Good morning, everyone, it's 6:24am. I'm monitoring 17 all day today for all of you, then I will not be monitoring tomorrow thru Thursday, as I have a final in school to prepare for. This is my last week of school for the semester and year, and I have a few weeks off after this. Even though this has been the best semester I've had in college so far, I am worn out and could use some time to relax, so I'm excited for the break coming up. With that, here's crime for today.

6:41am - Burglar alarm. 32XX N Drake.

7:31am - Parker. 3300 block of N Central Park. Several cars without permits on the block.

7:43am - Beat 1902, 19th District Desk, just received a call from a citizen who says that the manhole cover at Roscoe and California is off. Beat car 1733 is headed over to check it out.

10:09am - Parker. 28XX W Henderson.

11:40am - Beat car 1724 is being assigned to a gang funeral procession that is beginning in the area near Western and Devon, and is making its way to 3255 N Pulaski Rd. The procession will be in the District by 12:15pm. I'll be keeping an eye on this.

12:35pm - Some kind of call at 3500 N. Kimball, the Home Depot.

12:38pm - Check the well being. Addison Blue Line. Woman keeps walking in and out of traffic acting as if she's high, she's now laying in the middle of the street.

1:59pm - Backlog in 17 at 13:59 hours.

3:46pm - I think there was a call in the area, but I'm not sure.

6:50pm - DUI dirver. 3300 block of N Kedzie. Two intoxicated people got into a car and pulled off.

7:19pm - This is just for informational purposes only, but there has just been a robbery at the Subway over at 3329 N. Milwaukee Ave., which is just outside of my coverage boundaries and Avondale in 17. A man of Black, 6'2, 220 lbs with a blue mask over his face with the eyes cut out along with all black clothing just held up the Subway. He fled towards Pulaski on Milwaukee, which is why I'm giving this information out.

Good morning, everyone, it's 10:22am. Sorry I'm late, guys. I was supposed to start blogging at 9:56, but got caught up doing some things. I'm going to be monitoring 14 all day today, and then I plan on monitoring 17 all day tomorrow. From Sunday to Thursday, I will not be monitoring, because I have a Psychology final to study for, as well as some other minor things for my two other classes. After next Thursday, I will be on break from school until January 13th. Another semester is just about over. Although this has been the best semester I've had yet because of all of the new opportunities I was given, I am worn out and cannot wait to get some rest. With that, here's crime for today.

4:05pm - Traffic accident. Kimball and Wabansia. CTA bus #1360 was involved in an accident.

4:18pm - Beat 1405 is doing a park check at Simons. Event number is 09817.

4:23pm - Beat car 1431 has a traffic stop at 18XX N California.

4:24pm - Traffic accident. 2800 N California. School bus VS car, children are on board the bus. Not known if there are any injures or not.

5:37pm - Another accident on California. I think it was on the 2800 block again.

Good morning, everyone, it's 10:40am. Happy Black Friday to everyone. I hope all of you are truly enjoying your holiday with friends and loved ones. Today, I am monitoring in ten minute sequences once again. I monitored 17 this morning from 9:50 to 10:00 and 25 just about ten minutes ago. I'm monitoring 14 until 10:50, then I'm going to disappear until 5:20pm, when I'll come back with 17 until 5:30. I'll be back with 25 from 6 to 6:10, followed by 14 from 6:10 to 6:20. Tomorrow, I will return to a normal monitoring schedule. Here's crime on this Black Friday.

My family and I have had a decent holiday, although it could've been a lot better. Anyway, I'm monitoring 14 from now until 9:20, then I'm switching over to 25 for a while. I monitored all three Districts this morning in ten minute periods and did not hear anything. Hopefully it's been real quiet in the rest of the community today like it has been in my neighborhood. Good morning, everyone, it's 7am. I'm monitoring 14 briefly, from now until 7:18, then I'm going to return with 25 at 10, until 3:05pm. I'll be gone from 3:05 to 9:20, at which time I'll return with 25 until midnight. Tomorrow, I'll be on a special schedule in observance of Thanksgiving, as well as Friday for Black Friday. I hope everyone is getting ready to celebrate this great time of year with their friends and family. Hard to believe it's almost the end of the year already. Just yesterday, it seems like, it was summer. On another note, I just realized that Saturday was my 5th year anniversary of doing this blog. I totally forgot. It's very hard for me to believe that it's been five years already since I started this blog. Wow. Time has flown by so fast. I am absolutely amazed that it's been this long I've been doing this blog. To be completely honest, I didn't think I would be doing this blog for this long. To keep a long story short, I am so thankful for all of the wonderful readers I've had and still have down through the years. I am especially thankful for those of you who've been reading since Day #1 (November 23rd, 2008). Thank you for being loyal and being faithful to me, even when I haven't blogged as effectively as I should have. Thank you for being with me even through the hardest times of my life and for encouraging me to keep doing this blog. Reflecting on the years of doing this blog, I can truly say that it has changed my life in many ways. We as a community have several success stories and victories as a result of all of us on this blog taking a stand against crime and disorder in the community. Even though I have not blogged this year as much as I used to in the past years, I still truly enjoy doing this blog when I can. It brings me great joy to do this service for each and every one of you when I am able to. 2:42pm - Disturbance w/ a mental. 3919 W Fullerton. At the Fullerton Hotel. Resident with mental problems is threatening to harm the staff.

9:31pm - Wanted for an armed robbery from Hamlin and Milwaukee is a male Hispanic, 25 to 30, medium completion, with a skill cap with skulls on it. There are two victims, one of which has a stab wound, and the other was punched in the face. The stabbed victim is in stable condition and will be transported to Illinois Masonic. This is per Beat car 2522. Beat 2550 is notified.

9:45pm - Reckless driver. Milwaukee and Central Park. A van with a plate of 3754419 just turned left on Milwaukee from Central Park, going at a high rate of speed.

9:49pm - 1) Criminal trespass(?). 36XX W Dickens. Caller hears people in a vacant apartment. 2) 2522 is headed over to Masonic. No crime scene. Area North will be notified.

10:53pm - 2522 is clear from Masonic, as well as St. Mary's, where apparently the victim went to, and is heading into 25 to do the report.

11:02pm - Beat 6732David has a handwaver on North just west of Central Park. The person waving officers down is saying that a male Hispanic with a dark hoodie and jeans with designs on the back of them. The guy implied a gun but one wasn't seen. He fled south on Central Park towards LeMoyne.

8:18pm - Reckless driver. Milwaukee and Western. Dark blue or black Lexus is driving in and out of the lanes at a high rate of speed as if something's wrong with him. The car has a plate of H146122. Headed north on Milwaukee towards Campbell.

8:43pm - Assault in progress. 3110 W Armitage. At the Walgreen's. Three male Hispanics were slashing the clerk's tires and also threatened a man near the corner. They're heading south towards Cortland on Albany.

8:49pm - EMS run. Milwaukee Ave./Western. Male passed out at the bus stop, near the train station.

Good afternoon, everyone, it's 4:24pm. I'm monitoring 14 this afternoon into this evening. I monitored this morning from 9:43am to 10:10, but heard nothing. I hope all of you had a great weekend. I will be working on the tape of 25 from Saturday this week. Well, this semester will be over in 3 weeks, so as I'm winding down, I will be try my best to post more often, and then once this semester is over, I should be posting nearly everyday until I go back to school in mid-January. With that, here's crime for this afternoon and evening.

4:26pm - Beat 1405 is doing a park check at Simons. Event number is 10700.

4:36pm - Speed chase. Speed chase. On Madison. A unit has a car taking off from them. It's got a plate of R128610.

4:37pm - South on Damen from Jackson. Heading towards the Eisenhower.

4:38pm - Beat 1292 is the chasing unit and they lost the suspect. It's a black Cadillac.

4:39pm - Beat 1261 says the car got onto the Eisenhower, per a citizen, west from Damen. The car took off from 1292 on a traffic stop.

4:40pm - 1) Beat 1230 is saying that the driver is a male Hispanic, 30-35 years old wearing gray sweatpants and a dark colored cop (not sure what that is). There's a female Black passenger, heavy set, about 300 pounds, last seen wearing a brown coat and dark pants. 2) Beat car 1413 has a traffic stop at Palmer and Kimball. 3) The chase is over, so back to regular neighborhood coverage....

5:34pm - Battery in progress. Milwaukee and Logan Blvd. Road rage incident, two guys fighting.

5:35pm - Another call on the 5:34pm job. They're still fighting.

5:36pm - 1) A third call from the 5:34pm job says that four to five people are fighting. 2) 1405 is doing park checks at Holstein and Haas. Haas is 11975 and Holstein is 11977.

5:39pm - 1) DUI driver. Milwaukee and Kedzie. 40 year old male Black in a black SUV with a plate of A822302 was last seen driving towards Sawyer on Milwaukee Ave., he appears to be intoxicated. 2) A slow down is being given on the 5:34/5:35/5:36pm jobs per Beat car 1414.

6:03pm - Disturbance. 16XX N Paulina.

6:06pm - Gang disturbance. 21XX N Sawyer. Group loitering in front and in back of the building.

6:10pm - 1405 will be relieving Beat 1471 from the Belmont detail over by the river, in regards to the church steeple that is laying in the middle of the street.

6:15pm - Some job on the 1700 block of W Armitage.

6:18pm - Shots Fired. 28XX N Sacramento. Shots fired into a 1st floor apartment.

6:19pm - Burglary report. 21XX N St. Louis.

6:26pm - 1) Suspicious person. wabansia california. Group of four people approached the caller and when they turned around, all four people ran down Wabansia towards Fairfield. Two are males and two are females. All are wearing black jackets. 2) Traffic accident and parker on 1431's Beat. 3) Burglar alarm. 2704 W North Ave. At the New Life Covenant church.

6:27pm - Criminal trespass. 27XX W Nelson. People in the basement of a vacant building smoking marijuana.

6:28pm - Beat car 1412 is giving a total disregard on the 6:15pm job.

6:37pm - 1) 1413 has a bona fide burglary at the 6:19pm job. Beat 1410 is notified. 2) Beat 1461Eddie has a special attention over at 2708 N. Western, where there will be a gang funeral this evening. Event number is 13048.

10:55am - Disturbance. 3559 N Pulaski. At the 7-11. Intoxicated male causing a problem inside.

11:50am - Traffic accident. Belmont and Avers.

12:14pm - Person wanted. 3400 N Monticello. At the St. Wen's church.

2:22pm - Fire. Kimball and the Kennedy Expressway. Fire on the side of the exit ramp of the Kennedy.

2:37pm - Fire. 37XX W Addison. Neighbor burning something in the backyard.

5:21pm - A unit has a traffic stop at Addison and Pulaski.

8:09pm - DUI driver. 4900 W Addison. Car with a plate of K53326 is headed east on Addison towards Cicero has an intoxicated driver. Just putting this out there in case the car comes into the most northern part of Avondale...

8:20pm - Theft in progress. 3410 W Belmont. In the Walgreen's parking lot. Two intoxicated male Hispanics attempted to steal a green truck with a plate of 538S603.

Student Gets Hit By Another Student @ McAuffle School, Battery @ Ames Middle School

Good morning, everyone, it's 8:30am. I'm monitoring 25 this morning from now until 10:10am, then I have to go out of town until tomorrow afternoon, on a Student Government-related assignment. I apologize once again for not monitoring much in the last three or so months, but my time management skills suck. This is not an excuse, just the truth. I did monitor yesterday from 7am until this time and did some monitoring Tuesday evening (I haven't gotten around to listening to that archive yet, but will try my best to by the end of this weekend). With that, here's crime for this morning.

8:43am - Battery. 1841 N Springfield. At the McAuffle School. In the main office, parent says their child was hit by another student.

9:41am - Battery report. 1920 N Hamlin. At the Ames Middle School. Student was hit.

9:44am - Burglar alarm. 4234 W Drummond. At the warehouse.

Man Selling Donuts At North Ave./Pulaski, Sex Offender Check On Wellington

8:01am - Beat car 2523 has a Sex Offender at 40XX W Wellington.

Homicide @ Wrightwood/Sawyer On October 29th

Hello everyone, I sincerely apologize for not reporting this sooner, but I am honestly very swamped with loads of college work (and not just from my courses, but also from Student Government), along with some personal things at home. I really wish I could update this blog regularly like I want to, but I haven't had the time. I will be back much more regularly as soon as this semester ends. But, anyway, I am writing about a homicide that occurred last Tuesday, on October 29th, at Wrightwood and Sawyer, near the heart of Logan Square. This murder occurred around 4:30am. According to the Chicago Tribune, a 23 year old man was shot fatally in the chest. He was taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital only to be reported dead a short time later.

I know this story is awfully late, but if anyone has any insights and information on this shooting, please feel free to leave a comment here, on the Facebook page (which I need to update) or at the crime blog e-mail address.

Halloween Coverage, 2013

Good afternoon, everyone, it's 5:20pm. Happy Halloween to all of those who celebrate and endorse it. I personally don't, but I provide this coverage to all of you so that you are up-to-date with what is going on in the community. On this Halloween, my coverage will be a bit different. From now until 5:25, I'll be covering 14, then from 5:25 to 5:30, I'll cover 25. I'm then going to be on my other blog until 7:20, then I'll come back with 17 until 7:30. 14 will be covered from 7:30 to 7:40 then 25 from 7:40 to 7:50. I'll be going back to my other blog at that time until 8:50, then at 8:50, I'll monitor 25 until 9:30. At 9:30, I'll switch over to 14 until 10:10, and then at that point, 17 will be monitored until 11:30. I'll come back with 25 and 14, respectively, from 11:30 to 11:50. At 11:50, I'll be going back to my other blog for a little while. More details about coverage later this evening will be announced shortly before midnight. With that, here's crime for this late afternoon and evening.

5:21pm - Beat car 1412 says that there’s a suspicious guy walking back and forth, in and out of the west alley on the 3000 block of N Allen. Not sure what he's up to, but he looks really suspicious. They're about to check him out.

5:25pm - I'm now monitoring 25.

5:30pm - I'm done monitoring 25. I'll see you all in a little while.

7:40pm - I'm back, with 25. I've been monitoring 17 and 14, respectively, for the last 20 minutes with nothing heard.

7:43pm - Beat car 2524 needs the Wagon at 37XX W Wabansia for an out of control bi-polar female who's causing a scene over there. Beat 2573 is headed over, but is coming from a distance.

7:44pm - Beat car 2525 is also heading over to Wabansia to make sure everything's okay.

7:46pm - A slow down is being given on Wabansia.

7:47pm - Now a disregard is being given on Wabansia.

7:49pm - 2525 is taking the lady to St. Mary's Hospital from 2524's thing.

Good morning, everyone, it's 7am. I'm monitoring 25 from now until 8:13am, then I intend on covering 17 tonight from 10:17pm to midnight. I am feeling better for the most part, but found out yesterday in the ER that I have a gum infection, which I'm taking medicine for now, and I have to have a major dental operation in December. .

Good morning, everyone, it's 7am. I'm monitoring 14 from now until 8am, then I'll be covering 25 from 2pm to 3:13. I'm not feeling too well today, but I'm sure I'll feel better soon. As you all know, the holiday season is approaching. With Halloween being later this week, and with the clocks being turned back an hour next Sunday, we're almost at the end of this year already. Time flies by so fast. Well, with that, here's crime for this morning and this afternoon.

7:59am - Traffic accident. 1430 W North Ave. Two cars, injures. Airbags have been deployed.

8:00am - Beat 1443 on-viewed the accident. Says there's no injures, so CFD can take a disregard. With that, I'm going to go until 2. I'll see you all then. Have a great morning, everyone!

Good morning, everyone, it's 9:45am. I'm monitoring 14 in a couple of sequences today. The first time period will be from now until 10:45, then again from 12:06pm until 12:56, and then from 8:30 to midnight. I also monitored 14 this morning from 9:15 to 9:27, but heard no calls. .

9:50am - Beat car 1412 has an on-view battery in progress at 29XX N Kimball. Assist car needed. Beat cars 1411 and 1423 are heading over.

9:52am - Suspicious person. 19XX N Mozart. Man lurking around near the corner.

9:53am - A slow down is being given on Kimball per 1411. Enough cars on scene.

9:57am - Some call at 17XX N Campbell.

8:42pm - Missing person. 2224 W Fullerton. 16 year old daughter is at this location, caller needs help retrieving her.

8:43pm - Request for a supervisor on the 8:33pm job.

9:01pm - 1) Loud music disturbance. 23XX W McLean. 2) Municipal ordinance violation. Fullerton and Damen.

9:36pm - 1) Beat car 1432 was just flagged down on at California and North Ave., where they were assisting Beat car 1414 on a domestic battery, and the citizen says they heard a few "loud reports" on Richmond between Wabansia and Cortland. Sound like possible gunshots. 2) Shots Fired. Wabansia and Spaulding. Couple of calls. One call says five shots were fired.

9:44pm - Beat 1420 is at Wabansia/Spaulding and says that a citizen told her that three shots were heard in the alley of 32XX W Wabansia with a blue van fleeing east towards Sawyer on Wabansia.

9:58pm - Fire. 25XX N Francisco. Smoke seen from the neighbor's apartment.

9:59pm - Suspicious vehicle. 22XX W Dickens. Two or more people in a car keep backing up the car and then driving it forward. They're near the school.

10:00pm - Assault in progress. Damen/North Ave./Mliwaukee Ave. Two groups of people arguing.

10:09pm - I'm getting word that there's a 15 year old boy shot in the right leg from the earlier Wabansia/Spaulding "Shots Fired" incident. He says he was shot on the 1600 block of N Sawyer. A green Jeep Cherokee was involved. 1420 wants Beat car 1411Robert to start looking for a crime scene.

10:11pm - Beat car 1421Robert says Cobras are involved in the shooting. Also, the crime scene is in the alley of 3261 on Wabansia.

10:24pm - Beat car 1423Robert says that the victim is 17, not 15, as initially thought. He was shot in the left thigh through-and-through. He's headed to St. Mary's Hospital in stable conditioned. He mentioned that the offenders yelled out "Cobra love!" before he was shot.

10:47pm - 1) Loud music disturbance. 31XX N St. Louis. 2) Burglar alarm. 28XX N Sacramento. 3) Loud music disturbance. 18XX N Fairfield. Loud party, drugs are involved.

10:51pm - Reckless driver. Fullerton and the Kennedy Expressway.

Traffic Stop On Diversey, Conference @ Ames Middle School

Good morning, everyone, it's 8:13am. I'm monitoring 25 from now until 10:10am, then again from 2pm to midnight. Not else much to say, so here's crime for today.

8:52am - Beat car 2524 has a traffic stop at 4431 W Diversey. He's okay.

9:01am - Beat 2576 is headed over to Ames Middle School, 1920 N. Hamlin, for a conference.

9:21am - Criminal damage. Fullerton and Tripp. Two males on the corner throwing bricks at cars, one is wearing a red/black jacket and has long hair. He's standing on a newspaper bend. The other has on a white hat with a black/white jacket.

9:39am - Unfortunately, I have to leave a little early. Have to be somewhere. My microphone equipment is once again not working either. I'll be back at 2. Sorry, guys. Hope everyone has a fantastic day.

Good evening, everyone, it's 9:15pm. I'm sorry for being gone almost all week, but I've been really busy with school, especially since I had a major research paper due earlier this week. But all the hard work I've done is worth it. Anyway, I'll be covering 17 this evening from now until midnight, then I plan on covering 25 tomorrow from 7am to 10:10, then again from 2pm to midnight. I'll be covering 14 on and off on Saturday, then from 7am to 8am on Sunday. With that, here's crime for this evening.

10:16pm - Parker. 32XX N Hamlin. White car blocking the caller's garage.

10:17pm - Zone 1 will be switching over to Citywide 6 (460.250), but unfortunately, my radio hasn't been picking up this frequency lately. I'm working on this issue, but won't be able to get it up tonight. I'm sorry, guys. I definitely will make up for this in the next few days. Mega Mall Burglary On Milwaukee Ave., Parker On Logan Boulevard

Good morning, everyone, it's 9:27am. Sorry I've been gone for a while, guys, but I've been extremely busy with school and what not. My time management skills aren't the best and my classes have been pretty overwhelming. I won't go into details, but I've had some very hard assignments as of late. Anyway, I am monitoring 14 from now until 12:56pm. With that, here's crime for this mid-morning and early afternoon.

9:30am - Burglary in progress. 2500 N Milwaukee Ave. Two males breaking into an entrance of the Mega Mall.

9:32am - Beat car 1431 is giving a slow down over at the Mega Mall. Nothing seen or heard at this moment.

9:41am - Parker. 28XX W Logan Blvd.

9:45am - I have to go, unfortunately, for a little bit. I hope to be back really soon.
