St. Hyacinth's Convent Being Broken Into

Good morning, everyone, it's 7am. I'm waking up for school. I have to be there at 10:39, but I'll be leaving here around 9:20 or 9:25. I'll quit blogging at 8:54. Anyway, it's cold out this morning. It's only 35 degrees, and it's only going up to 43 today. Oh well. That's just a sign of winter coming. Also, I'll be back when I get home around 3pm. Here's crime for portions of today.

7:08am - Burglary in progress. 3651 W George. Someone's breaking into the convent of St. Hyacinth's church.

7:12am - Beat car 2523 is on scene. They can't get into the building. Also, at first, there is confusion whether this is an apartment building or a convent.

7:27am - 2523 is talking with the caller. Things are getting sorted out.

7:52am - Parker. 4329 W Drummond. Handicap.

8:30am - Fire. 2978 N Milwaukee.

8:42am - The fire is bona fide. Traffic needs to be blocked off eastbound at Lawndale on Milwaukee.

8:54am - I'm done blogging for this morning. I'll see you all this afternoon. Have a great day!

3:26pm - I'm back. Good afternoon.

3:30 to 4:10pm - There were a few calls in the area.

4:14pm - Vice complaint. 3702 W North.

4:39pm - Some call at 4041 W Barry.

5:18pm - Loud music disturbance. 3614 W Palmer.

5:45pm - Some call in the area.

5:49pm - A unit has a street stop at Koz Park.

6:18pm - Robbery. 3638 W Wrightwood. Caller was robbed in the store.

6:39pm - The 6:18pm job is bona fide. A canvas is being done.

6:45pm - I have to go eat. I'll be back.

6:59pm - I'm back.

8:08pm - Burglar report. 2935 N Ridgeway.

10:27pm - Disturbance. 3737 W McLean. N0isy neighbor.

10:40pm - Person calling for help. 2153 N Keystone. According to the 911 call-taker, there sounds like there is a fight in the background, and a woman is screaming.

11:16pm - Some call in the area.

12:00am - I'm going to go. I'll be back tomorrow. Good night, everyone.

Probably homeless, looking for church wine. Yes, keep giving the homelss bums money, and their number will grow.

they are generally not referred to as homeless by coppers, but as pissbums. just saying

I'm glad I moved out of 23's beat back before the housing collapse. All of you other saps are stuck there for now. Who in their right mind would live on 23's beat? Look at how the streets and blocks are designed for God's sake! Designed and built by drunken polocks is my guess. Liberals that coddle these homeless bums and complain if an officer is mean to them.

One dumb broad got a complaint against an officer because he dumped a cup of water over a homeless guy's head to wake him up and move him along! Way to go to motivate the police. I like your blog Timmy, but do yourself a favor, as soon as you can move out from that scummy wasteland, do it!

Wow Big John Stud, you have managed to put down the polish, liberals and anyone living in 2523 in one short post. Since it is obvious that nobody taught you this lesson when you were a kid, I will. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all. By the way, I am glad you moved out of the neighborhood as well. Your attitude is exactly what keeps this neighborhood like it is. People like Timmy are actually doing something to make it better. Maybe you could learn a few things from him.

Anonymous 8:33, I agree.

Big John Studd, we're glad that you moved off of Beat 2523, too. Joshua is 100% right, it's attitudes like yours that keeps Beat 2523 the way it is. I'm in my right mind, too, choosing to live here. I for one love this area. I've been here my entire life, and I plan to stay in the area for a long time. Despite the problems we have over here, this is still a pretty damn good area if you ask me. I would take living here over some other parts of Chicago any day.

I agree with Joshua and Timmy on this one. Moving a person along doesn't have to turn into abuse! Today it's a cup of water, tomorrow...a kick in the ribs? Maybe a nice taser to the chest? This line of thinking that people who are homeless are that way because they chose it purposely is absolute rubbish!

You people with these harsh, know it all, narrow minds are exactly what helps create the problem and to also make the problem worse!

Maybe a bit of education is in order! Let's try looking at the fact that even the best of people can become mentally ill, even the best workers can lose their jobs, even the best people can become addicted to something, even the best of people can fall into some sort of contrived situation in life and no amount of responsible approaches by the person is going to help because everyone has made up their minds and made judgements already!

Then, there's the fact that there are absolutely more people than there are jobs and places to live. Let's also touch on corruption in our city, county, and state government. Let's talk about corporate buddy-buddy bullshit in which only people who are well known or well connected to someone get educational, career, and living opportunities!

There are people with medical problems that become unable to work, and become homeless while waiting for Social Security Disability benefits to be approved! This situation leads to all sorts of exacerbation and to mental illness due to much more than the human mind was designed to handle! I can go on forever about the various causes for all of the homelessness, addiction, etc.

You're doing a great job, Timmy!

Wow! Thanx Josh, you pretty much just showed off and exampled the Liberal mentality. If you got nothing intelligent to retort, (i.e. an educated response or prove me wrong) then attack me with nursery rhymes your mommy taught you.

Sorry, the beat is a scummy joke and it's about time someone like me laid it on the line and told it like it is. I didn't even mention all the illegal Mexican immigrants that are ruining this city besides the neighborhood.

Let's put it this way, the saddest thing I saw on this blog was the clown that cried bout photographing one of the homeless goofs, then got attacked by him. If you can't beat up one of these homeless clowns that can barely walk then I'm glad we didn't have you to count on during WWII otherwise we'd be speaking German and Japanese now. Face it, everyone has warm memories including myself about 2523's beat from back in the day, but the writing is on the wall....move out as fst as you can!!!!

P.S. Hey Josh, GFY!!!!!

------------------------------------

Don't get me wrong kid, I like your blog and the work you do, but have you ever drove home drunk from Teasers (it's a 4am bar) then tried to find parking on the beat? I sideswiped and crashed into about 6 cars on Haussen Ct. one night while blasted....I was worried at first when I went to bed, but big surprise, none of the drunken polish or mexican car owners, and I use the term owners lightly, filed a complaint because none of them had insurance.

I noticed Josh had nothing intelligent to add about me complaining about the broad that got a complaint against the copper either, lazy flatfoot that he is.

Have you noticed lately the Mexicans are over running the polish pissbums? Up by the Shell gas station its all Mexican pissbums now.

Hey Joshua, why not let the homeless sleep at your house? Make a pissbum camp in your garage like the bums have at 2941 N. Avers. Can't believe how many of you just love the pissbums.

Anonymous 12:58, well ... actually, it IS true that most of the homeless on Milwaukee chose to live that way. Being a part of CAPS, and seeing CPD and other city departments offer them help for them only to refuse shows me that they'd rather live like that. But I do agree with the rest of your post.

Big John Studd, if this Beat was such a joke, you wouldn't have lived here. Yeah, this area is a little different, but so what? That's what makes us unique. As a matter of fact, EVERY Beat in this city is unique. There's different problems on each Beat. We just happen to have a big problem with the "homeless", and gangbangers. But we've been really working on the homeless situation. Take a look at Milwaukee Ave. right now. You will notice that there's not as much drunks as there was, say, a year ago. About the Mexican immigrants, I actually agree, but to a point. The ones who need to go are the ones who commit crime, I think. The ones who are good just need to become citizens. About that "clown" and the drunk photograph, you need to get your facts straight before you call him a clown, and before you say he was crying. He was just stating he photographed a drunk, then the asshole came after him because he doesn't want the photos to get to the Liquor Control Commission, which either makes the liquor stores straighten up (stop selling to the already intoxicated), or close. It's not that my friend couldn't beat up the drunk, it's just that, first off, if he beat him up, he would've gotten arrested, instead of the drunk getting arrested. And, second, the man attacked is in his mid to late 60s. He could probably still defend himself to a point, but you know, it was better that he reported the attack to the police. Why fight back? That only escalates the situation more than it was already.

Anonymous 6:34, it's actually been like that for about a year or so now. The Polish drunks are either going south or north, while the Mexican ones stay around the gas station and places like Burger King, Taco Bell, etc.

FYI, anonymous 9:51, Josh lives down the street from there. He knows about the problem, and he doesn't like it. None of us do.

Big John, regarding your comment to me, I don't drive (at least yet), nor drink (and NEVER will) so it doesn't matter to me. You were drunk, so that's on you, buddy.

not exactly forever.

just until you die.

unless you plan on haunting the living with your pity for the 'less fortunate'.

don't worry, though, everybody's misery comes to an end, in due course of time, because every body dies.
