That had to hurt. Sorry to hear that happened to you. If that were me, I'd wait about 10-15 minutes for the police. If they didn't come by then, I'd probably go find the kid and beat them up. But, I think it's smarter just to wait for the cops because the kid may have a weapon (like a gun or something), may be a gangbanger, etc. Or, if someone else calls about you beating down the kid, they'll probably take you in instead of the kid.

In the mornings, I've been noticing the Milwaukee street cleanup crews doing jobs for the last 3 mornings on my way to work.

Also I noticed some city workers are hitting and flushing all the abandoned suites in buildings like on the corner of Milwaukee and Diversey above the Payless Shoe store.

Its nice to see the crews starting to come into Avandale neighborhood.

Anonymous 1:43, that sounds great! I'm really glad to know that they're out there doing something for Avondale finally. I hope this work will keep up.

The Payless Shoe store building on Milwaukee and Diversey is going to become the Logan Square Arts Center, with retail businesses on the ground floor and performance/exhibition/independent film screening space in the basement and on the 2nd floor, and living space on the upper floors. They're starting work soon. It promises to be a great place for music/art/dance in our community.

That sounds real great. I'm so happy to know that we'll have another positive place in our neighborhood. I will visit the center once it's completey finished.

One question, though. Will Payless still be there?

I don't know one way or the other about Payless, but what I heard was that there would be retail on the ground level.

I hope Payless will stay there. It's a good business. And, I'm glad to know about that building being made into a Arts center.
