Good morning, everyone, it's 6:51am. It's a mostly cloudy morning with temps around 70, and today will get into the upper 70s with thunderstorms, with severe weather possible. I'm monitoring 25 today from now until 9:24am, then I'll be gone until 1:45pm, at which time I'll return until 4:45. At 4:45, I'm going to be gone until 10:10, then I'll be back at that point and monitor until midnight. Tomorrow, I'm going to monitor the Zone B area, then I'm going on a blog vacation until Wednesday or Thursday. Still haven't decided for sure, but we'll see. With that, here's crime for portions of today.
6:59am - Beat 2582Foot is doing foot patrol on Milwaukee this morning.
7:33am - Beat car 2525 is detailed to a school crossing at 3800 W Armitage until 8am.
8:24am - Parker. On 2535's Beat.
8:33am - Disturbance. 23XX N Monticello.
8:58am - Information for the CPD. Cortland and Hamlin. Male wearing a white t-shirt tried to grab a Ames student at this intersection.

3:12pm - 2583 is being requested to pay special attention to the gang problem over at Kelvyn Park.

3:40pm - Beat 2582 is writing a peddler, who has no license, a ticket over at 2801 N Kildare. Event number is 10638.

You realize it's stupid to post the weather after the fact, yes? Also, why do you even bother with this anymore? Half the time you're telling people that you have to eat or how hard school is. Speaking of school, college is a lot of work; don't get into self-pity because it isn't easy.
Weather is related to crime, believe it or not. I'm not sure if you knew that or not but in fact, it is. Warmer weather tends to bring out more of the gang activity and crimes such as battery, assault, etc. while in the winter crime, we have more burglaries and what not. I put the weather up here so that readers know what to expect with crime.
I "bother" with this because I have readers who care about their communities and want to know what is going on, and not everyone has time to listen to a police scanner nor watch the news. Some people like to read about what's going on rather than have to listen for what's going on. Even if no one appreciates my work now, they will down the road.
As I said before, I tell people I have to go eat because I don't want them expecting crime updates during the time period I'm gone, especially if they're reading around that time. If I wanted to really tell people I have to go eat, then I would also tell them what I'm eating, but we don't see that obviously :).
It's funny how I don't recall explaining how hard school is all the time. I've said it here and there that it can be hard, but I don't go into it usually because everyone already knows how hard college is. You don't need to be a rocket scientist to figure that out. Heck, even someone as dumb as me can figure that out. And to add on, at this time, I'm not talking about how hard school is; I'm merely letting my readers know that I have a scheduling issue with my summer class so they know what to expect with my monitoring in the next couple of weeks. I'm just a courteous person who likes to let people know about things before they happen, sorry if that bothers you though.
Since I'm here, I'll just say this: I have in fact been wondering lately why I still do this blog. I do sometimes feel like it's a waste of my time, like people don't care. And truth be told, I've actually been beginning to devote myself more into other things rather than this all the time. But then I realize the community needs this information, whether they want it or not. I already know what happens around here so I don't do this for me, I do this because I care about my community and the people who live here, even if they don't care about me.
Lastly, and this to everyone, I've been saying this for nearly 5 years now, but if at anytime anyone else wants to take over this blog, I'm just an email away. I'll GLADLY hand it over to someone who has more time for it or can do a much better job at it than I can :).

It's funny how you get negative comments on here, but it means that they must be reading your blog. its incredible how easy it is for people to make ignorant comments especially when they are anonymous on the internet. please don't listen to the negativity and I hope you keep doing this because you want to not because you feel you have to.
Why can't the foot patrol march to the liquor stores at 7AM & talk to the owners about responsibly serving? The serving of cheap vodka & malt liquor to vagrants is the cause of 80% of our community problems. It's not the gang bangers as many assume.

Uh Mrs. Robinson, They sell cheap vodka and malt liquor to the homeless at very high prices. A pocket pint of vodka that sells for 3.99 at Jewel, is sold by those stores at 6.99 a bottle. These stores profit off the homeless.
