Lower West Side Crime Blotter

Good morning, everyone, it's 8:14am. Today, I'm monitoring the Lower West Side community, which is just west of the Near South Side community. I hear that it's an active area because of several gangs all in one area (particularly around the 18th and Racine area), but hopefully it's quiet. I will be going out today because I've got some errands to run. Here's crime for today.

8:19am - Beat car 1233 asks for a Community Concern event number for the 1800 block of S Carpenter. It's 04495.

8:34am - Beat 1206John is running a name at Cullerton and Paulina.

9:17am - Theft report. 500 W Cermak. At the U-Haul.

10:10am - I have to go. I'll be back in a few hours. Have a great day, everyone.

3:15pm - I'm finally back. Had some trouble when I went to the station, so I had to go back a second time. Sorry. I'll get this time period of the Lower West Side tomorrow, and I'll monitor the East Garfield community in two weeks.

3:52pm - Traffic accident. 2200 S Halsted.

3:56pm - Assault. Cermak and Western. Group of gangbangers chased the caller into the Dunkin Donuts and they're afraid to come out.

4:46 to 5:38pm - I fell asleep, so I'll have to monitor this time period tomorrow as well. Sorry for all of these inconveniences today.

6:47pm - I have to go eat. I'll be back soon.

7:00pm - I'm back.

10:31pm - Battery in progress. 1700 block of W 21st. Gang fight going on.

10:58pm - Battery in progress. 2121 W Cullerton. Six people fighting in front.

11:41pm - Traffic accident. 1750 W 19th. Caller got hit by a car somewhere on Halsted.

11:47pm - Burglar alarm. 2545 S Ashland.

12:00am - I'm going to go. I'll be back with this community at 10:10 this morning. Goodnight, everyone, and I'll see you all in the morning.

In these areas the police should just drive bulldozers and flatten the area.

Very constructive solution - just do away with areas you don't like...
Guess I'll move into YOUR neighborhood when they flatten mine.

Luke, like anonymous 2:09, I agree that bulldozing and flatting the area isn't a very constructive solution.

Anonymous 12:37, then why are there at least six gangs all within blocks of each other over there? Not even where I am in Avondale has that.

Theres six gangs rigth next to each other but there not shooting each other everyday. All they do is tag most of the time, look up Pilsen murders for 2010 I think there was only one. Your area the gangs aren't as close but there's more gang drama on your ward, come one summer day and night and you a see that its not a bad area to live in.

Send the ICE officers into Pilsen. Let them gather the trash and deport it all. Perhaps just let the cops execute those gangbangers like they would in some of those foreign countries. (Mexico)
