Shots fired on Haussen Court

Good morning, everyone, it's 12:27am. Anyway, it has snowed. We've got probably an inch outside. That, along with the colder weather, may decrease crime for today. I plan on being here all day. Here is crime for today.

My observations on school

Hey, everyone, school has been good this week.

March 30: On Monday, things were calm. I only observed some loudness and disrespect. Same old stuff.

March 31: On Tuesday, things were good. Just the usual fooling around. The only thing I didn't like was when a couple of kids in English class (they're in there for Division and I'm in there for 2nd period so it wasn't the 2nd period kids) gave me a nasty look because I was in there extra time, trying to finish up a major test we were given (I'm allowed extra time on tests). The teacher had told them to be quiet when they came in so I could focus and that's why there were mad.

April 1: On Wednesday, we went on a field trip. We went to Navy Pier (we didn't get to ride the rides though). It was nice. It wasn't all fun and games though. We did work. We have tomorrow off because of report card pick-up day.

April 3: Thank goodness that this is the last day of school for a week. Spring break is here! Anyway, I saw several arguments, acting like fools and a fight or two (though I'm told there were many more fights). Other than that, it was a good day. There was a birthday/Spring break party in my class.

- Thanks,
Avondale/Logan Square Crime Blotter

P.S. My observations will return on this site on April 17.

Happy April Fool's Day 2009

Good morning, everyone, it's 6:08am. Happy April Fool's Day. Today is the 1st day of April, which means alot of exciting things for me. Spring Break next week, my sister turns into an adult on the 12th and many more stuff. Anyway, today should be a very interesting day. Factored with near 55 degree temps, this should be a great day for fools. I will not be around for a time period this afternoon (not sure yet. I'm visiting Monroe school) and this evening (to wash up), so there may not be too many postings tonight. Anyway, here is crime for this afternoon/evening. Oh, and to those who "celebrate" today and read my blog, don't pull any pranks that will have the police coming to your house and arresting you.

3:53pm - I'm back. Disturbance. 2421 N Harding. No further information.

4:10pm - Beat car 2505 is doing a park check at Kenwell Park.

Just as I got home, I was told that a fight was ensuing over there. I'm told they were fighting with bats. I'm also told they were harassing people as they were leaving Monroe school.

6:24pm - Police are responding to Armitage and Pulaski for something. There are multiple calls on it. When units arrive, an argument could be heard in the background and police say something about a mental going south on Pulaski.

6:29pm - Traffic accident with a disturbance on scene. Diversey and Avers. Park District bus VS parked car. On the southeast corner. Guess they're arguing now.

Brown Ford blocking space on Lawndale

Good morning, everyone, it's 6:13am. Today is the last day of March. Tomorrow will be April 1st, which means that warmer weather will finally come (in the next few weeks). It also means that tomorrow is April Fool's Day. I'm not really looking forward to that because factored with near 55 degree temps and sunny skies, I think crime may increase. Anyway, here is crime for this morning before I leave and for this afternoon/evening.

6:08am - Parker. 3133 N Lawndale. Brown Ford blocking the handicapped space.

9:56am - Sorry I never let you guys know that I left this morning. I left at 6:40. I'll be back this afternoon.

3:31pm - I'm back. Anyway, there's police/dispatch chatter of a person around Milwaukee and Lawndale or Central Park and Oakdale that may be wanted for something. I'm not sure on the details but they've got Beat car 2573 heading west on Oakdale from Central Park. I'll try my best to get some more info on it.

3:41pm - Beat 2504 is talking about an incident that happened at the Monroe school. I'm not sure on the details of this incident either, but the officer says that the offender (a student from Monroe) has left for the day.

Around 3:50pm - Traffic accident at 3913 W Fullerton.

3:57pm - Beat 2523 gets a disturbance on the PDT.

4:08pm - Disturbance. 3659 W Diversey. Problem with the owner of the hair salon.

6:43pm - Theft. 3025 N Pulaski. A middle eastern woman, about 5'5, 160 pounds, slim bulid, long hair pulled back, green t-shirt and blue denim jeans stole some stuff. The owner chased her down and got the stuff but now she's hanging out by the bank in the strip mall.

6:55 to about 7:00pm - I was outside fliming the heavy downpour.

7:02pm - I have to go eat now. I'll be back soon

7:16pm - I'm back from eating. Assault somewhere on Armitage. Something about a tenant being threatened.

7:45pm - I'm going to go now. Good night, everyone, and I'll be back tomorrow.

Stabbing last night near Koz Park?

I've got word of a stabbing that supposedly occurred last night near Koz Park. According to my source, supposedly 100 people were fighting and someone was stabbed. Anybody know if this is true? If it is, I'm asking for details.

UPDATE, at 3:42pm - I apologize for giving everyone the wrong info. I misunderstood my source. This was a gang fight, not a stabbing. It did involve 100 people, however. In fact, at one point, Beat car 2546 told officers to watch the area. I'm also told that there were alot of calls of battery in progresses last night in that area.

Bus alarm on CTA bus #1902

Good morning, everyone, it's 6:15am. Today, I head back to school after a nice 3 days off, but I'm really not complaining because we've got another day off on Thursday (for report card pick-up.
