Gang Slogans Shouted On Ridgeway

Good afternoon, everyone, it's 3:49pm. I haven't had too good of a day, but that's over, which I'm glad about. Anyway, I am finally back with 25. I bet most of you are happy about that. I will be monitoring 25 straight through the next two weeks. We'll see how that goes. Also, as I said a couple of days ago, this will not be a busy week for me, well, not meeting-wise anyway. But it will be busy, because I had a meeting at school and my teachers, the social worker, and case manager, tell me I must work on life skills in order to succeed and function in this world. These are things like cooking, doing laundry, etc. I will be learning how to do stuff like that. But here's crime for this afternoon and evening.

3:51pm - Gang disturbance. 2700 block of N Ridgeway. Two male Hispanics, about 18-21 yrs old, with black hoodies shouting gang slogans while walking towards Schubert. They're Cobras.

4:10pm - 1) Some call in the area. 2) Parker. 2715 N Monticello.

4:11pm - Burglar report. 2059 N Karlov.

4:45pm - 1) Traffic accident. On 2524's Beat. 2) Traffic accident. Pulaski and Armitage.

4:48pm - Narcotics. 38X7 W Fullerton.

5:59pm - I have an early dinner tonight. See you all in a little bit.

6:16pm - I'm back.

6:18pm - Disturbance. 3706 W Fullerton. Loiters in the grocery store.

6:26pm - Disturbance. 3600 W Wrightwood. Five teens walking towards Monticello, throwing snowballs at passing cars.

6:29pm - Threatening suicide. 4122 W George. Man on the 2 threatening to kill himself.

7:38pm - Foot chase. Armitage and Hamlin. Someone's running south on Hamlin from an officer.

7:39pm - The officer lost sight of the offenders, but says there was a group hanging out in a restaurant at that intersection. That's where they ran from.

7:41pm - Beat 2599 is giving a slow down on the whole foot chase fiasco.

7:49pm - Suspicious person. 1945 N Ridgeway. Heavy set male got into a yellow or white SUV after running. This is likely from the foot chase.

9:32pm - I have to go. I'll be back tomorrow afternoon. Goodnight, everyone.

6:07am, 2/8/11 - I forgot to mention that I've officially reached (and I actually mean it) 1,000 posts in doing this blog!! It took nearly 3 years, but so what? I made it! Again, I would just like to thank everyone for their encouragement over the last couple of years. I really, really appreciate it. Without some of you, I don't think I could have continued this blog. Oh, and also, I guess as a reward, here's an article by Chicago News Report about a robbery that happened in Avondale late last night.

Man, that Ridgeway. Seems to be where bustouts dwell.

Citizens of 025, you can go to the 25th district station and sign up to watch the pod cameras. You'll be able to spy on the dope dealers and gangbangers.

Thank you, anonymous 8:36, and no problem. Also no problem to you, 11:27.

Sgt. Benderski, tell me about it. I have to deal with all of this crap, too.

bobbo, thank you for letting everyone know. It reminds me to mention it in today's post.

Thanks, BBE!

POD cameras are INVADING citizens privacy. They are unconstitutional!

Anonymous 5:18, how so?? I think they protect people if anything. I don't think they're unconstitutional.

I think Ridgeway is not as bad as you make it out to be. Maybe you just notice more things because you live on the street. And Sgt. benderski's comment proves my point. Anyone that reads your blog will just think that the street is occupied by gangbangers and drug dealers. I don't know of any that live on the 2800 block of Ridgeway.

Anonymous 2:10 and 10:31, and Timothy, thank you!

Luke, you're right, but they're probably not hot.

Anonymous 11:01, no offense, but do you live on the block? If not, what you makes you think the block is so safe? If it were so safe, there wouldn't be gunfire going off twice a week (or if we're lucky, once a week) in the spring/summer, and surely there would not be gang members walking down our street or loitering or fighting on the block. That's all that happens over here when it gets warm most of the time. While other blocks in the area have no souls out there, or just residents on their porches enjoying the day, this block doesn't. Everyone's in their house and the gang members can be seen regularly doing what they do. And, actually, we do have gang members/drug dealers living on the block. There's at least five houses with them. If you'd like to know which ones, e-mail me. I'm not putting them out there on the blog.
