Crime Blotter For November 18, 2010

Good morning, everyone, it's 12am. It's pretty cold outside. It's in the 30s right about now. It'll get into the low 40s today. It's supposed to be sunny. Anyway, today, I might (and I say might now, because mom doesn't feel too well) go with mom to get my report card at school, but I've definitely got a block club meeting tonight at 6:30pm. I'll stop blogging around 5:45 or s0, and won't come back for the night, as it's a school night. So, here's crime for today.

1:57am - There's been no crime so far as I've been listening in, so I'm off to bed. Good night, everyone. I'll be back in the morning.

9:31am - I'm back. Good morning.

11:14 to 11:17am - My radio was still on Citywide 6, which is where Zone 12 was until 11:07 (because of their radio problems) from last night and this morning, and I forgot to switch back.

1:29pm - Battery. 2010 N Central Park. At the Funston school. A teacher shoved a student. Thanks to ProdigalOne for getting this while I was at the store.

1:59pm - I'm getting a report of a lot of smoke in the area of Kimball and Belmont. I'm not hearing anything over on Zone 12 so far.

2:10pm - Beat 2570 is heading over to Ames Middle School on Hamlin.

2:13pm - Gang disturbance. Armitage and Pulaski. They're arguing in the gas station.

4:40pm - Disturbance. 1704 N Springfield. Dispute with a 15 yr old over stolen property.

5:32pm - Gang disturbance. 31X0 N Monticello.

5:52pm - I'm going to get ready for this meeting. I'll be back tomorrow at this time. Good night, everyone!

Of course there's no crime, its cold outside. Those fools don't want to stand around in the cold.

While your at the block club, can you order some of those who live there to clean up the area a little bit? Ridgeway's always looks kind of dumpy. Even the store that used to be at Ridgeway and George closed down because the area had got crummy.

Does your block club cover Gresham and milwaukee ave?

Anonymous 7:03, we did a block clean-up back in last month. But we're not doing another one until the weather breaks (February or March), and I'm the one who decided that. I don't see any point in a clean-up with snow on the ground. But yeah, I agree, it does always look a little dumpy over here. And that may be a reason why we had three incidents of violence in four weeks. If you'd like to know why I made that decision, you can email me. By the way, do you live in the area? We could use more people in the block club.

Anonymous 10:10, no, sorry. The boundaries are Diversey-Avers-Milwaukee-Ridgeway. I really think Gresham needs to have a block club, though. If anyone's interested in starting one, I can probably help you guys start one.

Anonymous 7:00, that's not always the case, though. Especially in the area where I live. It's been known to get crazy sometimes even when it's cold. But it was good not to hear anything last night.

Oh, and anonymous 7:33, I'll ask people to clean up in front of their houses on a regular basis.

Lots of smoke coming from the Kimball/Belmont area - anything on the radio?

How much section 8 is in Logan square today? That's the reason for the mess. Ever notice most area's of section 8 are trashed out? Give folks free living, free daycare, and a link credit card and watch what happens.
Look at all these link approved stores? Most carry junk food. How about doing away with allowing processed foods? Allow only raw goods, 50lbs. bags of rice and potatoes. No more chips and soda.

It pisses me up what ppl say about section 8 housing mostly everyone living there are good ppl. Most of them are good hard working ppl trying to make a good living. They say bangers lie there but they uually dont they migth cause trouble in that block but that doesnt mean everyone in section 8 is a criminal

Response to November 19, 2010 9:03:00 . Umm Section 8 people apartments get inspected yearly. If they don't meet up with what section 8 requires they lose there benefits. Don't assume all people on link eat junk food. UGH!!!

Gee weren't the projects section 8? How about most of the westside? Sounds and looks like its more of a problem with the ghetto savage. Any area he comes into gets trashed. But as usual, the liberal geek don't think it's the savages fault.

Why I've seen those shoppers at the store with their Link cards. Most are usually over-weight with a cart stuffed with forzen snacks, chips and soda. Hardly the diet of a healthy person. If this country is having financial problems perhaps a cut in this dept. is in order.

Didn't hear anything on the radio, anonymous 1:46.

Anonymous 9:03, you know, I think Section 8 could be a good thing, but you're correct that there's too much of it in Logan Square. I think that Section 8 needs to be spread out all over the city, and not concreted into neighbors such as ours. Neighborhoods like Humboldt Park and Uptown have the same exact problem. But I disagree with you about the Link. I think it's good to have a lot of stores in the area that take the Link, as Section 8 people aren't the only ones using it. There's people, including my family, who use it just until they get enough money to where they don't need it anymore. And I personally disagree about the food/drinks. I buy candy and soda all the time because it's what I like, but you don't see me committing any crimes or anything.

Anonymous 3:56, I disagree when you say most people living in Section 8 are good. That's simply incorrect, at least from what I've seen. Yes, I agree, and know, there are some good people who do live in Section 8, but it seems like most of the people who use it are nothing but gangbangers and criminals.

Anonymous 5:49, I can agree with that.

Anonymous 6:28, thanks for the link.

Anonymous 11:29, I agree. Seems like the people who are bad living in Section 8 are these people with their ghetto attitudes and outlook of life.

Anonymous 7:48, just because there's some people who abuse the Link card (by always buying junk food), doesn't give you the right to cut the Link. Do you realize what that can do to some people? I'm talking about good people, too. If you do that, you'll make people like me homeless a few months after.
