Good evening, everyone, it's 8:30pm. It's a bit of a cloudy evening, and it's nice out, with temps in the lower 60s. Tonight's only going to get into the upper 50s. Anyway, I'm monitoring 25 from now until midnight, and then I'll return on Monday. I'm taking tomorrow off. Oh, and just so everyone knows, but Zone 12 is on Citywide 6, frequency 460.250. With that, here's crime for this evening.
8:31pm - Beat car 2525 is on a job at about 4100 W Fullerton, near the Metra tracks, and there's a bit of a situation with this call. Apparently, some young person was involved in some sort of incident, and had to jump off the tracks. Also, this kid's telling CPD that their friend was up on the tracks and might have gotten hit by a train. Doesn't sound too good. I'll keep monitoring this incident.
9:02pm - Police Helicopter #1 is being asked to come to the scene. 2525 wants them to shine their light up and down the tracks to see if they see any bodies or anything like that. They believe that one other kid who was up there got hit by a train.
9:10pm - Parker. On 2535's Beat.
9:28pm - Ok, here's what I got on the whole Metra incident. Apparently, this kid and their friend were on a train heading to Canada (probably one of those SOO freight trains) when some sort of incident, I believe them getting threatened by someone, unfolded and both kids jumped off the railroad tracks. One kid has severe injures, including head trauma, and the other is a possible death. The kid who got hit by the train is the one possibly dead. Beat 2510 wants EMS to hurry up getting there because these kids aren't looking good at all.
9:49pm - 2525 is following the ambulance to Children's Memorial Hospital.
9:54pm - Robbery. 30XX N Lawndale. Five male Hispanics in a red pick-up truck just robbed the pizza delivery man.
10:00pm - For informational purposes, from that entire Metra incident, the officers had to start their search of the body at Diversey and then work their way south to Fullerton. Metra Police were on scene, too. Officers searched the tracks really good. Admittedly, I didn't pay really all too much attention to when the officers were mobling with each other about the incident, but this is the basic information all of you need to know.
10:03pm - 2533 is saying that a tow truck is in the parking lot of the T-Mobile over there on Fullerton, trying to tow the car of one of the kids' parents. They're making sure that doesn't happen.
10:06pm - Late information, but the kid who has the head trauma may have crawled a block or two east of the tracks after jumping off. Also, the remaining units over there are based around Schubert and Keeler.
10:07pm - Gang disturbance. Lawndale and Diversey.
10:25pm - Person w/ a gun. Belmont and Karlov. Two male Hispanics, one in a white t-shirt on a bike, are being chased by 10 other males. Everyone has guns.
10:31pm - A disregard is being given on the 10:25pm job.
10:33pm - Beat 2593Robert is getting things on his PDT in the 20 sector.
10:34pm - 1) EMS run. 37XX W Lyndale. Man down in the alley. 2) Burglar alarm. 23XX N Avers. 3) Loud music disturbance. 23XX N Ridgeway.
10:36pm - Disturbance. 17XX N Lawndale.
10:58pm - Shots Fired. Central Park and Cortland. Seven heard.
11:00pm - Beat car 2535Robert is on scene at the 10:58pm job, saying that people are telling them the shots came from the 14th District side, possibly near Drake or St. Louis.
11:05pm - Battery in progress. 29XX N Springfield. Males fighting in the street.
11:13pm - Beat car 2524R is getting a couple of things on their Beat on the PDT.
11:23pm - Beat car 2522R is getting some things on the 20 sector.
11:24pm - The 11:05pm job is being coded. 2593R was just over there and there's no fight.
11:46pm - Gang disturbance. 25XX N Lowell. Several in front, flashing gang signs and smoking marijuana.
12:00am - I'm going to go. I'll be back on Monday. Have a good night, everyone.

Very sad about the kids. There are gangs of hobos that ride the freight trains across the country. They are very dangerous & violent. Sounds as if these kids ran into them.
Why doesn't the railroad secure their tracks? I think the families of those boys and any others who've been hurt on train tracks should sue.
Securing the tracks is not realistic because it would entail actually building concrete / heavy metal alloy "fences", if you will.
That is not just costly, but unsafe for the trains and their workers aboard. It is unsafe for passengers and would actually serve to cause more problems.
I feel for the kids and their parents. May they know love and care at this time and in the future to come.
Anonymous 8:00, perhaps people should sue Timmy for posting peoples addresses on this blog? A person is innocent until proven guilty.
Anonymous Sunday, April 15, 2012 1:34:00 PM CDT,
I want to address your outrage about Timmy posting addresses here. He does NOT post the complete address that is put out over the zone, he just puts out the first two numbers and adds a double X after the first two numbers.
What Timmy does is no different than what a paid journalist does. If you want to sue him, you would have to sue the entire slew of media outlets plus the entire internet community that writes about crime and community concerns.
Yes, a person is innocent until proven guilty and having a partial address posted does not indicate guilt or innocence, just that a call came out about that address.
CPD's Clearpath site has addresses posted going back 10 years. You gonna sue the city too? What an uninformed person you are.
What ever happened to that bust out junkie's white bicycle that was chained up on the corner of Avers and Diversey? Was there a time limit on the ghost bike? Or did the city decide enough was long enough?
I will not be donating anything. If it has come to this then it's time to stop the blogging & get a job. The time you put into CAPS meetings, you can put into job seeking. I must remind myself that your only 18 but the world & the rest of society doesn't owe you anything. This post & the other I read may sound harsh but thats the real world.
The gypsy's took the bicycle.
I WAS ON HIAWATHA TRAIN 3?? FROM MILWAUKEE TO CHICAGO. IT HIT THE BOY. IT SLOWED DOWN AND WHEN IT CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP THE CONDUCTORS WENT OUT AND THE BOYS BODY WAS OUT THER NOT SURE WHERE BUT THEY JUST KEPT SAYING A BOY HAS BEEN HIT AND THEY HAVE TO WAIT FOR PARAMEDICS TO ARRIVE. AFTER TALKING TO ONE OF THE TRAIN CONDUCTORS IT DIDNT SOUND GOOD HE SAID THE BOYS HEAD WAS SPILT OPEN AND IF HE WAS ALIVE HE WASNT SURE FOR HOW LONG. I PRAY BY THE GRACE OF GOD HE SURVIVES. THERE WAS LESS THAN 25 30 PASSANGERS ON THE TRAIN. I FEEL SO BAD.
Unknown, thank you for that information. I greatly appreciate it. Very said to hear about this happening. I'm also praying that the kid will survive by God's grace.
Anonymous 8am, I agree with anonymous 12:55. If you "secure" those tracks, with fences and what not, it'll actually make it unsafe for the trains and its workers/passengers. I feel bad for the kids and their parents as well.
Anonymous 1:34, hmmm....
Anonymous 2:42, I absolutely agree with you. That's exactly what I do now (I didn't always do this, as most of you know). And I agree that this is exactly what paid journalists do, as well as other bloggers.
Anonymous 3:57, I'm guessing that the city took it, or like Skippy said, maybe gypsies took it. Not really sure though.
Anonymous 7:24, I'm sorry to sound harsh here myself, but I don't think you know how to read. Because if you did, you would've read my post last night on this topic. As I said last night, I take back asking for people's donations. Really, I do. If they sincerely and absolutely want to donate, fine, but I'm not putting a PayPal button up here or going to beg and plead about it. I'm not that desperate. I just thought that the community would want to show some kindness to me, especially for everything I have done for this neighborhood (and again, I admit for being stupid for thinking this way, because I should've known better about the people in this community). But that's okay. I don't expect rewards or pats on the back. The only thing that pays me back for doing this kind of work is when more and more people start getting involved in their community and community groups start to spring up to change their neighborhoods. That's my reward, because it makes me feel good. It means I have worked towards my goals of making this community safer and better for everyone. And again, telling me to get a job? Really? Like I already told, I've applied for quite a few jobs already (I started this last summer and have not heard back from one place). Provide me with the job and I'll take it. But until then, please lay off. About the CAPS meetings, how many do you think I've been to this year? Besides my own CAPS Beat meeting (which is every OTHER month), I've only been to two other CAPS meetings. And really, stop preaching to me about the "real world", because I've already begun to experience it. Unfortunately for me, that started in my early teenage years.
