Good morning, everyone. Apparently, there was a shooting last night in the area, at McLean and Drake, according to Chicago News Report. It happened around 9pm, with gunshots being allegedly fired by Latin King gang members. No one was reported as being shot, however. As CPD arrived on scene, they described that a male with a light complexion wearing a gray ski cap, a grayish-blue jacket and white gym shoes, leaving the crime scene through an alley on the 3500 block of W McLean Avenue. Officers described the man as about 20 yrs old, 5’7” to 5’9” and about 140 lbs. Unfortunately, they did not capture the suspect.
About 45 minutes into the investigation, at 9:44pm, it was reported that an officer spotted a black Oldsmobile with tinted windows, running through stop signs at Central Park and McLean. The driver was a male Hispanic wearing a baseball cap, officers stated. Because of the driver’s behavior, they believed he may have been involved in the shooting. Then, at some point during the investigation, an Oldsmobile was spotted at 3409 W Belden, and they did question someone. Though, it's not clear if the Oldsmobile was black or if they driver was arrested.
It's not even three days after the elections, and already there is a shooting in Roberto Maldonado's Ward (26th)? That says a lot, I think. Exactly why Devon Reid should've been elected.

When are the yuppies gonna get out and "take back the streets" from these gangbangers? They all talk tough about it. But don't have the balls to do anything but complain about the cops not doing anything.
Start calling on these gangbangers, sign complaints, and go to court.
Isn't there a POD there? Latin Kings and Imperial Gangsters are always shooting at each other, for drug turf.
Nothing is going to stop this bangers. If yuppies step up you think their going to stop anyone, if the police cant I highly dont think yuppies will do anything. Oh well atleast there was a gang/drug bust in Humboldt Park 20 people arrested.
Anonymous 3:28, I know for sure there is one at McLean and Central Park (I should know, I monitored this one in the station last weekend), but I don't know about McLean and Drake.
bobbo, I've actually seen a couple of yuppies take action in their neighborhood (by calling, signing complaints, etc.), but most don't, and I think that is because they're either scared to have something happen to them if they come forward, or just except the CPD to do everything. Personally, I make calls, but I'm not willing most times to sign a complaint and go to court because the punk's buddies (or himself, when he gets out of jail) will come back for me. And that is not ideal, especially because I live with my mother. I don't want anything to happen to her because of something I did. And I want to actually make it into my adulthood (I'm almost into the beginning of it).
Anonymous 3:43, I can agree with that. Which is exactly why I'm glad Jody Weis is going to lose his job and we're going to have more officers hired.
I feel like it's a little off to blame the current Alderman for a shooting a few days after the elections. Even if a new Alderman was elected he wouldn't be in office until April. In the meantime we have to remain dilligent to keep our neighborhoods safe. Aldermen are only a fraction of the equation, it's the community, the police, the elected officials that take back the streets. It starts with us! People need to stop putting all the blame on elected officials and start taking some responsibility for their neighborhoods.
