Good morning, everyone, it's 12am. This morning, I'm covering 14 until 5am, or at least I plan on to. I want to cover 14 overnight so that you guys can get a feel of what it's like. After I do this, I'll go to bed until 10:30, then I'll get up and do 25 for the whole day. Anyway, today's supposed to be in the 80s with some thunderstorms and what not. We'll see what happens with that. Here's crime for today.
12:05am - Traffic accident. Wellington and California.
12:08am - Battery in progress. 3537 W Dickens. Five females fighting in front.
12:09am - The females from the 12:08am job are supposed to be fighting with bats now.
12:11am - A slow down is being given on the 12:08am job.
12:18am - Disturbance. 2210 N Milwaukee. Homeless male refuses to leave the bar.
12:21am - The fight on Dickens is coded. Beat car 1424Robert says there's no injuries, nor was there any physical violence.
12:22am - Disturbance. Logan and Sacramento. People making lots of noise and taking down construction stuff.
12:31am - Disturbance. Wabansia and Francisco. In the alley between Francisco and Mozart, teens are drinking and breaking bottles.
12:36am - Burglar alarm. 1754 W North Ave.
12:45am - Beat 1402 gives out a flash from a stolen vehicle at Shakespeare and Drake. It occurred at 12:15. The vehicle is a stolen '96 Saab Hatchback. It is sliver in color.
12:58am - The 12:45am victim's husband found the car at Palmer and Kedzie. Victim just left the station, without finishing the report.
12:59am - Beat car 1422R asks for a focus mission. Event number is 00640.
1:09am - Is the Logan Festival STILL going on? Seriously? At 1 in the morning? I'm asking because a call just came in for loud people from the fest. Logan and Sacramento.
1:17am - Beat 1410R says that the Logan Festival's officials are taking down the gates just now.
1:24am - Parker. 2900 block of N Woodard. Permits.
1:25am - Loud music disturbance. 3315 W Wrightwood. Loud party.
1:36am - 1) Fire. 2800 W Diversey. Car. 2) Disturbance. 2111 W Churchill. Some guy's sleeping in the caller's backyard.
1:42am - 2111 Churchill is coded 16Boy. The man's not there.
1:46am - Beat car 1413R has an on view disturbance at Armitage and Drake. Spanish speaker needed. 1432R will go.
1:47am - Beat car 1422R has a traffic stop at Cortland and California.
2:09am - Theft in progress. Kedzie and Belden. Black Honda Accord is getting broken into on the street.
2:11am - The offenders from Kedzie and Belden are in a maroon van, plate of H793071. The Accord now has a broken window on it.
3:33am - Gang disturbance. 18X8 N Fairfield. They're in the alley, yelling and throwing garbage cans around.
3:40am - Beat 1410R and Beat car 1421R need another car at North Ave. and Milwaukee. Some type of on-view disturbance.
3:44am - A slow down is being given on the 3:40am assist.
3:48am - Shots Fired. Francisco and Wabansia. Five heard.
3:52am - A slow down is being given on the 3:48am job.
4:08am - Domestic disturbance. Whipple and Schubert.
4:25am - Explosion. Armitage and Kimball. Loud explosion heard. Details to follow...
4:26am - Burglar alarm. 1871 N Leavitt.
4:27am - Battery in progress. 2539 N Milwaukee. Male and female fighting.
4:32am - The explosion is bona fide. A gas line exploded. Couple of units are on scene.
4:34am - Female needed for a search on the 4:27am job.
4:39am - The boundaries on the explosion are Dickens-Lawndale-Bloomingdale-Sawyer.
4:40am - This explosion affects 925 ComEd costumers. Beat car 1412R is sitting on the scene, in case the line explodes again.
4:56am - Power is slowly coming back on in the explosion area.

12:09pm - Beat car 2521 asks Dispatch if there was any calls for a battery in Koz Park last night around 9:30. I'm looking through the calls for last night, and that was called in at 18:34 (6:34pm) hours. The guy's buddies are inquiring.
12:33pm - EMS run. 3910 W Wellington. 80 yr old man is feeling ill.
1:13pm - Backlog in 25 at 13:13 hours.
1:14pm - Beat 2563Adam is in pursuit of a grey Chevy Impala that clipped their vehicle. They're at Oak Park and Belden. Vehicle is heading towards Rutherford on Belden.
1:15pm - Offender is in custody at 6640 W Belden.
1:34pm - Check the well being. 2952 N Avers. Elderly male appears lost of confused. He's sitting on the porch.
1:44pm - CSA report. 3704 W Cortland. Teen brother was sexually assaulted.
1:46pm - Person wanted. 3759 W Fullerton. Two male Blacks wanted for robbery. One's circling the area on a bike.
1:53pm - Beat 6758Henry asks for a call back on the 1:46pm job.
1:54pm - Dispatch tells 6758H that the caller left the area. The job is coded.
2:00pm - Renewed backlog in 25 at 14:00 hours.

2:53pm - 1) Disturbance. George and Avers. People riding on mini-motorcycles down the street. 2) Disturbance. 3137 N Hamlin. Guys drinking in the alley.
2:56pm - Holding the offender. 3940 W Fullerton. An offender that stole items from CVS is being held by the store manager at 2514 N Springfield.
3:08pm - Beat car 2514, who's handling the 1:44pm job, needs a car at 3920 W Wrightwood for the crime scene. A unit is going over.
3:19pm - Burglar report. 2657 N Ridgeway.
3:39pm - Parker. 3600 block of W Dickens.
3:48pm - An RD number has been pulled from the 2:56pm job. It's HS407021 with the event number of 10189.
3:53pm - Gang disturbance. Altgeld and Ridgeway. Group congregating on the corner.
3:56pm - Criminal trespass in progress. 1719 N Harding. Nine kids in the abandoned building, breaking windows and destroying the place.

4:04pm - Beat car 2533 says that there were a bunch of kids in the 3:56pm building, but they were chased out.
4:17pm - Domestic disturbance. 3129 N Springfield. Problem with the roommate.

4:40pm - Beat car 2521 asks for a call back on the 4:17pm job.
4:43pm - The 4:17pm caller no longer wants to speak with police. Coded 1Paul.
5:15pm - Disturbance. Pulaski and Fullerton. Two people begging. The female looks like a meth head.
5:32pm - Battery in progress. Milwaukee and Lawndale. Two males fighting.
6:14pm - Battery in progress. Kelvyn Park. Ten to 15 gangbangers fighting with children around. They're on the NE corner of the park.

9:44pm - Suspicious person. 3072 N Avers. Two female Blacks and three male Blacks are approaching people in a real strange way. Caller thinks they're trying to mug someone.
9:57pm - Beat 5591 had a male to take off from him at Dickens and Lawndale. Heading towards Central Park. The offender is Hispanic, is 5'5 and may be 16 to 17 yrs old.
9:59 to 10:08pm - Police/Dispatch chatter regarding the 9:57pm thing. Officers are pissed off at the previous dispatchers, because they left without telling the new shift what was going on.
10:54pm - Battery in progress. 3076 N Milwaukee. Report of a fight in front.
11:01pm - An RD number has been pulled from the 9:57pm thing. It's HS407720 with the event number of 18294.
11:02pm - 1) Beat car 2524 has a traffic stop in the alley of 4032 W Armitage. 2) Assault in progress. McLean and Pulaski. Four males threatening the caller.
11:30pm - Person w/ a gun. Hamlin and Dickens. Offenders in a black vehicle have guns.
11:33pm - Domestic disturbance. 3722 W Lyndale. Mom's going crazy.
11:34pm - The 11:33pm mom is trying to kill herself. She locked herself in the bathroom.

Whats the logan fest have never heard of it and dont they usually have a carnival by your block did it past already
I think the Logan Fest is new. In any event, it's being held on Logan Boulevard. I think it lasts through this week. About the carnival, it's at St. Hyancinth's. We don't have it until mid August. Two days after it, I'll be going on vacation from blogging.
Vacation! what will we do without you. I liked your urging us to get more involved. I jump up on that soap box all the time. It's hard to practice what I preach. Thanks to your words and hard work here I will put in the extra effort.

Our building was tagged over the weekend. I'll post the pic to the FB so everyone can let me know which gang did the defacing. I've always wondered, with spray paint illegal in the city, do gang members pile into the minivan and drive out to the burbs to pick up a few cases?
Hi Ally. At some points, yeah, 14 had me busy. But, I think since I covered overnight, that was just all of the calls coming in through the overnight. 14 covers about 90% of Logan Square.
Sorry to hear about your building being tagged. When you post the pic up on the Facebook page, I'll take a look at it as well. About the spray cans, I'm thinking they probably do get into their cars and head out to the suburbs.
