Beat 1732 CAPS Meeting Last Night (9-8-10)

Good evening, everyone. I attended 1732's CAPS meeting last night. This was my first and only visit to that meeting. This Beat is not too different from Beat 2523, at least south of Addison. There were about 15 to 20 people at the meeting. Not as much as my Beat, 2523, usually has, but it's a pretty good amount.

The old issues that were talked about from last month's meeting were the ones at 3401 N. Pulaski, 3258 N. Milwaukee (Wally's Market) and 3216 N Drake. There were at least four more problems, but those were for north of Addison, and those are not in the community, so I will not mention those. The problem 3401 Pulaski had was homeless people loitering behind there, loud parties in the building, drugs, among other things. The homeless problem was the largest. Contact cards were done from there. The problem Wally's Market had was also homeless loitering. They are constantly there, and even cook pigeons on occasions! Contact cards were also done from Wally's. The problem 3216 Drake had was illegal car repairs at night in the alley. Contact cards were done from there.

New problems:
* 3900 block of W. Eddy - Burglary of a house. Suspects may have been day laborers who were doing construction work on a building being worked on in the block.
* 3200 block of N. Hamlin - Two girls, one a 12 yr old named Jennifer, and another one, 13 yr old Maria, are really causing trouble on this block. They possibly live at 3241 on Hamlin. There have been several and several fights on the block, involving about 10 or so people, because of these girls. They also bring in gangbangers, possibly Cobras, to also hang out. Large groups gather. These girls are very rude to community members.

The CAPS Sergeant shared with us with contact cards look like. They are done so CPD can have basic information on whoever they stop. Also, there were reports of narcotic calls along Addison, on the south side of the street. There were people doing drugs. This was across the street from Athletic Park.

Other observations:
> I met a fan of mine at this meeting. They are one of the Beat Facilitators for Beat 1732. It was nice to meet them.

For this Beat meeting post, I'd like to say thanks to the residents for being involved in this meeting. Work still needs to be done, however. I ask for those residents who read the blog but don't come to the meetings (because they don't want to), please, go!

Next meeting: October 13th, 2010, at Avondale Park (3516 W. School), at 7:00pm.

Thank you,
Timmy

F, no problem!

Anonymous, not that I know of. But it does have a problem with the homeless/drunks from Beat 2523 moving north across Belmont, into Beat 1732.
