Premises Check At Monroe And Nixon Schools

Good morning, everyone, it's 7:05am. It's a sunny morning with temps in the mid 60s, and today will be sunny with temps in the upper 80s. Our real last taste of summer, because after today, temps will be in the 70s and a couple of days won't even make it out of the 60s. I'm monitoring 25 this morning until I have to leave for school, then I may come back at some point on one of my two breaks for a little bit, and/or when I get home from class. Today's my mother's birthday and I'm hoping she has a great one :). I look forward to spending time with her when I get home today. That's all I have to say, so here's crime for portions of today.

7:25am - Beat 2578Sam is doing a premise check at Monroe school, 3651 W Schubert.

7:46am - 2578S is now at the Nixon school, 2121 N Keeler.

7:48am - Beat 2575XRay is at Monroe also, as that's his detailed post for today, and is saying that there's about 110 people out there protesting with a TV camera on scene. Just an FYI to dispatch.

8:02am - Parker. 36XX W Oakdale. Permits.

8:14am - Beat 2506David is taking one into 25 from a traffic stop at 4038 W. Armitage, needs a cage car for the transport. Beat car 2525 is headed over.

8:17am - Beat car 2524 is ordering up a reload for a car involved in an accident overnight at 26XX N Kostner.

8:31am - I have to go to class. I'll be back later or tomorrow. Have a great morning, everyone.

4:56pm - I'm back, and early at that. Criminal Justice ended really early today. Good afternoon, everyone.

4:58pm - Assault in progress. 41XX W Barry. Group threatening each other in front.

5:14pm - 1) Disturbance. Milwaukee and Monticello. Drunk guy stumbling around, causing problems. 2) Some call on 2523's Beat.

5:25pm - Battery in progress. 37XX W Palmer. Three males fighting.

6:05pm to 7:20pm - Fell asleep. I'm sorry, guys. I'll monitor this time period tomorrow.

7:33pm - Shots Fired. Ridgeway and Fullerton. Multiple calls. At least five shots heard.

7:34pm - Shots Fired. Altgeld and Monticello. Couple of shots fired.

7:36pm - 1) Shots Fired. 24XX N Lawndale. 2) Shots Fired. 23XX N Harding.

7:41pm - Calls have been continually coming in for "Shots Fired" at Ridgeway/Fullerton.

7:43pm - Beat 2520 is giving a slow down on all of these "Shots Fired" calls. Citizens are confirming that shots have been fired, but no one saw an offender or anything.

7:44pm - Gang disturbance. 21XX N Lawndale. Group of six teens in front involved in gang activity.

8:03pm - The 7:36pm job on Harding is coming in now as a "suspicious person".

8:08pm - I'm going to go for the night. I'll be back tomorrow. Good night, everyone.

These teachers knew how the pay and conditions were before they became a CPS teacher. There are many out of work teachers out there. Perhaps the city could just replace the ones on strike?

Does anyone have any info on that Brown Line that was hit by that cpd car? I hope the train is doing good & back in service.

A Anonymous 9:29am - The train is good. Scratches on the left front end and damaged panels. The train was taken into the CTA fabrication shop with great care and after the NTSB Investigation Unit 4A33 did their work. Lou Polaski and his team went to work. They refabricated the panels and reworked the connection lines and internals. All electrical shop work was completed at Malbin Machine Works. The train is currently in service and performing to CTA specifications.

Community meetings & block parties are not helping. Aggressive pro-active police action are what this city needs. NYC reduced their crime by increasing aggressive "street stops".

Aggressive street stops? Ever have the police stop and shake you down?
