Shots Fired In W. Logan Square, Gas Pipe Hit

Good morning, everyone, it's 12:43am. It's a freezing overnight, with temps in the upper teens and clear skies. Today will be in the upper 20s with a mix of sun and clouds. I'm monitoring 25 for a little while, then I'm headed to bed and will return after my dinner this evening. Tomorrow and Tuesday, I'll be on a special monitoring schedule for New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. Here's crime for portions of today.

12:44am - 1) Shots Fired. Schubert and Central Park. Six shots heard. 2) Shots Fired. Central Park and Diversey.

12:45am - Shots Fired. 2700 block of N Lawndale. People screaming and running.

12:46am - 1) Shots Fired. 2700 block of N Monticello. 2) Shots Fired. Diversey and Lawndale. Lots of shooting.

12:47am - Just an FYI to everyone, but I heard the shots and called 911.

12:48am - Beat 4536Adam is saying that the shooters hit a natural gas pump at 3701 W Diversey. People's Gas needs to come out right away as it's leaking and there's a smell. A couple of units are being requested to head over for traffic control. Beat 4536 is being notified about this.

12:49am - 1) The shooters were supposedly Maniac Latin Disciples from Central Park and Barry. 2) CFD needs to go over there to that pump. 3) Traffic control is needed and a perimeter needs to be set up. This sounds serious...

12:50am - There's a description now from the shooting. Five male Hispanics ran into 3701, a 4-door maroon Honda Acura was also involved. It fled towards Ridgeway on Diversey. Calls are still coming in, so officers are advised to use extra caution.

12:51am - Another male ran into the bar at 3653 W Diversey. He's a male Hispanic with a black jacket and gray jogging pants.

12:52am - Also getting a call that a man ran into 2816 N Lawndale from the shooting. He's a chubby guy. Another guy was with him, he was wearing a puffy jacket. They fired shots at "kids" on the corner.

12:53am - CFD shut the gas off over at the gas pipe. People's Gas is still needed, though.

12:56am - Shell casings are reportedly laying on the ground by 3701, according to a 911 call. Also, Beat 2520Robert is saying that traffic control is no longer necessary, and the People's Gas will need to look at the pipes because they're damaged.

12:58am - Dispatch was just told by their front desk at OEMC that People's Gas doesn't handle pumps. But the cops said pipes. Dispatch misunderstood the officer who radioed that in. They'll be re-notifying their front desk.

1:11am - People's Gas is on scene and they're saying that the owners will have to repair the pipe in the morning. In the meantime, the people who live in that building will have to leave for the night.

1:18am - 1) Disturbance. 23XX N Ridgeway. Caller heard the sound of glass breaking outside. 2) Burglar alarm. 30XX N Kenneth.

1:21am - 1) Loud music disturbance. 37XX W Dickens. 2) Disturbance. 3919 W Fullerton. At the Fullerton Hotel. Caller's trying to get his belongings, someone's causing a problem with him.

1:38am - Disturbance. 37XX W Dickens. People screaming in front.

1:44am - I'm going to go for the night. I'll be back in the evening. Have a great day, everyone, and I'll see you all later.

7:33pm - I'm back. Good evening, everyone.

7:48pm - Traffic pursuit. Traffic pursuit. George and Nordica. Beat 41Nora10Adam is in pursuit of a white Honda with a plate of 314353 that is heading north on Nordica towards Wellington. This car's involved in a "person w/ a gun" call nearby, and per 41N10A, the guy DOES have a gun. Two subjects are in the car. Units are advised to use extra caution.

7:49pm - Okay, the guys bailed out of the car. He's in the north alley of Belmont between Nordica and New England.

7:50pm - Headed north on New England from Belmont, one hopped the fence at the first house off the alley.

7:51pm - The offenders are two male Hispanics, and apparently, they left the car on Newland.

7:53pm - These two guys were last seen running west on Belmont at Sayre, trying to catch a CTA bus headed west, per Beat car 2514.

7:54pm - One guy's wearing a blue hoodie and another has on a baseball cap. The one with the cap was the passenger.

7:55pm - Beat 2584 has one on the ground at Nora and Wellington. He's wearing a white jacket.

7:56pm - A slow down is being given at Nora/Wellington per Beat car 2534. 2584 is okay.

7:58pm - Sounds like everything's okay with this whole thing, so just back to our neighborhood coverage...

8:42pm - Loud music disturbance. 18XX N Harding.

9:54pm - Shots Fired. Central Park and Fullerton. Four shots were heard.

10:00pm to 12:00am - I fell asleep. I'm sorry. I'll listen to the 911 tape and have the calls up by Wednesday, January 2, 2013 (12/31/12).

Perhaps folks just have to turn in and identify all gangbangers in our area.

Lets demand a re-map of police districts. 25 is just not doing their job, perhaps 14 or 17 can help us.
