All Call Message For 14 And 25

Good morning, everyone, it's 8am. It is the first day of Spring, which means a lot of things. The reminder of the cold weather (the 30s and lower 40s) should definitely be making an exit in the next couple of weeks, as well as the threat of snow for the most part, and warm up into the 60s, 70s and even lower to mid 80s. I don't think we'll see that big of a warm up in the reminder of this month, but as we get into April, we should. Hopefully, that is. Anyway, I have currently two community meetings to attend this week. One would be the Avondale Neighborhood Association which is tomorrow evening at 7pm, at St. Hyacinth's Church in Resurrection Hall. Then, my CAPS Beat meeting, 2523, is on Wednesday. That's at the Copernicus Center on Milwaukee, at 6:30pm. So with that, here's crime for today.

9:00am - An all call message is broadcasted on Zones 3 and 12. Two men, both members of the Maniac Latin Disciples gang, robbed and attempted to shoot an off-duty Chicago Police Officer in front of 3820 W North Ave. At 05:45 hours (5:45am), the Officer was driving home from work at this location when two males came to the Officer's car. One repeatedly pulled out a gun at him and the other tried to ram the Officer off the road with his car. Fortunately, the offenders were arrested, and it is presumed that the Officer is ok. Also, Operation "Just Cause" has been implemented to target members of the Maniac Latin Disciples gang.

11:28am - Criminal trespass. 3643 W Diversey. Teens going into the vacant building.

11:51am - 1) Parker. 3841 W Belden. 2) Information for the police. 2315 N Kedvale. Something about a burglary and a need for an ET.

1:33pm - Beat 2562Adam has a street stop at about 2011 N Lawndale.

2:38pm - 1) Suspicious person. Wolfram and Central Park. 2) Landlord/tenant dispute. 2414 N Keeler.

3:20 to 3:35pm - Wasn't paying much attention to the radio, because I was looking at the ominous clouds over the area. Don't think there were any calls, though.

5:13pm - Hold-up alarm. 4418 W Fullerton.

5:16pm - A disregard is being given on the 5:13pm job. It was accidental.

5:36pm - Person w/ a gun. 2014 N Karlov. Male Hispanic with a black hoodie has a gun.

5:38pm - Beat car 2525 said someone just ran into the building at 2014 on Karlov, but a disregard is being given.

6:37pm - I have to go eat. I'll be back soon.

6:51pm - I'm back.

6:54pm - Beat car 2523 has a street stop at 3650 W Fullerton.

7:03pm - I'm going to go for the night. I need to do some stuff and then make a post on the shooting at Kedzie and George this morning. I'll be back tomorrow from 3:20 to 3:35pm. Goodnight to everyone.

Any info on gang activity near Belmont & Karlov? I live on Karlov and every day there's new graffiti all over the neighborhood (garages, buildings, alleys, etc.)

I think it's Latin Kings and Gangster Disciples. Anyone hear anything about this?

Also, do you have to be the property owner to call 311 and get it removed? I'm sick of looking at all this nonsense (and worried something may happen over the next few weeks as the weather gets warmer and these morons are out more) so I want to get the City to remove it, but I don't know if they will since I don't own any of the property that has been tagged.

You don't have to be the property owner to have call and have graffiti removed. Call every day. Don't be shy. Report it everyday and also you can take a picture and send it to your alderman. EVERY DAY! Squeaky wheel gets the grease.

There was a drug bust that targeted the MLDs I think a month ago. Looks like their going to fall.

anon 2:59 - the MLDs will not fall due to a CPD target... Yeah a few will get dumped in jail for a while. Think about it like exterminating cockroaches. Unless you get them all, they keep coming back and there's no way the understaffed CPD will get them all.

The only way you could possibly rid the city of gangs is to have the police shoot them on sight.
