Back-2-School For Year-Round CPS Schools: Day #2

Good morning, everyone, it's 7:58am. It's a sunny morning with temps in the lower 60s, and today will be around 80 with sunshine. Monitoring 25 today, until 5pm. After today, I'm going on blog vacation, although I will have a post up tomorrow and Thursday from two CAPS Beat meetings that occurred a month ago. But I need time away from the radio before I start my college classes on Monday. I will return blogging when I get home from my classes on Monday evening. If anyone has a scanner, or would like to listen to RadioReference, please feel free to cover crime in the area. Just send me an email with whatever you have and I'll give you credit for listening. With that, here's crime for this morning and afternoon.

8:15am - 1) Traffic accident. Wrightwood and Springfield. Hit-and-run. 2) Burglar alarm. 36XX W Palmer.

8:19am - Beat car 2524 doesn't see anything at Wrightwood/Springfield. There's no call back, so it'll be a code.

8:20am - Nevermind. 2524 just got flagged down about it at 38XX W Wrightwood. Meanwhile, Beat car 2525 codes out Palmer as a 14Paul.

9:40am - 2525 has a handwaver at Central Park and Altgeld regarding an attempted theft. Male Black teenager, dark complected and bald head, last seen wearing a black shirt with a purple logo on it and black jeans tried to take the victim's gold chain. He fled down the west alley of Central Park from Altgeld.

10:00am - 2525 is coding out her handwaver for now. She drove around the area and didn't find anyone fitting the description.

11:05am - Beat 2582Foot is doing foot patrol on Milwaukee from Central Park to Belmont.

1:28pm - Beat 2582 is doing segway patrol on Fullerton from Kilbourn to Pulaski. Event number is 08548.

1:40pm - I'm going on a little break before all the schools let out. I'll be back in 10 minutes.

1:50pm - I'm back. Good afternoon, everyone.

1:52pm - Suspicious person. Belmont and Hamlin. Male Asian, 5'4, 248 lbs with a checkered shirt is lurking around and stalking women from the senior center nearby.

2:23pm - 10-1. Monitor and Arthington. Suburban police asking for emergency assistance. All available units in 15 and in 25 are being advised to go.

2:24pm - Good address on the 10-1 is 925 S Monitor. Berwyn PD is asking for help.

2:25pm - Quite a few units are on scene now, so a slow down is being given, per Beats 1550 and 6758Henry.

2:26pm - 1550 is telling 15th District officers to stay outside. I'm assuming everything is ok, so I'm going back to covering just our neighborhood...

2:29pm - Just FYI, but the 10-1 is being given a 19P per 1550. Everything's ok.

2:44pm - Disturbance. 3018 N Milwaukee Ave. At the Danny's Liquor. Male causing a problem in the store.

2:45pm - Beat 2544 is giving Beat car 2523, the assigned unit to the 2:44pm job, a disregard. He's on scene and the guy's gone.

3:46pm - Per Beat 2502, 25th District Desk, Beat car 2525 is to go look for a missing at 21XX N Keeler.

4:11pm - Disturbance. 4022 W Armitage. Three males blocking the door.

4:56pm - Just FYI, everyone, but there's been some shooting near the far west end of the coverage area, a little southwest of the Fullerton and Kostner area, over on 2522's Beat. The majority of the shooting just happened on the 2100 and 2200 blocks of N Kenneth, and by Hermosa Park. MLDs played a role. Just letting everyone know who lives on 2524's Beat right near the Kelvyn Park area know in case something goes down later.

5:00pm - I'm going to go. I'll be back on Monday, but I'll have two Beat meeting posts up tomorrow and Thursday, respectively. Please do let me know if any major incidents occur in the area, though. Going on my blog vacation beginning now. I hope everyone has a great week and stays safe!

Back-2-School For Year-Round CPS Schools

Good morning, everyone, it's 7:44am. If you don't already know, today is the first day back to school for the year-round CPS Schools. We all know what that means. Kids off the street for the most part, doing school work and being with their friends, and in the case of the bad ones, acting a fool and causing trouble. Hopefully this school year will be better than most, and maybe it will, as the kids go longer now. Elementary schools go 7 hours and high schools go 7.5 hours. I'll be monitoring the schools tomorrow and Wednesday as well. Today, I'm monitoring 14 and 25, with 14 being a priority, as quite a few schools in 14 go back today, and we've had problems before with a couple of these schools, so I'm listening carefully today. With that, here's crime for today.
