Fired" at Wrightwood and Lawndale. Two shots were fired. There was one call only. Beat car 2522 responded and found nothing, so a code of 19P was given.

10:28pm - Parkers. On 2523Robert's Beat.

10:36pm - Gang disturbance. 18XX N Harding.

10:37pm - Disturbance. On 2535R's Beat.

10:54pm - Battery in progress. Kedvale and Dickens. Two males fighting on the street.

10:56pm - A slow down is being given on the 10:54pm job.

11:33pm - Beat car 2515R is helping a couple of 14th District units do some traffic control at Milwaukee and Central Park in response to a fire that's going on.

11:58pm - Burglar alarm. 31XX N Lawndale.

11:59pm - Everyone's clear off of Milwaukee.

CBS "48 hours" has an interesting episode tonight. "The War In Chicago." I fear this is the summer the national guard will be forced to come in & restore order. With all due respect, you think your CAPS meetings help?!!!

I wouldn't be surprised if the National Guard does come into the tougher neighborhoods to restore order.

As far as the CAPS meetings go, they are not "my" meetings. They are meetings conducted by the Chicago Police Department. I go to these meetings not only to just report on them for the community, but I also go as a citizen who wants to help improve my community. Right now, I don't feel as these meetings are doing all that much to help, but that is, in my opinion, because not enough neighbors go to these meetings. I understand not everyone can make it to them due to different obligations they may have, but some people flat out just don't care then want to blame the CPD for not doing enough when we should all know by now that the police can't make our neighborhoods better on their own. They have to have our help, mainly because we know more about what happens in our community than they do since, obviously, we live here. As I have been telling everyone for the last couple of years, this has to be a combined effort on all ends. The CPD, Aldermen and all of us neighbors have to work together to improve our neighborhoods. The only way programs such as CAPS are going to work successfully is if all of us participate in one way or another.

Motorcycle gang? No, probably those weekend yuppies that dress up as bikers. They look like that one guy from the "Village People" I've even seen off-duty cops trying in boost their manhood by dressing up that way.
