Good morning, everyone, it's 12am. It's a nice late evening out there, with clear skies and temps around the lower 50s or so. Today will get into the 60s and be sunny. Hopefully there won't be too much crime as a result of that. Anyway, I'm monitoring 25 until my dinner this evening. Also, I have a day off from school on Friday, so I'm going to take time and monitor 17 on that day. Here's crime for today.
12:04am - Traffic accident. 28XX N Lowell.

11:07am - I'm back. Sorry I'm late, but good morning to all.
12:26pm - Criminal damage. 3198 N Milwaukee. Two male Hispanics, one 18 years old with a black shirt, gray pants and yellow shorts underneath and the other with black shorts and pants are headed south towards Davlin. Caller didn't say what they damaged, but the call comes in as this.
12:32pm - Beat 2552 is doing a premise check at the pumping station, 1747 N Springfield.
12:47pm - Person slumped over the wheel at 22XX N Keeler.
12:58pm - Missing person. 2956 N Hamlin. 2 year old girl, last seen wearing a red shirt and jeans, was outside with her 8 year old sister, but the 8 year old just returned without her. Mom is out looking for the missing child.
1:32pm - Missing from 2956 N Hamlin is a female child named Anna "Dailey" Rasanio, 2 years old. She is 2 feet tall, 37 lbs, and has black hair worn in a ponytail. She has on a red shirt and blue jeans.
1:34pm - Beat 2550 wants two cars to come to the Hamlin job, to help with the missing. 2524 and 2552 are assigned.
1:35pm - Criminal trespass. 2979 N Ridgeway. Males in the vacant building.
1:36pm - Beat car 2535 has a traffic stop at North and Hamlin.
1:37pm - 2535 needs another car. The person stopped might have a warrant.
1:44pm - 2524 might have the missing child at Avers and Wellington. There's a child walking around by herself over there.
1:45pm - It's a negative on that child. 2524 and 2552 are continuing to tour the area.
2:01pm - 2550 wants 2552 to look in Koz Park for that child. There's a good possiblity she might be there.
2:36pm - Traffic accident. Belmont and Milwaukee. At the Shell gas station.
3:22pm - Beat 2561Charlie has a street stop at 38XX W Wabansia.
3:25pm - Beat 2561Adam has a street stop at 17XX N Springfield.
3:32pm - Battery in progres. Diversey and Lawndale. Three males fighting.
3:48pm - Assault in progress. Lawndale and Belmont. Three gangbangers, "Royal Killers" (probably Latin Kings), are chasing the caller.
3:51pm - The 3:48pm caller relocated to somewhere in 14. Won't give out where due to the nature of this call.
4:27pm - Battery in progress. 18XX N Springfield. Gangbangers fighting someone in the alley.
4:54pm - Battery in progress. Harding and Diversey. Gang fight by Koz Park. They're throwing bottles also.
5:00pm - Battery victim injured. Diversey and Springfield. Someone was jumped from that fight that happened.
5:57pm - Parker. On 2524's Beat.
6:38pm - 1) Traffic accident. 29XX N Avers. 2) Disturbance. 26XX N Harding.
7:14pm - Some job on the 2000 block of N Keystone.

Getting tired of complaining about these gangbangers by Koz park! I make complaints to police, landlord, and aldermans office and the problem is still not getting fixed. The police pass by when nothing is happening, and when something is happening the police miss it or not there on at the time. How does this problem get fixed? Doing the right things as a citizen and still an on going gangbanger problem. I see these idiots all the time but no police. What the hell does it take to fix the problem? I'm not going to move out the neighborhood because of these punks . Why? They don't run our lives or have decisions for our neighborhood. But it seems like that's whats happening . So I like to know if the police or city are ever going to fix this problem. How hard is it? Really? Is it really that freakin hard to add extra patrolling around here at ALL times of the day? What the hell is it that's not being done!
Thye gangbangers "can" hang out in the park. As long as they're not doing anything illegal. Being a gang member is "not" illegal. That's what parks are for, hanging out. Everybody has that right.
I also live in the Koz park area and I was walking my dog "jacks" and a bunch of gangbangers chased me out of the park...where is are beat car at?
keep calling the police, get to know your neighbors and coordinate your calling effort, and go to CAPS meetings.

Anonymous 8:35, I agree with you. It's a shame that we, the citizens who live right near the park, are making so many complaints about it and it's not being fixed. I can't figure out why the CPD doesn't recognize there's a problem in our area. There is a big problem and it seems like no one's going to listen until someone gets killed over here. Hopefully it won't come to that, but you know, it seems like that's what it's gonna lead up to. Thank you for your comment, you spoke the truth.

Panos, did you call the police for that? I hope so. Even if they don't show up, the call is documented.

Anonymous 12:02, I'm ok. Thank you for asking. I actually did listen to the scanner for about an hour after I came home, but there weren't any calls, then I got into a bad mood and decided not to listen for the rest of the day. And, I won't be blogging every single day until around my Christmas break from school. Some days in my school life are going to be busy with lots of homework and the homework gets done before I do anything else.
If you don't call, there's no problem. That's how its viewed by the police.
@american it's not illegal to be a gangbanger chilling at the park but their activities at the park are! If you watch what they do they hang by the benches and sell drugs there. At least one of them are. And on a couple of occasions watched these legal gangbangers chase and fight people at the park. Do these legal gangbangers make it safe for children and other innocent people at the park? NOPE ! That's how innocent people get shot in crossfire or have to witness crime in front of their eyes. So yeah it might be legal for them chill at the park but Safety is a big issue to the innocent citizens. Not fair people don't feel safe because of the chaos the gangbangers bring to the park. That's the point!
