Gang Disturbances On The 20 Sector Of 25

Good afternoon, everyone, it's 3:19pm. It's a pretty rainy afternoon outside, and it's actually supposed to storm some, then a cold front's coming through and it'll get under 30 degrees tonight. Tomorrow will only be in the low 40s, or upper 30s. So enjoy today while you can, because it's in the mid 60s right now. Anyway, tomorrow is my two year anniversary of this blog. Yep. I started this blog on November 23, 2008. I can't believe it's been two years already. Well, all I hope is that my reporting's been beneficial to all, and that this blog sticks around for many more years to come. So, here's crime for this afternoon and evening.

3:22pm - Gang disturbances at 3647 W Diversey, and Fullerton and Harding.

3:34pm - Parkers on 2524's Beat.

3:57pm - Traffic accident. Wrightwood and Keeler.

4:00pm - Theft report. 2856 N Central Park.

4:38pm - Parker. 3979 W Barry. Car blocking the garage.

6:28pm - Crminal damage. 3963 W Belmont.

6:37pm - I have to go eat. I'll be back.

6:55pm - I'm back.

7:00 to 7:20pm - Had something important to do. Sorry.

8:36 to TBA - Fell asleep, then left for the night. Have a good night, everyone. See you all tomorrow evening, starting at 7.

Heard the city's going to change manpower of the police force on the northwest side. I guess they're going to pull police units out of 017, 014, and 025 to quell the problems on the southside. We'll just have to watch crime really shoot up here now.

Actually there not taking manpower out of 14 or 25 there adding more manpower to our district when we talk about crime were the westside but when they want to sell there condoa were the northside. I been seeing a couple cars not from this beat but from the far northside, and i think they exaggerate the southside is not that bad a couple neighborhoods are nothing compared to the westside were none are actually safe.

Thanks, Josh! I am trying the best I can, and it looks like it's paying off at least some.

Anonymous 5:48, thank you! I also hope we all have many more anniversaries to share with each other. Yes, I did well on my report card. Had two Bs and five As :). And, Happy Thanksgiving to you, too!

Anonymous 3:21, you've got to be kidding me ... seriously??? I can see them pulling police out of 14 and 17, but 25??? What is WRONG with them for even considering that? 25 is the second largest district in the entire city, and one of the more violent, so we need as many cops as we can get here. In fact, WE should be getting more cops than some of these areas getting the extra office. God, this is gonna get real ugly, real fast. If this happens, crime's really going through the roof. I can see that now.

Anonymous 3:39, I am sincerely sorry to hear that. I really am. I can't imagine how you must be feeling. You'll be in my thoughts, and I really hope you can find a job sooner or later. If there's anything I can do to help, or have my readers help, let me know. Having experienced this in my family, this is just devastating.

Yeah 14 gotten pretty quiet but not on the Logan Square Humboldt Park beats they patrol, West Town, Wicker Park, and Bucktown are pretty quiet but back in the day 14 would annually rake up 150+ murders a yr but this was when crime in Chicago was high now im pretty sure the beat gets 50+ murders still high but theres been a big decrese. But dont get me started with 25 its a abyss filled with crime its such a bad area they have a police camera rigth on Cetral avenue.

14's better since the yuppies pushed out the ghetto savages. More cops for 25? Why? So they can slack off like the ones aready there?

Anonymous 11:15, I can agree. Beats 1413, 1421 (Logan Square), 1422, 1423 and 1424 (all Humboldt Park Beats) are the most active in 14. I remember when 14 used to be pretty violent, and like you said, some of that has claimed down, but 14 can get a little violent when it wants to. Still nothing like 25, though, as you said. Most of 25 is just awful. It's not too safe in my area, but I'll honestly say it's paradise to the south and west ends of 25. Beats 2531 and 2532 are horrifying from the sounds of things on the radio.

Anonymous 7:29, first off, not all of the cops in 25 are slackers. In fact, there's a good percent of them who will do their job the way it's supposed to be done. But the jerks and bad apples really do make them look bad. Second, 25 needs more cops so all hell doesn't break loose. To me, there are some spots (including my block as of late) in the District that are ticking time bombs, and if we don't have enough cops in the area, that bomb will explode. And it won't be pretty. Also, 25 needs more cops to protect the law-abiding citizens. For too long, 25's been under-policed, and it's time we get more some officers.
