Backlog In 17, Traffic Control Re: 5-11 Alarm Fire In Avondale

Good afternoon, everyone, it's 2:32pm. It's a sunny afternoon with temps in the mid 60s, and will remain so today. I'm monitoring 17 until 5:29, then I'll come back after my dinner with 25 until midnight or so. If anyone is wondering, yes, I am aware of that extra 5-11 alarm fire that took place in east Avondale today. That's sad to hear of that factory being burned down like that. I'm being told that the fire started overnight and continued into this morning, and even that the fire IS out at this time, there are still quite a few crews that will have to remain on scene for a while, as the building was at least partially destroyed. Here's the article on the fire. If anyone would like to talk about it, please feel free to mention it here. Also, this is most likely the very last day that the current CPD District boundary and radio assignments will be as they are, due to the changes the Department is supposedly making. As far as I know, 25 will be now the 13th District, but the current 14th and 17th Districts will remain the same, including radio assignments. The new 13 will be on a new frequency, so I will have to find out which one tomorrow. The pther changes they are making are adding three more Zones, merging the current 12th and 13th Districts together, and renumbering the current 24th District to the 21st. If anyone knows anything more on the changes than I do, please comment. Here's crime for this afternoon and evening.

Good morning, everyone, it's 8:45am. It's a sunny morning with temps in the lower 60s, and today will be sunny with temps in the mid 70s. I'm monitoring 25 today until my dinner, then will monitor 17 from 8:30pm to 10:45pm. Anyway, I don't know if you guys know, but this is the last weekend of the existence of the 25th District and the CPD Districts as we know them. Supposedly, with CPD's new plan, some Districts are supposed to be merging together while others change numbers. I have the slightest idea of how the new Zone/radio assignments are going to be, but what I do know is that the 25th District will now be the 13th District, with NO changes to the District boundaries. They might change the Beat boundaries around a bit, but the official District boundaries will remain the same. Good morning, everyone, it's 9:40am. It's a pretty cold morning with temps in the mid 40s, but with sunshine. Today's supposed to be rainy with temps near 60. A good way to ring in the first day of autumn, that's for sure. Yep, summer is officially over now. I'm monitoring 25 from now until my dinner, then tomorrow for 8am until this time, then again all evening after my dinner. This is introducing all of you to my new "weird" weekend schedule. For you long-time readers, you know that I used to monitor after my dinner on Saturdays and before dinner on Sundays, but starting this year, I'm doing it the reserved way, since I'm a college student now. We'll see how it goes. Here's crime for today.

Good morning, everyone, it's 9:52am. It's a cloudy morning with temps in the lower 60s, and today's supposed to be rainy with temps around 70. We'll see how that goes. Sorry for not really blogging this week, but school's taking up A LOT of my time, and I'm trying to do as well as I can. Unfortunately, I will be dropping to part-time in a week or two. Despite all of my attempts to pass the Math class I'm taking, I'm still not passing, so I'm going to drop it rather than wait until midterms to be kicked out of it. It'll free up a lot of my time, as my other two classes are pretty easy, so it's a good and bad thing. I'll be signing up full-time again next semester. I'm monitoring 25 today, from now until about 11am or so, then I have to go to Math class, and I'll probably be back this afternoon around 2:30pm or so. Here's crime for portions of today.

I'm monitoring 25 today, and I'm doing it from now until about 11am or so, then I'm taking a break until 7pm, at which time I'll return. I may also monitor 14 a bit this evening as well. Today starts the month-long celebration of Mexican Independence, and this evening I'll be keeping an eye on the celebrations. I know some of you won't agree with me doing this, as it may seem "racist", but truth be told I monitor just about all of the big celebrations in Chicago (I only didn't monitor the Bud parade on the South Side last month just because I had no idea when it was taking place). So let's just keep the safety of the neighborhood in mind as I monitor and as you read. Here's crime for this morning and this evening.

School Check @ Mozart, Drinkers In Mozart Park

Good morning, everyone, it's 9:15am. It's a sunny morning with temps in the upper 70s. Today's supposed to get to around 90, and with clouds and possibly rain. Today is the first day back to school for the regular track CPS schools, in addition to the year-round schools which are going back after a 3-day weekend. So basically, all CPS schools are in session today. That's a good and bad thing. The kids are off the streets now, but now we're going to hear about them fighting and causing disorder in school. This also builds up tensions between certain groups, gangs, etc. But I'm remaining hopeful that this year for all CPS students will be nothing but safe and productive. Today, I'm monitoring 25 until 2:50pm, then I will be monitoring 17 from 3:20 to 3:30, then I'll come back to Zone 12 at 4:10. Happy Labor Day 2012

Good morning, everyone, it's 11:17am. Happy Labor Day to everyone. Hope all of you are enjoying this nice day with friends and family, having cookouts and what not. Today ends a lot of things here in Chicago. The beaches are closed after today for the remainder of the year, all Chicago Public Schools go back tomorrow, and a lot of festivities and events are over. To many here in the city, summer is over, even though we still officially have two and a half weeks left of the season. Today, I'm monitoring 25, and tomorrow, I will be on a special "Back-2-School" monitoring schedule for all of the CPS schools that go back tomorrow in 17 and 25, in addition to other Zones I'll be covering for my other blog. I'll be covering 14 in depth on Thursday. So with that, here's crime for today.

2:00pm - Disturbance. 2550 N Pulaski. At the Marathon gas station. Male customer causing a problem.

According to the ticket Zone 3 sent over to Zone 12, Beat car 1434 is over there on a call, and there's a man trying to pull his taser away from him. All available units in 15 and 25 are being advised to head over, as well as units in 13 and 14. So far, Beat cars 2524 and 2534 are headed over, as well as Beats 2544 and 2562Eddie.

2:09pm - Multiple units are still on the way to the 10-1 at Central Park/Palmer. Sounds like a real bad situation. Hope the officer is okay.

2:10pm - A couple of units are trying to come over the air to talk, but Dispatch rudely cuts them off, telling them to "stop talking!". She doesn't want any units coming on the air until an update or slow down is given from the 10-1.
